  1. Our very own Wrench has made it through another year....Happy Birthday, Kevin! If Baghdad Bob were still around, I'm sure that he'd honor you with the "Infidel of the month" award (yet again)
  2. Read the SF2 knowledge base. Everything's explained there.
  3. You could theoretically create a secondary gun, but the same caveat applies: No effect on IR or Radar seekers.
  4. It is possible to create a rocket pod that uses the chaff and flare effects (and sounds for each), but the game egine will not recognize them as IR or Radar decoys, so other than providing eye and ear candy, it would be pretty useless in game-play.
  5. The AIM-4 earned the sobriquet "the $250,000 turn signal", because as the AIM-4 flew by a MiG without detonating, its contrail signaled the MiG pilot to perform a hard break.
  6. It sounds as if you're either attempting to place them the wrong folder (the one under program files x86), or, you're not logged on as an administrator.
  7. LOL...I recall going Through a ton of money feeding my S&W Model 629 .44, and my Colt 1911 ACP. I got just as much out of shooting my High Standard Victor .22LR, and I could buy several bricks (500 round boxes) of 22LR for the same price as just one 50 round box of .45 ammo. I also had a Beeman R1 air rifle, chambered for .177 (IIRC, you could also get them in .20 and .22 caliber). I had tons of fun killing empty soda cans in my friend's scrap yard with that rifle. I recall paying just under $200 US for one back in 1981. I recently saw a new R1 priced at an eye-watering $619! I should have held on to mine.
  8. There's nothing you can mod in that area. Sounds are associated with specific coded events, and those can only be added by the developer (ThirdWire), and not by any modder.
  9. No true, though I've heard that Brian Johnson quit, and was replaced by a new lead, some guy named Loo Flirpa
  10. Ruger 10-22 .22LR with, and without silencer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GbjXvH7xJA&feature=related
  11. Many years ago (mid 1970s), my friend's dad used to winter store his boat at a yard in Tom's River, NJ. The dock master there used to keep a .22 revolver handy (I believe it was a 6" Colt Diamondback), due to the preponderance of rats that seemed to invade his yard every spring. He kept it loaded with either .22 shorts or .22LR snake-shot, and I recall that it was really quiet. In fact the loudest sound it emitted was either the "ping" of the hammer, or the "smack" that the round made when it struck a rat. It actually sounded more like a pneumatic pop-rivet gun, than a firearm. Years later, just for grins, I tried the plastic-bottle silencer trick with a Ruger 10-22. The muzzle report was muted down to a soft pop, but the round still made the characteristic, super-sonic "crack" as it passed through the bottle.

  13. Let's see...sometimes I begin my mornings with taylor ham, egg, and cheese on bagel, with a side of hashbrowns from either Dunkin' Donuts, or from my local bagel shop. Add a 16 oz carton of OJ, backed up by a 24 oz coffee (with cream and sugar), and you'll easily approach your daily limit of calories and cholesterol, in one easy to carry and eat meal... And that's just the start of the day!
  14. Something HAS to be missing, or misnamed for that to happen.
  15. Somethings screwed-up, big time. Looks as if someone's messed with the weapon's call out. In your installs groundobject folder, look for the SA-10L folder, and once inside, look for the SA-10L_data.ini. Now, open the SA10L_data,ini with notepad, scroll down to the Launcher Tube entries. There should be 4 of them, numbered "[LauncherTube01]" through "[LauncherTube04]". Make sure that they all have this line: WeaponTypeName=SA-10 Next, check your weapons folder for the SA-10 folder (these contain the missile files). There has to be one in there in order for this to work. Inside that folder should be four files. 1)5V55K.bmp 2)5V55K.LOD 3)SA-10.ini 4)SA-10_data.ini Let us know if any of them are missing.
  16. It's not any of the aforementioned . It's an issue in the solid object texture entry in the terrain data.ini, caused by how the terrain engine (now) calls out the objects, as opposed to how Stary set them up, originally. And to clarify things, the object in question is a windmill.
  17. Neither series handles blast-effect on terrain objects very well (though ground-objects are easily killed within the blast radius). Terrain objects such as hangers are best taken out with a direct-impact weapon. Lowering any of their damage values or expanding their damage points simply make them susceptible to being destroyed by light machine gun fire, which is much more unrealistic, IMO.
  18. Congrats to you and the Missus, Dave

Well, someoine better tell ICQ: USAFMTL has a birthday Today is USAFMTL's birthday! Send USAFMTL a greeting card

    HOLY s**t!

    It's Dave's birthday
  21. Black tracers? What in God's name for? They'll be illuninated grey anway, at night The tracer TGAs can be found in the first object folder, and when you create a new/modded one, you must place them in the objects folder, and if they're unique to a specific weapon (gun), you'll have to make the appropriate changes to that gun's data.ini. KillerBee spelled it out in the knowledge base.
  22. They have little or nothing to do in this series, so I don't use them. In theory, one can extrapolate CL0 from the CL value, but since there's no provision for calculating (or even directly inputting) data for the various airfoil types, I find it a moot point. Creating a precise V-N curve, and applying it to the series, is likewise moot. Try it, and see what happens This should be of help: http://adg.stanford.edu/aa241/structures/vn.html
  23. No offense, but did it ever occur to you that perhaps people have real lives outdside of simming? Number one, percentage of Cla divided among wing panels is arbitrary, in a common-sense sort of way. Inner wing panels generally have a deeper chord than outer panels, and this is where common sense comes in. What do you think creates more lift, an A-4's (or F-4, or MiG-21, or F-15, or an Su-27's) outer wing panel, or the inner wing panels? An Israeli F-15 once landed with a mere stub of a wing remaining....what does that tell you? As for which Mach level to use when calculating CLa, again, that's common sense. TK uses Mach 0.4...or you can use Mach 1.0, or Mach 0.05....remember that there are CLa Mach tables. Common sense at work, yet again.
  24. Just about all combat aircraft have a "gear-down, weapons-safe" feature, so it is realistic. And, gamewise, that feature is hard-coded, so no, you cannot disable it.
  25. The TMI accident occured on March 28, 1979, not 1987. It was essentially over within a week, although it took them about 1 month to finally shut the reactor down.
