  1. Nearly got me - took a few watches to see how fake it was!
  2. Its coming along nicely Recent satellite imagery showed Tehran is building a fake U.S. aircraft. New photographs prove that Iran’s Nimitz class mock flattop hosts several (fake) planes, including some CAG birds and a Jolly Rogers F/A-18 Hornet. Iran is not only working on a mock American aircraft carrier. New images posted on Facebook show that the USS Nimitz class ship being assembled in an Iranian shipyard on the Persian Gulf most probably for propaganda purposes (do you remember the F-313 Qaher stealth jet?) or as a movie prop, now features also some embarked planes. Noteworthy, along with some F-5 Tiger aircraft (serving with the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force but not existing in a carrier-variant) parked on the flight deck of the fake Iranian carrier there are also some fake F/A-18 Hornets. One of the two in special color scheme sports the unique livery and markings of the legendary VFA-103 “Jolly Rogers”. The Jolly Rogers are one of the most famous squadron in U.S. Navy. They currently fly the F/A-18F Super Hornet adorned with Ensign Jack Ernie’s skull-and-crossbones on all-black tails, their symbol and probably the most recognizable one in Naval Aviation (to such an extent you can find it in Disney’s “Planes” cartoon). The reason for using CAG (Carrier Air Group) planes in special colors makes Iran’s mysterious aircraft carrier’s flight deck slightly more realistic but the question remains: why did Tehran spend so much money to build such a huge model? As mentioned before, it might be a prop for an upcoming movie (about an Iranian airliner shot down by a U.S. cruiser in 1988) as reported by some media outlets; still, considering the effort in building the mock up it is also possible that the ship will serve for more military purposes: for instance testing new technologies and/or training warplanes to attack a U.S. flattop in the Persian Gulf exploiting its vulnerabilities. In either cases, just a waste of money… from http://theaviationist.com/2014/04/02/iran-fake-aircraft-carrier/
  3. Well anyone who keeps the Cold War flying is okay by me The Polish Ministry of National Defense has eventually decided that the Polish Air Force Su-22 Fitters will remain active for at least 10 more years. The Cold War era fighter bomber has been in service in the Polish Air Force for nearly 30 years now. As reported earlier this year, Poland was considering to get rid of its fleet of Su-22 attack planes, possibly replacing them with UCAVs (unmanned combat air vehicles). eighteen of the Fitterss in best shape are to remain active, including 12 Su-22M4 single seaters and 6 UM3K trainers. The Military Aviation Works no. 2 in Bydgoszcz is going to refurbish the aircraft’s equipment. It is the same facility that takes care of the more modern Polish F-16s. The main aim of the refurbishment is to make the old fighter-bombers more interoperable with other NATO aircraft. Additionally the Su-22 engines are going to be refurbished by Military Aviation Works No. 4. This facility is located in Warsaw. The Su-22s are going to be used then in accordance with their technical status. The planned modifications are quite interesting, even though the scope of works is not so wide. According to dziennikzbrojny.pl website the changes would include installation of an ICAO and Eurocontrol compliant communications suite (8, 33 kHz channel spacing). There are also rumors that the Polish Fitters are to get new instruments, scaled in the imperial units. This would also make cooperation with the NATO aircraft easier for the pilots. When it comes to application of the old fighter-bombers, they will be an important asset within the special forces and anti-aircraft gunners training programs, taking over the duties already done by the Polish F-16. from http://theaviationist.com/2014/04/03/su-22-to-be-upgraded/
  4. Happy birthday sir - enjoy the day!
  5. How did I miss this! http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-news-from-elsewhere-26882664 Ukrainian authorities have rejected a bid from a man calling himself Darth Vader, who wants to run in the presidential elections.
  6. Yes SF2NA changed the game quite a bit regarding campaigns - so will have extra lines of code you can use - some of it you wont need to use - but check another 3rd party SF2NA campaign to be certain. Obviously if you try it with the SF2V exe and it works then you will know for sure - the stock campaigns have a lot of the new code missing. Your best bet is just to get one jet to appear first before changing loads of things at the same time - did you have a look at the LBIII campaign because that would be the closest to what you are after?. Have you also seen the info in here http://combatace.com/forum/268-thirdwire-strike-fighters-2-series-knowledge-base/
  7. The auxillary landing fleet has to survive to land your troops. If you are flying the F-14 then are you intercepting and stopping the bombers from launching?
  8. Yes but haven't played it in a while If you are an A-7 then the Badgers might still be taking out your landing fleet - you depend on the AI F-14s to some extent.
  9. What patch did you move from to? Have you tried tweaking graphics card settings? Are you using newer ATi drivers? Can you post dxdiag.exe output?
  10. Did you actually make a copy of the StrikeFighters2 NorthAtlantic.exe file and the renamed copy when run created a new folder called StrikeFighters ONS? Have you got any enemy planes in service in the years you are selecting? The F-14 loadouts are defined in the F-14n_loadout.ini - they can be specified per year if required. You might need to change the single mission start and end years in options.ini if you are testing using single missions
  11. New Autopilot now being implemented
  12. Yeah the T-38 was from the same program - the single seat version was already there - they just developed the A/B a bit further before getting the MAP contracts - a few subtle differences. F-16 was the low cost counter to the F-15 according to the Fighter Mafia
  13. So you wiped Win 7 and put a new install of Win 8.1 on yes? Did you install the latest Direct X package? http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3 Win7/8 don't come with DX9 on them
  14. Any mods added?
  15. 1 & 2 Yes you can do a ground war - you need to define nodes that each enemy/friendly ground forces advances or retreats to - you should see an example at the bottom of a _campain.ini. The amount of nodes/paths you can have isn't much so don't go too wild. 3 Yes you can add more forces 4. The campaign will run on until strategic ground objective is reached - or max missions has occurred for example.
  16. Sorry Irans is not included
  17. Hmm - which campaign is this - only used the dates myself. Does the first player mission start at a random time after the start time of the campaign? Or can the aircraft you are using fly at night (as per jets data.ini) ?
  18. Yes you can manually edit the campaign.ini and campaign_Data.ini - and the alternative line is one option.
  19. Really sorry Dave - my condolences to you and the family. I hope he has found peace now.
  20. Too right - the MiG-23/27 in the first post looks like its just fired some Rockets!
  21. There was a way to refuel in SF1 (YAP2 uses it) - although needed individual aircraft edits - but a I believe that loop was closed in SF2 at some point. As for expendables nope.
  22. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3LdYDyE_1c
  23. Maybe - sounds like the sort of stuff you find on Ministry of Sound chilled dance music compilations.
