+Dave Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 I "think" that with green areas repainted to shrubbery Israel tileset could possibly pass as a quick placeholder for Afghanistan Did you say shrubbery? Quote
+EricJ Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 (edited) I am using HIS Israel for afghanistan, and I like it, but I've never been in afghanistan, what do you think erik? But I ve been recently flying, at very low altitude :)over haifa aerea, in the big fire of the early december. I was stunned of how good Stary's textures portray Isreal. It varies so much it's crazy as I got my photos of my area at ground level. STORM would be the best person to ask IMHO though... But that would be cool as mine are "nice enough to pass" but not totally good enough for upload. And it'd be better to go somewhere else with this as yeah I sorta hijacked the thread but don't want to disturb Stary... BTW, do I need SF2V for GH3? Edited January 3, 2011 by EricJ Quote
GunnySonics Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Ive just installed GH3 into my stock SFV, ive only been running this game for 2 weeks since leaving FS2004 after 6 years and your vietnam terrain is better than anything I ever flew over in FS2004, great work Stary, real good quality detail:- im pretty sure I even saw some monkey poo on the jungle floor when i flew over in my A4 Quote
+EricJ Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Sorry I couldn't resist, I'm waiting for Piecemeal to finish up with the airbases then I'll install it. GH2 is nice but I can wait Quote
+Stary Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 I tried it in Air and Ground War Expansion, with January update, works ok (added to North terrain), flew just few Iron Hand singles in Skoshi, have yet to encounter targetareas out of place. Quote

GH2 is nice but I can wait Not much longer Eric, my good fellow. I'm just finishing off re-arranging some of the furniture in some parts of the airfields. Wass looking around as well for extra groundobject stuff that would fit into that SEA period for the flightlines. No such joy. Another 24hrs methinks, brothers Edited January 5, 2011 by Piecemeal Quote
+Piecemeal Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 (edited) Stary; I don't know if this is a mistake but, which one is the 'really dry' season?? - [season001] Directory=dry StartDate=01/01 EndDate=03/20 ScatteredChance=20 BrokenChance=40 OvercastChance=30 InclementChance=10 [season002] Directory=dry StartDate=10/21 EndDate=12/31 ScatteredChance=20 BrokenChance=30 OvercastChance=30 InclementChance=10 EDIT - Cancel that request. I've just figured it out On a lighter note - I've finished the airfield update and I'll be uploading it probably tomorrow morning. Just waiting for a groundobject delivery from a fellow modder Edited January 5, 2011 by Piecemeal Quote
+Stary Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 uhhh... should be reverse: [season001] Directory=dry StartDate=04/15 EndDate=09/20 ScatteredChance=20 BrokenChance=40 OvercastChance=30 InclementChance=10 something like this? Quote
+Piecemeal Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 It's a little confusing really (not on your part) when you google the subject. It appears that the northern, central and southern regions have different dry and wet seasons: http://www.discoveryindochina.com/weather/index.htm BTW, it wasn't what you had on the INI file that had me confused, I just didn't look at it closely enough. The fact that the U.S. use a different dating system threw me off a little bit Quote
+Stary Posted January 6, 2011 Author Posted January 6, 2011 (edited) yeah, it's the very same issue I had with setting seasons for Gepard's Taiwan after checking the weather chart I'm totally lost, seems Malibu and Eburger68 did smart thing creating two notrhern and southern terrains, not only campaign-wise I think given the average yearly rainfall level (and ruling out central region for simplicity sake ) the initial entry seems more like: WEATHER CHART Hanoi ( North) Danang (centre) Saigon(South) (Celsius) (mm) (Celsius) (mm) (Celsius)(mm) Jan 17 18|22 101|27 15 Feb 18 28|22 31|28 4 Mar 20 38|24 12|29 13 Apr 24 81|27 18|30 42 May 28 197|29 47|29 221 Jun 30 238|30 42|29 331 Jul 30 322|30 99|28 314 Aug 29 343|28 117|28 268 Sep 28 252|26 447|27 334 Oct 26 98|24 530|27 268 Nov 22 42|22 221|27 114 Dec 19 21|21 208|27 56 Edited January 6, 2011 by Stary Quote
Leidgenosse Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Another great terrain modification from you. Haven't found anything else matching as a big THANK YOU STARY!!! Greetings leidgenosse Quote
+Veltro2k Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Just installed this for the first time.....Game freezes while loading ??? Quote
lxsapper Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Hi, First of id like to thank Stary for his work, and for his work in this mod. Now I don't know if I installed it right, I am getting back to SF series and just getting into the 2 series. And I had tried Green Hell back in SFV. I dont remember if I tried Green Hell 2, or just the first incarnation. GH3 is graphically beautifull, but seems to be lacking that huge tree density I remember. I just Loved those Tree Packed Jungles. Am I doing something wrong? Do I have to change some setting? Thank you. Quote
+PureBlue Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 GreenHell is still great, but the terrain settings have been changed by some of the Patches. For one, object fading is implemented. Check the Options.INI in your MOD folder. Disable Fading and see if you like it. Quote
lxsapper Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Thanks PureBlue, yes you are right, GH3 is still great, no words to describe how much better than the stock terrain, it is. Your tip does make things look nicer, beeing able to see stuff from further away, but my lush thick jungles are slill gone :( Oh well better enjoy what we have. Quote
+Stary Posted January 6, 2012 Author Posted January 6, 2012 lxsapper, GH3 differens MUCH from the GH2 (which you really should try!) as I changed my approach to treemods in general, also GH3 was started for Wrench's Darwin map not Nam. Quote

Thanks Stary, I actually downloaded the Ground war expansion 2.0 wich I belive already brings GH2, haven't Installed yet, but as soon as I have some spare time I'm going to give it a go. Quote
gijas Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 How do I install this to Strike Fighters 2 Vietnam? I dont have the Darwin Map just the default Vietnam map as I just bought it. Some instructions would be great. Thanks. Quote
+Dave Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 You dont need the Darwin maop. Just dump the contents into the Terrains/VietnamSea folder. If you dont have one, then make that folder and dump the contents in there. The readme explains all. Quote
squid Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 (edited) Question (helpful i guess for new comers too, besides my dumbheadness) , can the Green Hell 2 as found in the SF1 section be used directly with SF2 too ? (if i am not mistaken there is no SF2 download for GH2) And if the SF1 download is not suitable out of the box for SF2 then the suitable one is found in the "SF2V Air & Ground War Expansion Pack" in the SF2 Missions & Campaigns downloads ? I dont have a VietnamSea folder but Green Hell has one in the zip so I just copied the folder with everything in it to Terrains. I do have a VietnamSea Security Catolog file in Terrains as well by default? Quote
+Dave Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 I do have a VietnamSea Security Catolog file in Terrains as well by default? You dont need it as it looks for it in your main install anyway. Quote
