  1. You can always modify the effect to use the TW contrail emitter (which is what the default SAM inflight-effect uses).
  2. The effect you've shown is probably hitting the limit of particles that can be assigned per emitter. The same particle-limit issue effects third-party exhaust emitters, as well.
  3. And that is precisely what he told you. Put your thinking cap on on
  4. That's not a bug. The addon tanks you must be using are the bug, as Thirdwire has been incorporating tanks into the model .lod for some time now.
  5. SFP1 speech mods will work in SF2.
  6. That's done to help prevent the execution of malicious code inside of critical folders within Windows 7 (and Vista).
  7. Yes, you can simply move it. Renaming it will not help, as it needs to be out of the Program Files (x86) directory.
  8. What directory did you install the game into? Installing it into "Program Files(x86)" explains this behavior, as by default, Windows Vista & 7 prohibit you from editing files installed into that directory. Either install it directly to the root directory ("C"), or into your saved games folder. That way, you can edit it to your heart's content.
  9. I've been using 16-bit, 44050 hz mono wav sounds successfully in ThirdWire titles for the last 8 years.
  10. Once you purchase FRAPS, you won't to pay for updates or even entirely new versions of it.
  11. LOL...OMG! What was it that General Patton once said regarding eloquence in speech? "You can’t run an army without profanity; and it has to be eloquent profanity. An army without profanity couldn’t fight its way out of a piss-soaked paper bag. … As for the types of comments I make, sometimes I just, By God, get carried away with my own eloquence."
  12. A preview of what's to come....
  13. Unfortunately, that one's not hosted online....
  14. By time machine, you mean like so? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Odyssey_of_Flight_33 Watch it here (if you're in the 'States) http://www.cbs.com/classics/the_twilight_zone/video/?pid=QtRBzkFCjj4mF1ATSeikwnb1ZCNS6_Je&vs=Default&play=true
  15. Are you sure that you did not CUT and paste instead? Double check the folders.
  16. Having a newer graphics card with 1 GB will allow you to run at the same frame rate or even slightly faster than you are now, with most of the eye candy turned on. But anything that's dependent on processing power (trees, large numbers of complex objects, horizon distance) will still slow you down, until you upgrade to a faster, more capable processor and faster RAM.
  17. Any good Nvidia or ATI card will do....you do not need a $200-$300 card....I'm using a GeForce 250GTS and I often exceed 100 FPS, and average in the 40s and 50s, with lows in the high 20s-low 30s.
  18. Video Ram....you've stated that your GeForce 8800 has 256 mb of it.
  19. You need more VRAM. A video adapter with 1 GB of VRAM is considered routine today. Also, lower your horizon distance to normal (if you have not donw so already)...that's the absolute biggest frame rate killer in a stock or mildly modded install.
  20. 23 mm and 37 mm Tracer effects...
  21. 3: The missile's seeker is passive, and relies on the reflected radar energy from the target and follows it, though being "semi-active, it compensates for target motion, or "lead" (beam riders do not). The launch platform must still illuminate the target, all the way through to impact.
  22. Unfortunately, no....We've asked TK for advanced HUD features since 2004-2005, and its not very high up on his list of priorities
  23. The path should Objects/Decals/Aircraft Name/Texture Name (and in some cases /D)
