whew. the wait continues. tho i do have access i have my own negative opinion reached by my own experiences. there are a few items there (part propeller Red Air) that cant be found here but used in my mods as AI targets. anyone does a new seperate IL-10, -2, Pe2 and or ealier Meteors and NF Meteors please let me know. they are better for populating 1948-1959 than an overabundance of Spitfire LFIXe.

ok SEA Wrap no black stripe tho the ends of rwr fairing are black(front and back tip) Euro1 there is either a black stripe and fairing or the light catches it in a really wierd way throughout the book.didnt look in the book last night cause of back and forth to ER, caught you on a waitin period. lookin in C& M Vol 4, colors and marking's of the F-4D post vietnam, bert kinzey. 89th TFS is the featured squadron for that book so about 6 pages dedicated to it rather than 2 -4. if i can get my wife to get healthy enough to tell me how to work the scanner feature on the printer i'll shoot some photos over this weekend. might be lil late for this production but i told ya there was a wicked wing king bird in that squadron as well all that USAFE before century series book i've been yappin bout. good stuff in that for KAW birds after release (howabout F-80 and F-86 Skyblazers?!?!?) oh and 32nd TFS was one of them assigned attached squadrons to 36th TFW until the late 80's when they became their own Group. i hafta look up the exact why but the CR both fit in the individual squadron coding of the immediate time created and reflects the fact that the squadron was under the operational control of the Dutch (hence the Crown). the stripe was orange although gained green pinstripestop and bottom towards the end of the Phantom years and endured thru the Eagle era to disbandment. these were the colors of the Dutch royalty, The House of Orange.

what software do you need to view/work with dds? noticed it first in ravenclaw's Recce Phantoms but cant view dds with gimp or anything in windows. liked how such a detailed skin didnt kill framerates totally though.

JediMaster whatcha think they are gonna do? actually treat the ones who work decent? sparkomatic i think everyone but the Marines is gonna be that way. one of the things i told my soldiers before i left active service was to make sure their sh!t was straight cause with the wars winding down(full opinion on that a matter for another topic) the army would downsize and re-up would not be something they try to get you to do, it will become a privelege to fight for. the Army is already going back to enforcing standards(hieght wieght criminal record!) that were absolute gospel in the clinton years. my joes chuckled and said yea ok. one told me beginning of the year there was no more reup bonuses, just sign for the needs of the army for anyone not on first term of enlistment................................................. only reason I say the Marines wont go that way is they all ways have high turn over, gotta keep young blood in to do what they do.

just want to make sure it aint the one that screenies been posted of on here in desert pink. that would suck. big time.

per the photos checkerboards a lil low and there should be a black stripe along the very top of the fin and the rwr fairing(about half the distance from top to your curretn top of checkerboard. can shoot a scan of the photos but prob not sooner than this weekend if my wife can stay outta the hospital. my decal is wrongish too but i'm focusing on the active duty squadrons first then tightening up the AFRES and ANG. finally if ya putting it on there as a skin the squadron CO's bird had a slanted chekerboard on fuselage with sqn in the center. the fin checkerboard should run into tho not onto the rwr fairing. but at least wait til ya put that on Hill 2. with the colors that looked sharp!

you guys know anything bout the RN only release for the Bucc at "that other site"?
-
hmmph. not fussin you but still alot more damage done by a ballistic round (dont think 23mm blows up just blow thru) than a 3 kg warhead (or 3) detonated and flinging light shrapnel within proximity. screw the golden BB, you were shot by the golden haji!!!!
-
what freakin MANPAD did that to a Hog!?!?!?!?!?! i've seen rebuilt ones at Pope on open houses that were billed as having been hit with 23mm and bigger dozens of times in one sortie and makin it home. i believe Fayetteville Observer did an article because one of the pilots to suffer such damage over Bagdad was a female. and a MANPAD has less destructive force than say 50 hits by 23 and 57mm AAA. hmmmph. gotta talk to TK bout the shoulder mounted SA-18s:grin:

saw some D models several times when my dad was stationed in DC. big hulking noisy beasts, i miss em!

Quesstion to the gimp users
daddyairplanes replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Mods & Skinning Discussion
hmm might actually hafta d/l a turorial from the site. i can play with existing decals and change em into new all day long. but importing images and creating new is new ground for me but neccesary if i wanna decal the likes of the Happy Hooligans of the units in Texas with the Texas flag as a fin stripe. for us with lower end systems it is better to have a skin with a small skin folder and a large decal folder as that takes up less space than many skins for each squadron. back to the books....... -
still trying to make decals that work on Phantom intakes w/o blanking that bitmap. i have realized that the images in the tga do not have the gray checkered background that most decal tgas have. also all the files i am trying to use as decals are listed im Gimp as tga 1.0 whil my decals that do work are tga 2.0. before anyone says it is too many decals per mesh i tried using a stock national insignia and it shows just fine (though why the game choose Spain is beyond me) so i think it has to be somethin about that gray checkered background or the 1.0 vs 2.0. tia for your help! (like i said, a decal CAN go there my tga files aren't working though.

shoulda been titled USAFE Pack 1! looks good, thanks Dave and Sundowner

no worries. like he said in Flight of the Phoenix, you do alot of reading sitting in the pax shed waiting on a 130. oh wait thats my version of the line!

like Ferris on meth!

brit Phantoms had it replaced by a periscope for the RIO. dont recall them being dual control like USAF models though
-
yes this was discussed in Black Aces High with the nuggets in the Bombcat doing the exact same (1 circle into 2 circle) tactic to score on a F-4F with a 2500 hr veteran pilot! figured Ceasar might like that bit of info if he hasnt read the book already!
-
yes sir pretty much for all Post nam USAF Phantoms. Navy tended to carry internally esp with late model birds (late Nam to the 80s) and brits for some reason i have never seen a photo of them carrying ECM! still i originally found out about it from your mod so i personally credit you fer me discovery. its not exactly the same but works same principal. btw GROPE ID's!?!??!?! thought those led to arrests @ dave nice Euro1! funny how being far from HQ they didnt give a !@# and had full color sharks maouths as opposed to 52d TFW!
-
btw i likes my Phantoms!
-
lemme see i redid all Phantom data inis (minus the brits, story for nother day) to show Sparrow station 1 as station group 5 and all the other three as group 4. Sparrow 1 also can fit LP and EP, to accomdate ECM and Pave Spike. got the idea from wrench tho its not exact on his EF-4C. course all my Phantoms minus any _78's and later have Spill104's smokier J79 mod included as well. Phantoms got "smokeless" engines round the 80's so i leave it as the stock dirtyexhaust emitter for the late model birds. finally if you add the A-10 loadout mod that allows 4 Mavericks as opposed to 6 or 2, it adds a bit o realism since only 4 were carried due to drag concerns usually. and i learned how to do all this only since Gen 2 came out! gen 1 i could barely run plug and play mods
