  1. The SF2 flight dynamics engine is essentially the same as that of the first gen with the '08 patch installed. Thus, helos must be flown under a normal flight setting. They are, for all intents and purposes, all but uncontrollable under hard flight settings.
  2. Sure, but be forewarned, it has no animations.
  3. In a word, no. One can neither set the mesh, nor the cat, to follow the profile of the ramp. If you adjust the catapult end-stroke elevation, the aircraft appear to be jumping several meters off the deck at the begining of the cat shot. However, MarcFighter's Su-33 is endowed with the ability to get airborne after a short run, making it appear as if it were following the ramp slope angle. 30 knots worth of virtual wind across the bow helps, too
  4. I was playing around with a crappy, low-poly model of one over two years ago....sent it to a 3D guru, and that was the last I heard of it: http://combatace.com/topic/38557-uh-dave/page__view__findpost__p__263930
  5. Depends on the sun and view angle.
  6. Ulyanovsk in-game, effects test: Bow wave.wmv
  7. I'm having no issues with seasons changing...it seems to do so now progressively by date, so each mission is flown 3-9 days after the previous one. In otherwords, It takes 10-15 consecutive missions in order for one to see a change of season, from beginning to end.
  8. Any good, free hex-editor will work, as long as it can read both ASCI (for some 3rd party models) and the SF2 default, which is Unicode.
  9. I suggest that you take a waveoff.....
  10. You can also use specific calander dates (not just years). For example, you can arrange it so that the USAF does not exist before 18 September, 1947 (the date it became a separate branch of the military).
  11. That's the issue, right there. When I switched to Windows 7, my FRAPS 2.9.5 refused to work in any TW title. The latest release of FRAPS works well, though. Just upgrade to it, and you'll be fine.
  12. Well, you're a modeler.... Build 3D models of, say, Outback Steak houses, place them liberally around your terrain of choice, and I'm sure that the giant bovine issue will soon cease to be a problem
  13. If you're running the latest patch level (May 2011) the answer to your question is a resounding "NO!", that is, until TW addresses the issue in the next patch.
  14. Of course. It needs a cockpit and/or a the appropriate cockpit line in it's .ini file in order to be flyable (you'll also require an avionics.dll and avionics.ini file in order to have a working radar and RWR). All that's in the knowledge base.
  15. IIRC, they only finished one prototype of the '44 before scrapping the project.
  16. The Kiev? It's been relegated to escort duty Seriusly, I've asked Marcelo's permission to release it as is...we can only wait for his OK.
  17. How much RAM (system memory) or you running? 1024 MB or less is not enough to run Windows 7 or Vista well, let alone with the added memory load imposed by a modern game or sim. Your system would be much happier with 2 GB, and will run best with 4 or more GB of RAM. Also, your graphics card isn't really a ideal for this sort of work, a 512 frame buffer was great three of four years ago, 1024 is pretty much the accepted minimum standard today, even on entry level cards.
  18. The default mapping for the TW 17s is just "OK". Please refer to Wrench's reply regarding AI-only birds for clarification. I agree with his explanations that the AI-birds were meant only to serve as targets, and are therefore expected to die in a grotesque, military manner. If I were penning up a new 3D model for the '17, I would certainly not utilize TW's existing mapping scheme. Funny that the same cannot be said for TW's MIG-21P & MF series, which sport fairly decent 3D models and mapping.
  19. But, does it look anything like this?
  20. "Why do you feel that you must carry a .50 caliber Desert Eagle?" Because they don't chamber one for .60...
