If i understand the vietnamese behavior correct (after the victory 1975)so their pilots loved the Tiger more than the MiG. The cockpit was not as small, you had a better view and the Tiger was a nice pilots plane. In contrary the MiG-21bis climed faster and accelerates better. What means that the MiG-21bis pilot had to choose the combat in the vertical while the Tiger pilot should go horizional. If i'm correct.

Found a video on YouTube about the soviet tests with a captured south vietnamese F-5E Tiger. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGmBdqxrwbw Unfortunatly only at russian language. Does someone know something about the result of this test?

Suez2 terrain or Israel2 terrain i made for SFP1. It covers the near east from Syria in the north, across Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, to Egypt in the south, also the area of Palestine where british and german planes fought in 1917/18. It would need a heavy mod to include the WW1 style ground objects but it should run in FE.
-
What do you mean with Turkish Front? The Dardanelles or Palestina? For Palestina a mod of the existing Suez or Israel terrains for SFP1 would be possible.

The campaign " 985 Belgium Break" withj UK and Belgium against France and Netherlands runs fine so far. Contains Mirage III, V, F-1, 2000, Sea Harriers, Harriers, Phantoms, Tornaod GR.1 and F.3, belgian and dutch F-16As, NF-5A, british and french Jaguars. Perhaps i should include the Super Etendard and perhaps i should include Danmark with Drakens and F-16A. Only problem i have to ask Mirage Factory wheter they give me the permission for using their Jagaur GR for my Jaguar A mod.

Today Northrop and EADS spokesmen declared that their companies will not longer take part at the competition for the next USAF tanker. European and especially german politicans found harsh words against Boing and the Pentagon. I dont know why the european politicians are crying, especially the german ones. Okay. The american politicians have cheaten. Its true. Okay, the USAF will get only the second best tanker plane it could have. Its true. But the pentagon had a good reason for acting so. And this reason is money. All words of free trade, of free competition etc. pp. are empty phrases if the only target is maximum profit for a big company. No need to cry. You can read it in the books of Karl Marx. Thats typical capitalism. Dont worry about it. For me its a deja vu. Around 20 years ago the german Luftwaffe scrapped the east german stand off missile capable Su-22M4 fighterbomber fleet to favor the dumb iron dropper west german Tornados. They scrapped the highly capable east german Mi-24 fleet to favor the medieval west german UH-1Ds. They favored the west german Heckler&Koch with their outdated and unreliable assault rifels against the east german WIGER company which had a NATO caliber Kalashnikov in production. ... etc etc etc. No need to cry. Thats capitalism. Not the best weapon will reach the troops. It is like it is.

Black Sea Floggers?

If i remembered right Russia phased out the single engine military jets very fast in the 90th. So no russian MiG-21 and MiG-23 and Su-17 for such a scenario. With the ukrainians i'm not sure. -
To say it simple: all piston engine planes can easily outcurve all jets of the 60th 70th era. This Yak-9 was able to outcurve the F-86 and the Mustang was able to do the same with a MiG-15. This is simple aerodynamics. If a jet pilot is so stupid to fight a curve combat against a A-1 Skyraider he will loose. If he use the hit and run tactic, tha climb and dive he will win. Unfortunatly the game engine does not realise this simple fact. So the MiG-21 will try to curve out a probplane. And the F-4 will do the same with the same result. And a last word. The air to air missiles model is to simple. All AAM have in real life a minimum launch speed. For the R-3S (AA-2) and the AIM-9B it is if i remember right about 750 kilometers per hour at low levels. It climbes up to over 1.100 kph at high altitudes. What means, that not all planes in game who carries Sidewinders or Atoll would have had in real life to used this weapon successfully.

Interessting are the new russian insignias. The white, blue and red star. The AN-72 / 74 are very effective STOL transport planes. Need a very short runway and are fitted for rough conditions. If i remember right they were part of the soviet polar fleet. Made a good job with landing on ice air strips etc. As maritime patrol plane it can do the job as surveillance bird to protect the economic 200nm zone.

