  1. Besides, what other sims CAN you fly these newer planes in anyway? It seems most sims focus on the 80s/90s planes. Sure there WERE a bunch of F-22 sims in days past, but none released recently. There was only one JSF sim made, and that was the X-35 anyway. It's not like I'm asking for much, I just want a sim that will let me fly and fight in every plane from the Maurane Bullet to the one that will put the F-35 out of business.
  2. Right, like the pilot.
  3. Ooh, I'd love to see the Bone in WoX!
  4. Actually, WoV doesn't get changed. The WoE installer will pull the terrain and planes from WoV into it and make a merged WoE. The WoV stays as it is. However, if you're interested in Vietnam then the Euro terrain means nothing. I forget which planes WoE came with out of the box, but generally I think all the Vietnam-applicable ones were already in WoV.
  5. If by "interesting" you mean "exposed them to a ton of ADA and SAMs that resulted in unfortunate losses"...

    WoV Water FX

    Oooooh...
  7. I don't remember any ladders in the demo, but in the full version an icon appears on screen when you can use it, and clicking the mouse wheel makes you mount the ladder. While you can still fall off the top when trying to get on one to go down, I find it actually easier NOT to fall to my death than standard FPS games where you "look" that way and hope you get it right.
  8. I've got a 19" 4:3 monitor from ViewSonic and it's great, but I'd hesitate to get a monitor that wasn't WS now. Most newer games do/will support it, but if you play many older ones you may have some troubles, so it does depend on your intended use.
  9. LOL, that's also why I barely fly F4 anymore. I've had the thing in various iteration from stock to RP to FF to F4:AF for 8 years and I never became really proficient at it. It could be too much like work, so I only fly it occasionally. TK's sims require no time investment to just jump in and go, only the modding does and that's totally voluntary. It adds to the enjoyment, but it's not necessary. Except perhaps for FE, where you could argue the tiny number of flyables OOTB begs for mods.
  10. The terrain reminds me of F4, actually.
  11. Look out McDonald's!

The only choice they can make is whether to put on that uniform. Once they do, their fate is no longer theirs to make, and they must put their trust in their leaders and their training. It saddens me when one or the other lets them down, although I think it's obviously one more than the other.

Yes, Genesis! How can you be deaf with ears like that??
  14. Of course, the worst part of this experience will be the food.
  15. I've played quite a bit of coop ArmA the last week or so and I'm loving it. While it still has issues that need fixing bug-wise and some of the OFP legacy annoyances are there, it is definitely better than OFP in every way. If you're on the fence about getting this one, get down and get it! It doesn't matter what version you get, either, as the 1.05 patch normalizes all versions (DL or DVD, any country) to the same state. It will be getting a N America release in May which means it will show up in retail here instead of requiring mail order or digital DL.
  16. I think his post was partially to deflate expectations (which are always too high) and partially to surprise when it did come out. There are 2 ways to do a game. You can make MP the focus and let the AI be morons ("This game is primarily about online play so we didn't focus on the AI"--see the BF games among others) or you skip much in MP and make SP the focus. TK's games are all about the SP with only a simple MP component, so he knows the AI is what you're flying with and against all the time. While he's limited in how much he can do in the time he has, he knows it's important to the game.
  17. The differences between the 2 are slight, and those pictures aren't clear enough to offer easy identifiers, so it could be the N-9M too.

    Close Call

I saw a piece on the news the other day, I think it was an adjunct to the Walter Reed story (which I won't go into here!), talking about how severe concussions are the most common injury over there. IEDs knock people unconscious all the time. They're taken to the medics and looked over, and most of the time just dusted off and returned to duty. However, the question was at what point is it too many times? Once or twice is no major issues, but one soldier said it was like his seventh time! Taking blows to the head like that, even if it's just a shockwave, that often IS dangerous.

Tell me it's black when I know that it's white... Always the same it's just a shame that's all.

  21. Perhaps they're too busy flying to post about it?
  22. At the very least, this thread has given us some insight into the reactions of a "brand new user" with no prior expectations or knowledge. While there's not too much that can likely be done on TK's side to improve that initial "OOB experience" without changes in funding/manning, it does indicate that we must realize someone's expectations, based on the established franchises like MSFS, might be a little higher than the stock game can meet. Fortunately, Twobob has not rejected the game out of hand but took the time to look into it and see what he can do to improve things.
  23. It's always worthwhile to get your name in print! At least, as long as it's not associated with the terms "alleged" or "indictment."
  24. I fly them for different things. I don't fly much F4 anymore because of the time required to stay proficient with it. I don't really forget LOMAC too much, the only difficult plane in it is the Su-25T with Flaming Cliffs. After you spend an hour trying to fight in the 25T the other planes feel simpler than those in SFP! When I have an urge to fly "different" planes not available elsewhere, or I only have 30 mins, or I just want to mess around, the SFP series is where I go. When I have an hour or so and feel a little more "pilot like" I play LOMAC. When I have 2 hours and feel like my life has been too low-stress lately, I fly F4:AF.
