    What a PITA these CACs are. I'm not sure if it's an inherent flaw with the tech or just the way the masterminds at the DoD have decided to implement them!

    True enough, I just don't think we'll be going out there...they'll just bring everything inside for us to look at.

    We have a couple of E-model Hornets here right now, plus a couple Beagles and the T-birds, but I'm not allowed on the flight line (I'm in IT, not flight ops) so I can't get any good pics.

    The video isn't bad because of the collision, it's bad because it's ALWAYS bad. Film cameras were far superior to video when it came to actually SEEING what is going on. Watch WWII gun camera footage, or Korea, or Vietnam...then watch Gulf War video...ugh.

    A and C are the same thing, A is just easier to install. B is older and lacks the fixes.

    I changed the rules of the test to make it possible to win. Got a commendation for original thinking. I don't like to lose.

    Ok, THAT is bizarre. I can honestly say I've never heard of that being a problem or a solution! Usually all that affects is what resolutions/timings Windows allows for your monitor. Weird.

    Don't click "buy" on that 5870 just yet. The AMD 6900 series comes out next month (the 6800 just came out, and while the number implies it they are NOT faster, just cheaper/cooler--the 6870 is much less than a 5870 while being about 5-10% slower) and will be the new top dog from them.

    We've been using drones for years now, this all sounds very recent. That's only a year ago! So as of 12 months ago this software was not being used in the field, but drones firing missiles were long before that. That means there's an older version of this software at a minimum that they could use.

    My guess would be that most lasers even at 50% strength are going to be too much. The other issue is polarizing the windows makes it likely more dangerous for the pilots anyway, as the windows are permanently tinted and night flying will be more difficult.

    Nice idea, we'll see how THAT goes.

    A polarizing screen will only work if they're polarized in the same direction. The guy with the handheld laser literally only has to rotate it a few degrees to defeat that.

    Have you tried 32 bit color instead of 16? to be honest I've never tried 16. The other thing is make sure the renderer is set at HW and not HW T&L. Also make sure you get the latest nvidia drivers, as in the ones from this week. They've just apparently restored proper DX7 operation to them, and F4:AF is listed specifically as one that works now.

    I wonder if we can find all 4 people who call the B-1B the Lancer.

    The Block 50/52 Viper isn't the best dogfighter. IIRC I've heard it's either the 30 or 40, but I forget which. They have the best t/w ratio. The 50/52 is heavier but doesn't have a thrust increase to cover it. That said the F-15C is hardly a spring chicken.

    Yes, I noticed you don't need 170 radars for 85 planes, so they were definitely upgrading older Eagles as well.

    Those shots of the Beagle just make me want the next DCS release to be that!
