  1. There's a lot of missions and campaigns available at lockonfiles.com, you could check there for some.
  2. There's a reason F4 came with a manual that was hundreds of pages long!
  3. From screenshots it looks like (to me) RV is better than stock F4:AF, but no it's still no LOMAC...and how old is LOMAC now anyway?? I can't wait for DCS: Black Shark, due later this year (crossed fingers).
  4. WOI has a Mirage III out of the box with its own cockpit, plus there are other Mirages here. You can make the MiG-21s in any of the TW sims flyable, but they don't have a dedicated cockpit. However, you can DL a cockpit for them or an entire new MiG-21 w/cockpit from our files. There's also maybe 200 other odd planes you can download including helos and recon and transports and bombers. I never played Jane's USAF, but I played ALL of the preceding ones: USNF, USMF, ATF, NATO, USNF 97, and IAF. TW's sims are indeed the successor to that style of flight sim, but of course things are much better as far as graphics. Go to the screenshot thread in the WOV/WOI forums and you'll see what it looks like.
  5. Well, you can do that while I keep spending lots of time in ArmA. I've got 100 hrs in it according to Xfire, but that's incomplete because I was playing it before X fire started tracking it and since I've been using the 1.09 and now 1.11 betas, those aren't tracked either. I've got to have 120+ hrs in it at this point...all but maybe 2 hours in MP!
  6. I just don't know what to think about this.
  7. Well, "very often" isn't the same thing as "100%". TK's sims are "fairly dynamic."
  8. Looking very good!
  9. Ah yes, the dreaded "NWS off" realization as you taxi into the dirt.
  10. Yes. It can be debated on some things, but on that specifically there's no question.
  11. I don't know a thing about MSFS, but I know for LOMAC there's no simple "add on" aircraft. From what I understand, you have to replace one of the planes in the game to get a "new" plane and it's mostly cosmetic. For instance, many have replaced the Su-33 with the F-14 as it's a carrier-capable plane. However, you still have the Su-33 cockpit and flight dynamics. You can go on to adjust that so it flies more like an F-14, but it's not easy. In short, other than skins LOMAC was never made as a moddable "open" sim like MSFS and the TW series are.
  12. Thomas has all the latest stuff at lockonfiles.com. LOMAC has never been a heavily trafficked sim here.
  13. I've got about a 80% success rate evading missiles in LOMAC, unless the missile is either fired at very close range (no time to evade) or I get hit by missile #2 while evading #1! The multiple-missile inbound scenario is the worst. I will grant I've been flying this series since Flanker 1 over 10 years ago, of course.
  14. Um, Brainless, unless he's posted in the wrong place by accident, he was asking about LOMAC.
  15. The never-flown in real life Ta-183 in the game is indeed the design on which planes like the F-86, MiG-15, MD 450 Ouragan, and others were based. Many others were "dead ends".
  16. My 8800GTS gives no trouble, but I'm using XP Pro still! It seems to be an 8800/Vista thing with ArmA. There's a 1.11 beta you could try that might help.
  17. Expensive, though. Not the burners, those are like $30. I mean the media compared to standard SL DVDs. It's a lot more than 2x the cost for only 2x the space! Only useful for something that's over 5GB that MUST be on a single disc, like say a slipstreamed OS install.
  18. I think that was one F-22's cockpit in a single instance. I'm sure there have been many instances over the years of other planes with stuck canopies. The major deal here was it was the newest plane in inventory, the plane is expensive, and they had to saw the canopy open to unstick it. I hardly think a single instance like that could call into question the entire plane's design. That's like saying the US military's reliability should be called into question because one soldier kills his wife or another rapes a civilian. Machines are machines, people are people. Only reason I would normally think of a lawsuit like this is for medical bills, but as noted the gov't is supposed to pay for all that. If he's going to be permanently grounded over it, I don't think it would be a career-ender. Maybe it won't be the same career he envisioned, but if he'd been shot down by a SAM over enemy territory he'd likely not be in any better shape, and you can't sue insurgents or another country for shooting you down and ruining your career! I'm just not sure what to make of this.
  19. They've made "universal" AAMs for a long time now, yes. IR or SARH (or even ARH), but never for AGM applications.
  20. No, you're right. I'm amazing, too.
  21. Hey! You got your polar bear in my black bear! Hey! You got your black bear in my polar bear! Two great bears that go together...pretty lame.

  23. Just remember--we might screw up Earth enough to kill ourselves off, but we won't hurt the Earth (unless we nuke the whole surface). The Earth has been thru a lot worse than our puny butts.
  24. Many dynamic campaigns also have built-in repair routines so that if you take long enough to revisit a target it will be fixed. The best way to know if you have a sim with a dynamic campaign vs a static one is to start over with the same plane/base and see what happens. Do you get the same mission every time, like LOMAC or Longbow? It's static. Do you get a different target/set of circumstances, like F4, RB3D, Longbow 2? It's dynamic.
  25. You need to be in a mission that has it (it's not always there) and you should be able to find it as another runway when in NAV mode. Make sure you're in the Su-33, too, or you could be in for a rude surprise on landing.
