Nesher Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 there were a lot of rumors about what happened.. ISIS claims that they have shutdown the a\c never the less.. sad news RIP. Quote
tonipm99 Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 RIP I hope that this accident helps making aircraft safer in the future. That's the only good thing that could ever come out of a tragedy like this. Quote

ISIS has released a video they claim that shows the missile shoot down. It looks like they've spliced together a lot of other footage, hard to tell. RIP Quote
+Gepard Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 The plane was in 10.000 meters ~ 30.000 feet. No way, that a Manpad missile can reach this altitude. It seems to be, that the plane broke into parts nearly at flightlevel and then spined down to earty in a vertical crash. Either it was a bomb on board or the tail section failed on fatal way and broke of the rest of the plane. An other theory say, that after a sharp climb the plane came into a stall and fall down nearly verticaly to earth. Will see what the air crash investigation commitee will find out. 1 Quote
JediMaster Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Reports of a heat flash seen by orbiting sat, so it was either a bomb or a fuel-related explosion. Quote

Based on what the debris field looks like in the video OP linked to, and the altitude from which the A/C fell, you're right in saying that the airframe must have broken up at its planned altitude, to say nothing of the lack of distress calls. Doesn't sound like pilot error, either, as A/C generally don't straight-up disappear from radar in good conditions without a little forewarning. Quote
MigBuster Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 The Russian plane crash in Sinai, Egypt, was caused by a terrorist attack as traces of explosives have been found in the wreckage of the plane, Federal Security Service director Aleksandr Bortnikov told President Vladimir Putin “During the flight, a homemade device with the power of 1.5 kilograms of TNT was detonated. As a result, the plane fell apart in the air, which can be explained by the huge scattering of the fuselage parts of the plane,” he added. https://www.rt.com/news/322393-russian-plane-crash-terrorist-attack/ Russia's security chief says an act of terror brought down the Russian A321 airliner in Egypt last month, killing all 224 people on board. "Traces of foreign explosives" were found on debris from the Airbus plane, FSB chief Alexander Bortnikov told Russian President Vladimir Putin. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-34840943 Quote