Too Many Israeli F-15's?
Gepard replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I cant have to much Eagles in the Sky. It are nice preys for a MiG or a Mirage2000 and a very challenging too. -
The problem with offensive operations in anti guerilla warfare is that the enemy will retreat and hide. And if the troops are gone away the enemy will crawl out of his holes. I have read an interessting article about the soviet Afghanistan war. One high ranking soviet officer told: "I think there was no square meter of afghan soil who as not stepped by soviet boots. But if the boots were gone away the enemy came back very fast."

Sukhoi T-50 PAK FA - first flight!

Stealth is not bad. And the passive american stealth sounds good. But it can be beaten as the Serbs showed when they downed a F-117 with outdated SAM systems. -
There are 3 military colors. Blue, Red, Yellow. Yellow is neutral. Blue is by NATO terms friendly, but was in WP terms enemy. Red vice versa. Bad guys and good guys. This are terms for kindergarden or the yellow press. If you ask on both sides of the frontline you will always hear "We are the good guys and the others are the bad guys." Its a question of the point of view. Better are the terms "opponent" and "enemy". But there are differences. Opponent is the guy of the other side. Who is not responsible that he is born in a different contry. There is no need to hate. In case of war the opponent becomes an enemy. The enemy wants to kill, thatswhy hate is neccessary and helpfull to overcome. When i was walking the borderline 21 years ago the westgerman or british or american soldier on the other side were an opponent. No need to hate. Its like a football game, without opponent you cant play the game. It became different in some occassions when the guys of the other side directed their weapons on me. This happend a couple of times. I looked in the barrel of a M-1 tank, saw Bundesgrenzschutz (BGS) guys aiming on me with their HK MP5. This persons were enemies. Different were british soldiers i have spoken at the line. No weapon rattle, no bad arguments, no showing of bad signs. This were opponents and an opponent can be a friend too, an enemy never.

Friend or foe?

Friendly fire accidents forced the USAF and USN to request optical identification of the target. So the Sparrow was nearly useless. -
View File F-16B Blk 5 Netz Heyl Ha Avir (IAF) for WOI F-16B Netz Blk 5 for WOI Heyl Ha Avir (Israeli Air Force) ------------------------------------------------- I. This mod is written for WOI -------------------------------------------------------------- II. The Heyl Ha Avir was the first Air Force who used the F-16B double seater in majority not as training aircraft, but as strike plane. The israeli name of this bird is Netz what means Falcon. --------------------------------------------------------------- III. Credits: I used the F-16B_Netz.lod of TeamViper (USAFMTL, Swede,Wpnsgt etc.), added TK's original Flightmodel of the F-16A and modded it to fit the F-16B Netz data. The F-16B Netz now handles very well, take of speed at apporx 300 kph, landing speed approx 280 kph, 360° curve at 1000 meters with start speed 800 kph in 20 seconds. Differences to the original model are also, that i made the nose gear stearing and the Chaff and Flares are shooting now upward. etc pp... Unfortunatly i was unable to make the ailerons moving. I tried it and it worked well, but the flaps started sometimes to flicker. Thatswhy i removed the working ailerons again. I implemented TK's original cockpit and avionics and modded it a little bit so that the Radar screen now shows the naming of the different modes (not more 3 times AIR, but RWS,TWS,ACM,LOCK). All this parts i put together to have a israeli F-16B Netz. To say it clearly. I made only the finish. The credit of 99% of this bird belongs to team Viper and TK. The other 1% is mine. ---------------------------------------------------------------- IV. INSTALLATION 1.unzip all files into your Aircraft folder Thats it. -------------------------------------------------------------- V. THIS MOD IS FREEWARE. COMMERCIAL USE IS NOT ALLOWED! --------------------------------------------------------------- Hope you enjoy it.
