Did anyone see UncleAl here recently?
FastCargo replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hey folks, just wanted to chime in here to let people know what's going on. Unfortunately, uncleal was banned. The method we used is a 'one click' program that flags the culprit as a spammer. The effect is that every post ever made by that individual is deleted as well. Some of those posts may be recoverable. However, he was given absolutely every opportunity to not have this happen. Posts and threads were removed, edited. He was warned, multiple times in public and in private by several folks. There is an area called 'The Arena' on our website where we specifically allow controversial topics to be discussed (see here: http://combatace.com/topic/57713-political-discussions/ for more details). This area was created in large part for uncleal to play in. He was put on moderated status for a while as a 'you're quickly running out of rope' warning. Many posts were controversial and a few were borderline racist. In short, he was banned because he refused to respect the website. This forum is like a private party...you can play as long as you play by the rules. We'll let small stuff slide on a case by case basis. But if you're consistently obnoxious about not staying within the guidelines, you're not long for this website. Uncleal was actually given far more leeway than most members would get because he has contributed a significant amount to the OFF community. However, if you get to the point where you are pissing off the owner of the website (probably the most tolerant of all the admins and moderators), you're screwing up by the numbers. We understand that uncleal has had a rough time in the real world these last several years, which has shaped his outlook on life and online. It's not an excuse. We have members here who've had to deal with homelessness, clinical depression, addiction, debilitating cognitive or physical challenges, cancer and other illnesses. They don't use that as an excuse to behave badly here. Anyway, that's the full story of what has happened to uncleal. FC -
Er...no! They wouldn't fit anyway...I'd have to use 1/8A MMX engines. Just one big D or E. First flight is expected to be this weekend on a D12-3. FC

JDAMs are GPS guided weapons. They hit a coordinate, not a target. There are newer JDAMs with IR or other sensors designed to augment the GPS to hit moving targets. FC -
I would...now that I'm done having kids... Actually, I think is a good idea. If you don't plan on EVER having kids, or have had as many as you plan to, why not? At least you might win something... FC

I've fallen out for a couple of months now myself. Been building creations...just real rockets verses virtual aircraft. There's something nice about creating something with your hands and actually seeing it fly. I'll be back someday... FC

More flying in the last couple of months. Picture of some of the smaller rockets...includes a Satellite Interceptor (white) and a smaller version of the same rocket (red). Launch of the Satellite Interceptor: And at another launch, an upscale version of the Satellite Interceptor (over a meter long - custom built): Scratch built version of AGM-69A SRAM: SpaceShipOne: Interceptor (classic 60's 'space fighter' design): More fun to be had...soon the Saturns and my large Patriot cluster will fly again... I had this problem after a particular patch was installed for SF2V for the Classified Mission Mod. Afterward, the KC-135 that starts at takeoff would do exactly what you mentioned...start with it's gear up and crash immediately. I forgot what I did that fixed it....check the Classified Mission Mod and look at the specific mission to see what is different. FC

Ah hell...that sucks! Glad they made it all out okay, but a terrible loss. I'm split on the whole 'fly or don't fly' vintage bird thing. Personally, I don't like the idea of a flyable bird not flying. Unless it is literally the last aircraft of it's kind, anywhere, static or flying, I think it should fly. People need to see it. Especially if there are static versions of it around. And honestly, with sufficient money, interest, and time, just about ANY aircraft can be reproduced from the ground up...as in this example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Me_262_Project FC

Sorry to hear about that folks...good luck to ya. Watch out for those emails...the newest one I've seen is official looking emails from FedEx, UPS, or DHL. None of those companies will ever send you your 'package' info in a zip file. Plain text is usually the format they use. I'm not worried about keyloggers. I use my OSX partition to surf for porn...OSX was good for something... FC

Exactly correct. If you want to risk your own life with your own equipment, that's just fine and good on ya. However, once you risk spectator's lives and/or government equipment, especially for an impromptu 'airshow', you cross the line from 'cool' to 'reckless' and 'irresponsible'. FC

May 11 updates out now!

Hmmm...an engine that dies non-destructively after being run past limits too long? If that can be applied to a jet engine...it could solve a problem I've had with the F-84... FC -
Blue Angles Grounded for airshow mishap
FastCargo replied to MAKO69's topic in Military and General Aviation
Not necessarily. If he miscalculated the pull through altitude at the top of the maneuver, he may not have noticed he was too low. When you're coming through the vertical, the altimeter is winding very quickly and it can be hard to estimate when you're going to be level. In acro, hitting your 'gates' as you go through maneuvers is very important....and has been screwed up too many times to count. His wingies probably got spooked at the very end when they still saw a downward vector well below the min safe altitude. Good on him for admitting that he boned up. He's lucky though...no one was hurt. FC -

Sticky Suggestion
FastCargo replied to firehawkordy's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
firehawkordy, I can certainly understand your frustration. At one point, it had gotten so bad we had contemplated the idea that before someone could post for the first time, they had to answer a computer generated quiz that required them to use the search function and the knowledge base...a sort of 'primer' on how to help themselves. But that idea was dropped...one of the reasons being that the search function still has issues with alpha-numeric combinations (like aircraft designations) and inconsistent results with different users. And I agree, you can very plainly tell the difference between a person for which English is not their primary language, and a person who deliberately butchers the language because they're too lazy to form a cogent sentence. I'm not talking the occasional spelling or grammar gaff either, but things like 'chat' talk...or gawd forbid, 'l33t' speak. FC -
I'm glad someone explained that...cause Bounty in the states is a paper towel... FC
