  2. Okay - upgraded F-16 unveiled Lockheed Martin announces new F-16V at Singapore Air Show Lockheed Martin unveiled a new version of the F-16, which will include an active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar, upgraded mission computer and improvements to the cockpit. The "V" designation is derived from Viper, the name fighter pilots have called the F-16 from its beginnings. During a presentation at the Singapore Airshow, George Standridge, vice-president of business development at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics noted that most legacy F-16s can be upgraded to the F-16V standard, which is roughly equivalent to the F-16 block 60. With nearly 4,500 F-16s delivered, this is a natural step in the evolution of the world’s most successful 4th generation fighter. The Fighting Falcon program has continually evolved as it began with the F-16 A/B as the lightweight fighter then transitioned to F-16 C/D and Block 60 versions as customers’ requirements changed. AESA radars offer significant operational capability improvements. Lockheed Martin has developed an innovative solution to affordably retrofit this key technology into existing F-16s. The F-16V configuration is an option for new production jets and elements of the upgrade are available to most earlier-model F-16s. The F-16V is intended to satisfy customers' emerging needs and prepare them to better interoperate with fifth generation fighters such as the F-35 and F-22. As for V upgrades, Standridge mentioned South Korea's requirement to upgrade F-16s and the U.S. Air Force's interest in upgrading 300-350 F-16s. from http://www.f-16.net/news_article4521.html

  4. Is the folder you put the files in called Terrains and not Terrain?
  5. Where did you save them? Unlike the first series of games - all Mods in SF2 must go in the special Mod folders – which will be in a totally different location on your PC to where the game is actually installed!! On Xp they will be here (By default) C:\Documents and Settings\<Name>\My Documents\ThirdWire\ On Vista / Seven: C:\Users\<Name>\Saved Games\ThirdWire\
  6. The radar remedial project was a conflicting program that seems to have got priority over Pave Gat at a certain point in the testing - this delayed the Pave Gat program which didnt finish being tested until July 1971 - and it seems they wanted to use it but Air Force systems command moans about the cost, TAC moans about the weather in SEA at the time, and some other high up brass indicate that 90 days testing was not enough. the test results are stated as demonstrating that with 4000 rounds the B-57G could hit 20 targets - 3 times as many as the bomb loaded version. Not only that could avoid AAA better by firing at an offset. This is information from a declassified 1978 report (photocopy) on the entire Tropic Moon III project
  7. Pave Gat was the name for this project as part of Tropic Moon II - in about 1967 they trialed the AN/AXQ-5 system that consisted of a sensor slewed 20mm gatling gun in he bomb bay of the B-57G. The system actually worked pretty well - but was never used in combat - due to possibly a conflict between that project and a radar remedial program - and later cost overruns are stated. In combat over SEA the B-57G only carried bombs (Internal guns also removed).
  8. I would say their stats do affect their performance - in campaigns I take rookies out on easy missions to bump their stats up - but the high skilled ones do seem better - just difficult to anaylse whats really happening. The game normally chooses the best wingmen by stats by default
  9. This truly is looking great - already well beyond expectations!
  10. Nice - its been around a while - for those that can afford 3 monitors Saw a vid of somebody running DCS A-10C on one of these linked to 3 x 1080p projectors! - which gives out a massive display - only problem with projectors is the cost of the bulbs, the noise they make and the heat they give out!
  11. Brilliant - great collection of classic Aircraft
  12. One of the reasons I hand pick which weapons I want in the game to keep the number down - because going through a large drop down list for each Jet is a nightmare.
  13. The ones I posted above are just skins though. I was just making you aware that that mod in your link has old ini files in it like the F-16_Data.ini etc that might have been changed over the past year by later patches.
  14. Right if you have a merged install the F-16A Netz will already be in all of the games. to test this - if you open up SF2E and do a single mission you should be able to select it from the Aircraft list and play a mission - can you do that? If you can then it shows everything is ok. Although flyable in a single mission - by default the F-16 will not be in any campaigns - therefore you need to add it to a campaign manually - or using the campaign customiser. You will of course always have the default camo skin only - so you can drop in the add on skins from the link above. You can also create a separate F-16 if you like - fairly easy to do manually - or you could try the link from Malibu for this also - but the ini files in that mod are already out of date.........anyway

  18. What patch level of Strike Fighters 2 are you running? - latest is Nov 2011 Just because Windows 7 is okay and other apps run fine does not mean your Graphics drivers are up to date - do you know what card you have? click on the start button , type dxdiag.exe in the search programs and files box, let the program start and run then save the output to your desktop using the Save all information button , open the file you saved with notepad then copy + Paste the output here.
  19. 1 - WOE and WOV could be merged - but its only those 2 that can be merged in the SF1 series. You dont have SF2 by mistake (you would know because the SF2 Games are very different now) 2. No - The very last patches (2008) for these old games fixed a few things so they will work with Vista/7 3. Yes a lot of the cat files from WOE did contain files from WOV - and yes you could use them with the right tweaks - cant remember though whether you could use the carriers - think you should be able to. As to how they differ internally pass - there are a few differences - the Knowledgebase or old thread might help there. For a separate mod install in SF1 make a copy of one of the games entire folder and file structure - then rename the exe file in the copy and use that. 4. anything here: http://combatace.com/forum/247-thirdwire-prop-heads/ http://combatace.com/forum/288-thirdwire-prop-heads-sf2/
  20. Happy Birthday
  21. Happy Birthday Grrr
  22.  Judging by that article which even quotes Carlo ***p as a source - I'm just impressed they managed to put a photo of an F-35 on there - tbh not sure they would recognize the difference between the F-35 and the Space Shuttle! Well better scrap the F-16s as well then quickly!
