Ok Let's Start A Virtual "NATO"
Gepard replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
My questions: You need people only for the NATO? Or do you need someone for WP too? -
That the IP is from Argentina does not really proof, that it was an argentinian hacker attack. Some years ago i had had such an attack with my mailaccout and the first indication was that the attack came from the USA, but then it came out that it was a student from Israel who does not liked one of my articles in a german air magazine. s**t happens.

The AI is landing a AH-64A
Gepard replied to Gepard's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Seems to be so. The AI cant handle slow speeds with the previous FM. With my FM it can land without problems, but i cant hovering the Heli anymore. Lets see, how to solve this problem. -
What do you want to do there? Counting the sand?

Jaguar INI
Gepard replied to aircraft's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
which ini do you mean? data.ini loadaout.ini .....? -
All helicopters in the SF World have one major problem. The AI is unable to land the birds. While landing approach the helis starts to dance till they crash. Dels great AH-64 Apache was the reason for me to start a attempt to make a flightmodel for helicopters which the AI is able to handle also in landing approach and touchdown. After some failures i have now a FM what can do that. But it is only a beginning. The rotors are not yet rotating, there is no armament, no pilots etc. Its still a long way to go. some seconds before touchdown at Kunduz Air Base Afghanistan.

new graphic card and EAW will not work anymore
Gepard replied to Gepard's topic in EAW - General Discussions
After hundrets of attempts i got EAW to showing up. I made it with d3dwindower, but also without it. I got the mainscreen, was able to see the videos and the plane discriptions, the mission selection screen and the options screen, but when i tried to fly a mission i got CTD. -
Problems with WOE
Gepard replied to irati's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
WOV is a "downrated" Version of SFP1. You cant fly all types of missions from single mission screen. There are also differences in the objects list, so if you use WOV as basic game some objects will have no textures or Cockpits. Merging is a good idea for the second generation sims, but for first gen sims like WOE and WOV is a separate installation better. -
AH-64 Package for SF2 Ver 1.1
Gepard replied to Dels's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Its a cool bird. I used it in 1 Gen sim, a little bit ini work was needed, but else it run fine with WOI. The Apache has a nice feature, which i found out at my last mission over Afghanistan. The talibs surprised me with massive ground fire and had blown the main rotor away. But the Apache survived and has flow also without main rotor. Its cool man! -
Alle SF2 Flugzeuge funktionieren perfekt in WoI Operation Kadesh. Bei den anderen gibt es Probleme mit den LOD files, die nicht unterstützt werden.

The last combatplanes that was able to fly without computer support was the MiG-29. All other planes depends on computers, and so they are vulnerable to viruses. Shi* happens. And it was only a question of time that a virus attacks a military vehicle.

Was haltet Ihr von folgendem Flugzeug?

Whilst out roaming the tinterweb... F-20 Site
Gepard replied to Slartibartfast's topic in Military and General Aviation
Its an old, well known site. But a good one. Its made by Mark Wade, one of the Northrope F-20 team. -
"Tastes salty, must be british!" is long away, now the rule is "smells oily, must be american!", and hopefully not tomorrow "Looks yellow, must be chinese!"

but not enough of them. We (Germany) stand there with much to less troops, with doubtfull rules of engagement, with to less and wrong equipment ..... The old Clausewitz wrote: "Make war in correct way or let it be." And so we stand there in AFG it is a "let it be." Unfortunatly.

MiG-17 Gunsight
Gepard replied to jjddoo's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The MiG-15 and MiG-17 had two gunsight symbols. One was used for dogfight (Kreiselvisier, sorry dont knwo the corrct english term, perhaps gyro targeting device) and the other was used for ground attacks. It was possible to show both symbols at the same time. The dogfight symbol was able to move, while the ground attack symbol was fix. The story of the US star shaped gunsight in soviet planes is a nice cold war story, but it is wrong. In the MiG-15 and 17 gunsights they used the german technology from WW2 which they captured in 1945. Correct is, that the radar range finder of the Sabre was the basic for the soviet radar range finders which were used in the MiG-17F, MiG-19S and MiG-21F.
