The plane is a TU-22M not a TU-26.

the Name TU-26 was given to the plane from the NATO. :idea:

BTW, thaks for this great Bird! long awaited!

Tu-26 was a misnomer in western literature.

It is a totally different aircraft, the Tu-22M designation was a trick tupolev pulled to sell a new design as a modernized version of an existing one.

Similar to the F/A-18E Super Hornet, only with even less commonality..

:)

Great aircraft, and generally SF2 compatible as weapons are in the weapons pack.

However, you have to rename the weapons in the loadout files and I can't get the new MERs to show up.

Not exactly. From the beginning the plane was intended as Tu-26. But in the time when it was developed there were SALT and START negogiantions between the USSR and the US. There was an agreement, that no new medium range nuclear capable bombers should be developed. So the soviet made the trick to say, okay, this is not a new bird, its only an improved version of an excisting plane.

This is great! I love it. i have a question: I see some cockpit panels in the cockpit folder, what about them? Are we going to have a proper Tu-22M cockpit?

well... it seems that there isn't such a plan. besides, both jv447 and i are now being busy and don't have plenty of time making mods for SF. :stars:

No afterburner in SFP1. Is there a sound mod that should be used with it?

maybe i didn't include some effect/sound files in the package.

anyway you can change those to the default settings or any other effect/sound you like.

Use the cockpit of the F-111 or the B-1B.

For afterburner open the data.ini look for AfterburnerEmitter3 change into AfterburnerEmitter2.

For sound look for

[sound]

EngineSoundName=B-1Bidle_3

AfterburnerSoundName=B-1BAB_1

change into

[sound]

EngineSoundName=JetEngine

AfterburnerSoundName=JetBurner

What would be cool is to use the Ardvark or even the B-1 pit, but with opencockpitmethod so we have only the instrument board and the canopy strut could be the ones of the Backfire ;)
