  2. Huh - never delete any core game files ever - you only need to rename the file.
  3. Blind pilot guided to land by RAF A pilot who suddenly went blind while flying his plane at 15,000ft (4,572m) was guided in to land by an RAF plane. A plane was scrambled from the RAF base at Linton-on-Ouse in North Yorkshire to help stricken pilot Jim O'Neill, 65. He was flying a two-seater Cessna aircraft from Prestwick airport in Scotland to Colchester, Essex, when he suffered a stroke and lost his sight. The RAF plane flew alongside Mr O'Neill and the pilot shepherded him to the base with instructions over the radio. Mr O'Neill, who has 18 years' flying experience, was overhead at RAF Leeming in Northallerton when he encountered difficulty and sent a mayday alert last Friday. We are not used to shepherding blind pilots, which is what makes this amazing Wing Cdr Paul Gerrard Operations commanding officer at RAF Linton-on-Ouse, Wing Cdr Andy Hynd, said: "At first he believed he was being blinded by sunlight because he had difficulty seeing his instruments and so he declared an emergency. "He was handed over to us from Leeming and when we spoke to him he said he was happy to continue flying. "However, air traffic control noticed his aircraft was descending and turning and he was asked again whether he wanted to continue at which point he said no." Despite air traffic controllers' efforts, Mr O'Neill was unable to land the plane at nearby Full Sutton Airfield near York and was directed to RAF Linton-on-Ouse. Mr Hynd said: "He still couldn't see the runway here and he was starting to get distressed so we thought it was best to send a plane to him." 'Fantastic effort' Wing Cdr Paul Gerrard, chief flying instructor, flew his Tucano T1 about 50m next to the Cessna to bring Mr O'Neill safely down. Mr Hynd said: "He used his voice to guide him [Mr O'Neill] down by telling him to turn left and right, to lower the plane and to do his pre-landing checks. "At very short range he still couldn't see the runway and it was only at the last minute that he could. He landed about halfway down and came to a halt just at the end. "The RAF routinely practises shepherding but we are usually shepherding lost aircraft, we are not used to shepherding blind pilots, which is what makes this amazing. "It was a fantastic team effort from all those involved and we're proud that we could get him to the ground safely." Mr O'Neill was checked over by RAF medics before being transferred to Queen's Hospital in Romford, Essex where he is believed to be seriously ill. from http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/north_y...ire/7715345.stm

  6. Noticed the issue on a 3rd party F-104C with the shadow coming off the refuelling probe at certain angles as a line - have a pic somewhere - using geforce 7600 - never seen anything like it before the Oct2008 patch - not to say it wasn't happening before though. Cant have my graphics on high they are customised to get some king of fps rate - still after some more mucking around i will probably send tk a post
  7. False - Im English so Ive got a cup of Tea old chap The person below me has drunk Babycham :)
  8. Yeah there is a file you can rename - look further down some old threads - something like "vladic" or something you will still only get the f-16 pit obviously
  9. You should have no problems if you installed the patch over a new totally fresh install - nothing is modified yet right??
  10. False - I only humm embarassing tunes without realising - things like the Fraggle Rock theme tune and Catch the Pidgeon! The person below me remembers the cartoon "Captain Caveman" :)
  11. Think Lt Carters tactics will come in handy for the 1979 to 1982 timeframe lol of course you can just stay very low The SA-10 modelled in Falcon 4 - chaff has minimal to no effect!

    Makes 2 of us then!
  14. No you need the TerrainEngine.dll from the Oct2008b patch - if you had already patched your game to oct2008a previously
  15. Well tk has put this for reference For anyone else whos already put back together an install you may just be able to copy the new terrainengine.dll from the latest patch: The Wrench, Since the core game is still the same level, you'll need to apply B patch to a unpatched version. The only file thats changed (besides some other minor installer fix) should be TerrainEngine.DLL in game's system folder. So if you need to update already patched version, just apply the B patch on clean install somewhere, and copy and overwrite that file over. TK
  16. lol - you releasing different versions of these? Is Wikis service date entry of 1978/79 for the S-300 system accurate?? - surprised the Iraqis never got any the amount they spent on Russian SAMs during the 80s!!
  17. wow wasnt expecting more so soon seeya then - another month to redo my installs lol
  18. Yeah - totally - there is no reason to post any LOD files any way - you only need to submit the contents of the skins folder only.
  19. On the last point ......EA-18G Growler Agree on some other points - apart from the F-117A which although dependant on fly by wire (like the F-16) did change the face of warfare in 1991 not least replacing a mass conventional strike force with tiny force of F-117s and tankers to hit high value targets. The fact the only 5th gen a/c are stealth says it all. - all 4th gen a/c being produced are for countries without the cash for Stealth - Pretty sure they would take an F-22 if they could
  20. Dont think so - is it iRobot? The person below me enjoys flying Hawker Hunter intercept missions in WOE
  21. You may have to compromise with the Track IR zoom and padlock
