Wow, putting Macross, anime and realism in one sentence...that's bold. It's basically instant death for every sarcasm detector. Anyway, while I have absolutely no interest in anime stuff (it's simply to silly for my taste, sorry) I'd love to see a X-Wing and perhaps even a TIE Fighter in-game. The FM should be interesting...

Airbus to change A400M contracts to curb losses
Gocad replied to BUFF's topic in Military and General Aviation
The A400M program has been a disaster from day one. -
According to CNN (link) the US Air Force will annouce this week which bid has been selected. It has been a more or less fierce competition, with one company (Boeing) arguing that this contract would save numerous jobs, whereas the other (EADS, in cooperation with Northrop) promised to create lots of new jobs, as it would manufacture its aircraft (based on the A330) in the US. Sure, it wouldn't be the first time for EADS to win a large manufacturing contract in the states (anybody wants to buy a Lakota?), but on the on the other hand Boeing's defense section seems to be in trouble (no new fighter contracts, the C-17 program won't run much longer either) recently. Of course, there's also the question which aircraft is better suited for replacing the KC-135. So, who do you think will make it?

New campaign parameters (WOI)
Gocad replied to Johan217's topic in Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
I did bring this up becuase after I had moved the front line on Edward's Western Desert map further east I got a mission to strike a target (flying for the German side) that was actually inside my territory. When I checked the target area I was told to attack it turned out that its allegiance was still set to FRIENDLY (which made it an English base). It was a single mission, though. Anyway, I really like what you've posted about the campaign code changes. -
Thanks! And yeah, the nose sections looks indeed a bit strange.

New campaign parameters (WOI)
Gocad replied to Johan217's topic in Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Good point, but if you change the front line (i.e. move it further south), would the allegiance of the target areas that might now be on the other side, switch also? Because the front line doesn't tell you at all which target areas (cities, airbases, etc.) are hostile and which are friendly... -
Meh. I do agree with "sticking to your priorities", but that doesn't change the fact that we do not have enough (none, actually) E-Wing Spitfires (IX & XIV)...and that's unacceptable. (At least for me.) But for now I'm already pleased to know that craig is considering to make a XIVE (clipped wings, NO bubble canopy pls), because based on the pics of his Typhoon I'm quite sure that it would be a magnificent model...

Front lines did move already when a ground offensive was on, but it would be cool if you could move them on a specfic date set in the campaign_data file. -

New campaign parameters (WOI)
Gocad replied to Johan217's topic in Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Interesting. -
Fun fact: I had made those squadron decals (about 60, mostly Spitfire, but also a few Typhoon units) before I began to do those skins. I'm tempted to say that the skins exist because of the decals and not vice versa.
-
Hey, this sounds familiar. Back on topic, I did see similar artifacts when I was tinkering around with the decal placement on the Spitfire, i.e. a fuselage roundel bleeding through the engine section. Barely noticeable, but it could be seen. IIRC, it's a model issue and I don't think you can't do much about it. I think something similar has come up before and that was the explanation...at least according to what I remember. capun is probably the only one who could give you a definite answer. Btw, is the fuselage roundel a decal or part of the texture?
-
Well, sort of. I did edit the stock '79 campaign to include carrier-based US Navy units.
-
stock WOE Tornado? Nah. Check the knowledge base. There's an article that explains how to add those rails. EDIT: D'oh.
-
sorry for the triple post Yeah, yet another skin, but this time it's a Seafire. Nothing fancy, just the regular FAA Day scheme: However, I'm a bit a at loss regarding the unit markings. It's easy to find information about those regarding the RAF Spitfire units, but about the Royal Navy Seafire units. I do which units had them, but I have only inconclusive info on how they were marked. Some pictures show Seafires with markings similar to the RAF Spitfires, but other pictures show them without any recognizable Squadroncodes or so. Thus I would be grateful if anybody could enlighten me in this matter.
-
And? Was it not fun to do that youself? Speaking of WWII installs, can somebody explain me why a plane can be either available before or after 1945? I.e. 1945-2020 or 1942-1945, but not 1942-2020? At least that is what I have seen so far...
-
I should have known. Thanks!
-
EDIT: ignore this post.

What is your favourite 'add-on' aircraft and why?
Gocad replied to Spinners's topic in General Discussion
I guess I have two: The MF Crusader(s) and the Dev A-Team Spitfire(s). Who would have thought of that? But to be honest, it's really hard to pick a favorite among the numerous magnificent addons that have been released so far. They're all great. -
Here you can see why I wouldn't even dare to think about doing so... Anybody know which texture is used for Tank075_P51 or the 60lb rocket?
-
I think FastCargo is/was experimenting with it. Either that or he's really good at formation flying. Check the Screenshot of the Day thread (you'll need to go a few pages back, though)
