USAF F-22 landing mishap yesterday 22 March 2022 at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.

The landing gear collapsed upon landing, causing the aircraft to veer off the runway. There are currently no reports of injuries.

It's really sad to see one of these jet land this way. To me the F-22 is one of the best fighter jet in the world and there are only limited numbers of them.

Sad, but in true military fashion the serial number will be retired, and they'll part it out down to the rivets.

It looks expensive.

I think in near future the combat plane will play the same role like the battleship in WW2. Technically masterpieces, but outdated by more modern systems. And the systems of the future will be drones.

i dunno. Raptor is a rare enough bird, they might put the money into patching her up.

but if not then yeah, she'll live on in the rest of the fleet

The B-2 they rebuilt seemed beyond salvaging after all. Not sure it is the same

Was thinking the same, didn't they spend about 5 years rebuilding one after a wheels-up landing?

Returned to service about a year or so back.

One day in the future, the AI:"You humans always have meaningless hatred because of stupid politics, kill each other, lack of unity, slow evolution, can not be the representative of earth civilization.I will replace humans as representative of earth civilization into the universe, you humans are already history."
