  1. Sorry, it should work now. URL was too long, and when abbreviated is took literally, short. Do you use Google Chrome? I do, and had the same trouble @ Enoc: My dad got some while she was being built, however, it is the other side of the country now.
  3. It does, indeed, have a recoil effect, not shaky, but once, just for thelike of it, i put two 5 inch naval cannons in the place of the Pontiac 20mm guns of an F-5. A few salvos and the aircraft flew backwards
  4. Our Navy just recieved a new toy...i don´t know what will they do with the STOVL carrier after that, but it is likely to remain in service along with the new LHD. Two more of those ships are to be build for the Australian Navy. Russians got interested, however, we are unlikely to go ahead with the russian in this one. L-61 Juan Carlos I
  5. RIP. Besides "Operation Pettycoat", "Espartacus" and "Some Like It Hot", there was a little known (at least in Spain) film named "Captain Newman, M.D." starring , along Tony Curtis (In a role quite simmilar to that of "Operation Pettycoat") Gregory Peck, Eddie Albert and Robert Duvall, quite touching if you ask me
  6. Curioso, los rusos tienen los mismos asientos ejectables y cabina que los F-15
  7. dreadful motherf..., oh, well, you know
  8. No se que decirte, se puede hacer, pero seria mejor que lo dejaras como esta
  9. However, you could try to fly on Korea during the DMZ war (1966-75 border clashes, i think)

Bueno, yo me estaba preparando por si tenia que ir a ver a la novia en un avion de Ryanair XD
  11. This girl is gonna ensure some really low flying once the terrain is out
  12. Now, i´m not an specialist, but i think that the aircraft LODs would be le least of the troubles (and still a significant trouble). It would also require to modify the cockpit LODs. It´s a shame as the six is simply the six. However, the times in wich i fly it the most are bound to the pre-SixShooter years. So far, i can only advise to do the same as probably the aircraft wouldn´t fare well in the 70s and the 80s due to its weaponry, andless likely to be deployed overseas.
  13. Personally, I agree with FastCargo. The last news about the budget cuts in the UK show a lack of future vision wich is taking the british armed forces to a status wich, if reached, will prevent the UK from having a proper defense for decades. One thing is that the UK should realize that it is no longer the power it was, and resize, assume a less ambitious role is the world, maybe. But there are news wich threaten to trash out the british armed forces to pathethic points. Why so much trouble with carriers? The crisis is hitting hard here in Spain and in Italy, but this doesn´t prevent us from keeping a fighter capable Air Arm. And the RAF being merged? All those talking about dismantling the armed forces into a COIN enforcement agency are mad. The conventional threat does not emerge because the western conventional forces would own their enemies. Keeping the war assymetrical may not guarantee a fast success, but will not be as bloody as a conventional one wich will happen as soon as the western armed forces loose their conventional capabilities
  14. I´m not much put into Manga/Anime. I don´t use to take that amount of fantasy, and sometimes (please forgive me) i feel like Manga was a way to produce art in massive numbers, a kind of foolproof procedure for drawers. Now this may be good so everyone can express through comics, but it´s not exactly my thing. However, there are a few animes wich i really enjoyed. Ghost in the Shell, Porco Rosso, Zipang, Planetes, SkyCrawlers. The fact is that Anime and Manga allow stories to be told, and that makes it great.
  15. Corrected. Now, i didn´t mean to take on a MOH recipient, just to point out an alternative that might have worked.
  16. I was just wondering, about the epic Doolittle Raid, and the idea came to my mind. Why didn´t they use a different way to bomb Tokyo? It was too complex, no one could guarantee that it was about to success. B-25s on a carrier, even today it´s hard to believe. So, why didn´t they just use Catalinas or Mariners? The PBY could have been dispatched by a seaplane tender, or have flown from land and refuelled from subs at meeting points. I know that sea conditions could have been an issue, but i see it far more simple than the actual plan. The PBYs could carry as much payload as a B-25, had a greater range, it wouldn´t have implied landing in a hostile area like China, etc. I see it would have been a good idea. So what do you think about it?
  17. Replace the Su-22s with F-16s and the MiG-29s with the EF2000s. That would make sense. Besides, i think that Poland should have this kind or air-superiority fighter. Just in case.
  18. It´s curious. Recently, the RN carriers sailed with detachments of USMC, Spanish and Italian AV-8B+ for fighters. I thought they would lease some from the USMC. I know i´m talking about a shorter term solution, but i still think that the RN plans to get CTOL or the multishare carrier with the Marine Nationale are kinda unorthodox.
  19. I was a 11 year old kid back then. I just had ended up my lunch and went playing PC (Fast Attack, a sub sim) when my parents called me to get to the kitchen. On the news there was an image of a burning building. My dad said "They said a Cessna crashed into one of the towers accidentally, Bulls**t, this looks like the holes in the decks of carrier after a kamikaze strike. That Cessna carried explosives" The camera was zooming into the fire, while the reporters were talking about palestinians doing it for the US support to Israel, or the possibility of an accident. The edge of a mushroom could appeared in the scren as we all, reporters included, scream "Holy s**t!!" (Translated loosely). While we saw it all we heard the casualty estimations "usually the WTC had 100.000 people working inside". The pentagon, the alert on the white house, the United 93... my dad started packing up things in the event his leave was revoked. As the islamist terrorism was pointed at, we agreed"If there were so many deads, probably tonight nukes will rain upon the middle east" Now everything seems to be part of historry, but back then it was such a shock. May the innocents rest in peace, and may God forgive their murderers, as we should not.
  20. 8 at least. Simplicity and meaning FTW. An elegant insignia and a quote, it´s quite enough.
  21. Glad to see a hero wasn´t paid with dead by destiny. Others died, like USN Lt Michael Murphy in ambushes, or stopping grenade sharpnel with ther bodies. It´s a fair, but not enough, reward that after such behaviour you can stay living. About the grenade thing, there are some others who did so. A Marine in Iwo Jima, 16 years old, survived his wounds and was awarded the Navy Cross. Lt Baldomero López, USMC, did something simmilar in the landing of Incheon. (López is the guy on the famous photo, from a LCI, the one on top of the ladder)
  22. I know it´s a bit, way off topic, but did you see the freak who assaulted the Discovery Channel building a days ago? How could an ecologist be pissed with it? Producing and broadcasting military related documentaries? Some people is nuts

O es un fake, o el piloto es Argentino. Malditos sean. 4-1, malditos sean.
  24. I heard an old spanish phantom pilot, that, in the event of stall-spin, the last choice before ejection was to deploy the tail chute to stabilize the aircraft. He didn´t say it was ever used this way, however.
