  1. Yes flying at full throttle is not fuel efficient for sure, and also make sure you lean the engine. Also these crates weren't designed to fly at "warp" speed ;) Warp is quite bad at fuel usage so stop and check often if you use warp. Feel free to point out to your commander that the mission could be too far for your fuel load and try an alternative target ;)
  2. You should always be aiming for the front, and for that you require to be above the enemy, or deflection 10 degrees or so. Dead astern you will miss the wings an awful lot given you are mostly edge on.
  3. Hi Krasny Hopefully when you have played some more over the years you won't think it's such a bad price :) 1. Change your desktop Aspect to Widescreen setting in "workshop" button (go in there look far left). change to 16:10 If still a problem then make sure your desktop DPI is 120 or 96. Go to your desktop and right click on it somewhere empty, select Display Properties. Click Advanced. Change the DPI settings from whatever it is to 120 or 96. Try OFF again. It may need a reboot first. 2. They are there, they start above your field when you take off. Turn labels on, or use the tactical awareness (shift T) to see other aircraft (pres T once to just show aircraft).
  4. Aces can only die on the day they really did, otherwise it wouldn't be historic - all the historical data would then be out of whack ;) But as they guys say you can down them, but they will escape to come back and fight until their day is come..
  5. Thanks for the help for Beerthirty, maybe this will move go to the knowledge base when Beerthirty has read it.
  6. Also important to check for sound card driver updates. It may be from your motherboard maker's website (oh and do not pay for drivers from a website they should be free).
  7. Sure they actually have trim in many of the FMs as many people prefer not to cope with the bad traits, so it's there for that reason, but realistically using it in combat will give you an unfair advantage and is not realistic.
  8. Great story from a great Dad there UK, you must be very proud. Thanks for the story and for your dad's bravery.
  9. Just look around you on take off, depending on what craft/squad if an Ace flight is there with your flight, Aces will usually have their own individual skin? Also others you meet will too as long as the skin is available for that Ace, in that particular craft, in that squad, for that date ;) (i.e. one Ace may need loads to cover his whole career). The problem as OvS says is that you cannot have a player's flight using different models. All will fly the same model in the flight. In OFF's case that is a model assigned called xxxxxx_Sqd. Or in QC, xxxxxx_QC1 craft. That's the only problem really. In CFS3 1 model can have only 1 skin. However you can make "variants" or copies of the model with different names. So part of the special work OFF Manager does is have multiple models and then dynamically assign those to Aces or to other flights whatever. Then it works out based on the Ace, date, model, squad etc which skin to apply. Other flights can have different models to the player, plus also mixed models, so Ac1 Ac2 Ac3... , Sq1 Sq2... etc. So the correctr skin is swapped in before mission starts for each craft, squad, appropriate to the date/squad/craft whatever.
  10. Vast majority had no in flight trim. Some could be adjusted on the ground some, or rigged differently.
  11. It's not available in the shops Carlos_Tex, as per our wesbite, only available on there. Try clicking the big Easter Special Offer picture down below here ;)
  12. If it works in CFS3 then it should work in OFF though. Maybe do a "game update"
  13. No worries I didn't take it that way :) glad you are enjoying HB
  14. V1.3 has an option that will make the manager fit to 1 screen at least (sim will be 3 still). It's not ready yet though so can't say when it's available. Update for anyone reading this.. 1.30 is out now of course.
  15. We are looking into this at the moment for some craft when flown by Aces. Try versus Random, or veteran AI for the moment. Also Campaign will give you more situations for combat so try that too.
  16. never heard that one DezfulD. Maybe you need to set up using the regional settings for non English OS. FAQ http://www.overflandersfields.com/FAQ.htm http://www.overflandersfields.com/FAQ.htm#...Unicode_program Also as you are in Vista make sure you are a full admin, maybe sometimes it cant write to your user folder. Try setting the OFF manager to run in XP compatibility mode.
  17. British_eh you do not have the patch installed correctly it sounds like. With 1.26+ craft are pretty damn easy to down and more than likely spin, or lose a wing so if you don't see it, then something is screwed as per FB. old Cfs3.exe, patch not installed, or a bad shot maybe ;) If you have two installs or some kind of custom set then a patch may not work as it may not find the right folder. FB, what does he manager version show as in workshop? Go to the aircraft folder and find an .xdp file from one of the xxxxxxQC1 folders and send it I'll check it's a 1.26+ one Also zip up your cfs3.exe and send that too. Tests where in QC and in campaign both the same. try 2 gun craft against a few various, Camel, Alb, Dr1, hannover etc etc Why not try one of the turkey shoot missions in Missions and see if you can hit - aim for nose area/wings try .
  18. Hi FB if you don't mind I'll add your comments on that to the FAQ too.
  19. We have been looking into it but not found a way to disable the turbulence so far.
  20. That's one craft the guys would spend time getting right - I'll let them comment ;)
  21. Yeah FB yeah very odd indeed I can't work that out sorry, only thing I can think off is that you miss a lot ;) or that an old 3.0 exe would cause the 50 yard bug where no damage would occur... We tested all on default, and 1.26 wings come off often. I am sure others here can say if they see wings come off since 1.26 with normal. The hard core dm, will make wings /wing tips etc stronger but NOT quite as strong as they used to be. As to the gun strength.. the default, normal, is slightly stronger than the old default used to be - that's it. However you are of course shooting at weakened craft. Hard is weaker bullets. Easy is stronger bullets. That's it, as everyone's experience seems to vary it's pointless putting "values" on them, just try, and see what each person prefers and go with it.
  22. FB to correct that - the 1.26 patch affected wings coming off etc, if you do not see that with the normal DM after 1.26 then soemthing is screwy there as it's very common to see wings come off, and you will see damage earlier to wings, and slightly earlier elsewhere.
  23. It needs new code to land WW1 craft perfectly, which is not in there at the moment. They will generally not land well so apart from fun, end the mission earlier and avoid the mess. We are looking into what is possible.
  24. The odds will ebb and flow as battles and dates change, directives of the squadrons and battle requirements. This is built in to OFF However listen to the voices of the pilots in the credits. You'll hear one there (Cecil Lewis?) recount how they were often outnumbered 2 or 3 to 1. The Germans usually formed up into larger formations and attacked in numbers. So as an allied you may not see an enemy for some flights then be swamped 3 to 1.
  25. Aye as per the download page 1. Hard Core Damage Model patch (OPTIONAL) Makes all aircraft tougher to kill (i.e. including your craft and all AI) 2. Normal Damage Model patch (OPTIONAL) Use this to revert from Hardcore back to Normal and vice versa.. whatever you run, is what you well use in sim...
