OEF 2013-2014 Mission Pack
daddyairplanes replied to Viggen's topic in Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
person on the alarm must have just as as sleepy as back then. course i had the fun of going to the Brit dfac same time as one landed a block from my company. the alarm didn't go off until 45 minutes after impact, while me and my joes were still in the brits ao. ask them whats up and they say "f ck if i know mate" and keeps walking. had to deal with a highly pissed 1SG when we got back to our mods. in our defense we really didn't hear it go off...... point 1 that is why i had a roshan phone for most of 2009.. point 2 make any game that detailed and holy shite!!!!! -
starting in the late 70s Lockheed and the USAF rebuilt 270 C-141A Starlifters to correct the issue of the aircraft bulking out on cargo before they reached max take off weight...............

my big folder of pics is at home, will send it to you tonight. as i have been able to tell, the white came out around 78-79. the Marines were generally the last to update schemes, but Navy worked to reduce visual signature. around 1980, a low viz grey scheme came out and then the TPS in 81-82, though only two squadrons flew the J in that. yes most pics are from the nam era. wait till you get this folder. broken down by unit, most labeled by year. gathered over the course of a years worth of google image hunting

-
Gimme a day or so. Have notes but in a snb note file on my tablet. As you skin only two units that used TPS, and most were in the ovrrall gull gray scheme of the late 70s
-
Maybe maybe not. Definately not in that scheme initially, and one of the missions of Canada CF-5 force was strategic reserve for Norways NF-5 fleet. But stans to reason if fighter command took a beating the agressor force could have been sent to replenish. That or more F-4Js from the boneyard....
-
what you didn't go with the most obvious unit for this?
-
nice. however if your aim is post 1974, you need the DECM antenea on the intakes. found more commonly in photos on the S, that probably is because most J photos that get attn are Vietnam era shots. but the J continued to fly with the Navy until around 82(VF74 and -103 phinal users) and Marines for two years past that (IIRC VMFA-115, did a Forrestal dep in 83 while another squadron was converting to Toms) might also want to talk to Sundowner, i know he has one and i was working a skin pack (Similar to my F-4N pack) for it but thats not even on a burner right this second
-
so there i was, mindin my own and checking progress on some skins and the @$$holes go and show up...........
-
ok cool as i have 5 other projects for years end, plus waiting on Dels new Herc. lemme know if you want me to tag back in

ok google and airliner.net photo searches indicate this wont be too bad a beast to mark up other than a couple hundred serials. wing squadron and flight commanders appear to be indicated by stripes like they did back then, so those tie to the serials. black around cockpit should be on skin and just the SAC and unit sashes on the nose. now a few questions @anyone: most of what i see indicates wing markings rather than squadron marking like whats going on with the Lockheed heavy haulers. shall assume to add those to the squadronlist. ini as such? @Dave could use anything reference you got on digits. will use joe baughers site for serials but need to know who flew waht and white anti flash or no and when @Veltro: would you consider at least one RB version? despite the fun of nuking things, for the realism nuts THAT would be cool as they were the ones that actually saw combat IRL

soo i was running quick test flight before bed to get screenies of what to fix tomm. got a glimpse of why i took up the method of doing heavies that i took up now we just need a proper airport to park these colorful birds at......

big part of why i dont volunteer right now for skins. all nat metal, the Starlifter turned out the best. of course the DC-10 has been a devil skin since i started working with it as a KC-10, but the 767 is a one tile skin too and it didnt turn out bad. just not shiny. but you've seen what i can do with tga everything but the white on the skin my friends so stickers is my strong point back on topic, willing to decal this puppy up at the least. if some interested party has a good reference on units it would help but i am handy enough with a search engine if need be.
