Yes, and being that launch platform has launched an SAHM, the AI must maintain lock while the missile guides towards you. -

You've conveniently overlooked the fact that it clearly shows sunlight having to travel further due to seasonal differences in the sun's apparent altitude. Dusk conditions generally occur earlier and last longer at temperate latitudes during late autumn and winter, just as dawn occurs later and lasts longer during those same months. The effect of cold winter air on general atmospheric clarity is well-known, but that's not what I was alluding to. -

You're confusing acquisition mode with active missile guidance. -

All RWRs in-game simulate the detected emissions from radars on aircraft, ground units, or ships. They do not, and cannot, detect emissions from missiles, whether they be active homing (AIM-54, AIM-120, R-77, etc) or not. Semi-active homing missiles do not emit radar energy, in real life, nor in-game. -

Ahhhh...have you ever seen a real Winter's dawn (or sunset), Lexx? It's far far redder than any Summer's dawn that I've ever experienced...as the sun has to shine through the atmosphere at a much more oblique angle. Unless, of course, you're attempting to create a "Skies of the planet Tralfamadore" mod -

LCOS and radar-ranging gunsights have been part of the series since the beginning. Here's a concise article on the subject: http://www.simhq.com/_air/air_018a.html The pertinent file that determines what is or is not allowable on aircraft models is (appropriately ) named, the aircraftobject.dll. Its editable counterpart is the aircraftobject.ini. There's a statement in the latter that declares whether or not gun unjam attempts are allowable. There are often statements in the .dll that aren't declared in the .ini file...there may be one there that turns gun jams on, or off. -
Anyone here own a Mazda? If so, guess were it was built...Hiroshima!

I don't think so, Michael. Most of the stories regarding the Japanese surrender qualify as myths. The fact remains that the Japanese did not respond to the Potsdam Ultimatum. And that's a well documented historical fact, not a myth. Surrender Chronology This is taken from our daily chronology pages -- more of specific Russian interface may be added later. May 8 . VE Day. Germany surrenders May 18. Japanese ambassadors in Europe warn of transfer of troops and material to the Pacific is underway. June 6 . Japanese government begins 3-day conference with Emperor to discuss the war. June 8 . Imperial Conference with Emperor : "the nation will fight to the bitter end." June 9 . Keeper of Privy Seal, Kido, begins search for "peace with honor" within civil government. June 24. Japan asks Soviets to extend Neutrality Pact. June 29. Japan offers Soviets fishing concessions for oil. July 12. Japanese inquire of Russia about terms. Not forwarded. July 17. Potsdam Conference begins. July 21. Allies radio Japan : "Surrender or be destroyed." July 22. First troops from Europe arrive Philippines. Spies, no doubt, report this. July 26. Potsdam Ultimatum to Japan : surrender unconditionally or face 'utter destruction.' July 27. Japanese cites "bombed" with leaflets telling to surrender or be destroyed. July 28. Japan rejects Potsdam Declaration by silence. Aug 2 . Potsdam conference ends. Aug 6 . Hiroshima -- one plane destroys a target.1 Aug 8 . Japanese Supreme Council demands : 1. keep Imperial family , 2. disarm own troops , 3. no war crimes , 4. limited occupation of Japan. USSR invades Manchuria [per Yalta agreement]; declares war on Japan. Aug 9 . Nagasaki A-bombed.2 Aug 10. Emperor concludes to Cabinet the time had come to "bear the unbearable". August 11-12. Radio and diplomatic notes seeking terms. Aug 13. Allied firm response. General Ohnishi plea made to commit twenty million lives (kamikaze) to victory. Aug 14. Japan accepts the provisions of the Potsdam Declaration and starts diplomatic process to surrender. Coup attempt within Japanese government put down. 15Aug. (Aug 14 in U.S.3) Emperor speaks to the nation: "... the enemy has recently made use of an inhuman bomb4 ..." Second strike of morning is canceled while en route; pilots jettison their ordnance and return to carriers. Four former enemy were shot down as background while Halsey read his "the war is ended" speech to the fleet. Three more attacking bombers were downed later in the day.5 Source: http://www.ww2pacific.com/surrnote.html

Water injection cools down the combustion process enough to allow the introduction of more fuel (in the case of jets) and higher supercharger boost pressures (in the case of reciprocating engines). Both scenarios result in an increase of thrust or horsepower then would otherwise be possible without engine damage. -
Sorry, but that's quite wrong, and is distorted rubbish. The Japanese made preparations to fight down to the last civilian. And they recalled almost 2 MILLION troops back from Manchuria, to help repel the expected invasion. At that time, they also held a huge number of slave laborers (possibly as many as 300,000!), which were to be executed in advance of any invasion. The dropping of the A-bombs stopped this barbaric act from occurring. My neighbor's father was with the occupation force in Japan during late '45 and '46, and he told us stories of the vast weapons caches that were found and destroyed (including a dry dock filled with dozens of suicide subs), along with printed materials detailing how civilians were expected to resist the invasion, and how to fashion crude gas-masks to protect them from the toxic gases that the Japanese military intended to use against the invaders. And this last bit was verified by Japanese citizens that were interviewed at the time.
