  1. I don't think I've heard fighter tactics described that way before...
  2. Heh, I personally tend to find discretion the better part of valor when facing 17s in a Rhino and I make like Arthur's Knights: "Run away!!" I'll have to try those numbers, though.
  3. Well, "considering" has many levels to it. Of course, what a gov't wants and what its air force wants can be very different.
  4. Well, the truth is fighter numbers are dwindling worldwide. A group of 40 F-22s would likely be able to dominate the skies of almost any country on Earth right now, the exceptions likely being only massive countries like India, China, and Russia. There geography alone requires more. While it would be great if more than 180 Raptors were built, the sad fact is the money isn't there. I think the regular Su-27 has better visibility than the twin-seat models, the twin Flankers just look the 2nd cockpit is kludged back there. The F-15 twin seaters don't sacrifice as much rear vision.
  5. It varies between $3.46-3.56/gal around here right now, no rhyme or reason as to why the fluctuations, sometimes little over a mile between stations. I should clarify that's only my car, though. The wife has a company car and gas/maintenance is free. We use that on the weekends unless we're getting something big that only my 4Runner can carry (which is why we got it).

    ummmmmm?

I have the entire series, the 4 special discs with live appearances, specials, and rarities, and all the movies except And Now For Something Completely Different. I also have a few CDs worth of their audio stuff which often was unique (never done on film/live) or done differently (weatherman lumberjack sketch, instead of the barber for instance).
  7. I mean as far as being reliable. Maybe they take physical damage well, but as far as RUNNING they seem to be less stable, crashing a lot, running hot and slow (no ventilation, just use the bottom as a giant heatsink), and overall a PITA to use. At least you can use them as wheel chocks.
  8. They did use something like that in one of the Bond films. Die Another Day maybe? The difference is they were "switchblades" and the jumper was on top, lying prone. It had wings, tail, and a jet. They got close enough they pulled the ripcord and then landed silently. Of course, that was done via FX, they don't really exist.
  9. Tranquility Base 2008?
  10. I've never manually added any skins to any of the Il-2 series myself. Only got them via patches/updates and DLing them from servers I've been online with...
  11. I played that! On my Atari 400! It had a cockpit with nothing really moving in it and no outside view, just white. The worst part was the kamikaze nuclear MiGs! They'd scramble, get closer and closer, and then NUCLEAR DETONATION!

    Sour !

A few years ago we had a guy bring in a bag of Sour Skittles. Then we had good fun all day getting people to try one and watching as, without exception, they made that "ugh, sour!" face as they ate it. Of course, the funniest part was watching the guy who brought the bag eat most of it himself and make that face EVERY TIME he ate one.
  13. Those stupid "toughbooks" are anything but.
  14. I saw that flick. It was not was I expecting at all. It was more a psychological thing. I mean, more than half the film is Sikking and Elizondo in a room talking!
  15. Doesn't the ATC at the airfield usually look at something like that and send a comm that gear is up? Or is that place too busy for them to be able to?
  16. The square wingtips of the 27 vs the rounded of the 29 are the best identifier in this case. There's also definitely a difference in the nose shape, but that's not quite as clear here.
  17. It's already on DVD. The so-called "Final Cut" which doesn't seem THAT different from the Director's Cut from 15 years ago to me. It looks and sounds great, though, thanks to remastering. I got it a few months ago on Bluray, awesome set.
  18. No, that's definitely a 29. Camo scheme is wrong for a 27, plus it's not from the wingtip itself, it's from the left outboard underwing pylon.
  19. I can't believe "good weather" is now considered a plausible reason for an escalation of violence!
  20. They claim this year, nothing more than that.
  21. Got my fingers crossed on this one fixing the shortcomings still in ArmA!
  22. I must have over 150 hrs in it so far...but less than 5 in solo missions and I've not even started any of the campaigns! All of it in MP, most with SimHQ, but some with some other guys I know.
  23. Crysis quite literally seems to be the only game out there that can't be played at an acceptable level of performance on any hardware currently available. It's become the defacto benchmark for new CPUs and GPUs by virtue of that fact. However, at medium/high detail on my C2D 3GHz and my 8800GTS 512MB it ran quite well. I admit I found the beginning of the game vs the soldiers more entertaining than the SF stuff at the end, much as Far Cry was more fun fighting mercs than monsters, but it was still great fun. The final battle at the aircraft carrier will literally bring any system around to its knees!
  24. Mad Doc hasn't done anything I've really liked since...well, ST Armada 2, and I wouldn't say I "really liked" that. I thought it was ok, but in some ways a step back from Armada 1.
  25. ORR is a blast, albeit very frustrating at times!!
