That I didn't know, and in fact I was just trying to employ LGB's on some targets of opportunity, and not on main ones. I've been searching a little more, and in fact some of the Rafales (naturally, not all versions) do have the "Damocles" pod, and there's another pod also, "Talio" I believe. EDIT: Using the Damocles pod I've had good success. In the EF-2000 however, after reading the read-me file and selecting the one version ( RAF ) as the one having air-to-ground role, I didn't find any kind of pod or LGB targeting device, but I'm somewhat noob on air-to-ground ops, so... There's some "Litening III" folder in the Weapons folder, but I don't see it at EF-2000 armament list.

Just a wild guess and I may be wrong, but sometimes anti-virus software updates also can cause that, (although at 40 % loading phase). On my case was Avast anti-virus, which after some regular update messed with some .dll libraries or something. Even after adding the respective files / folders to the exclusion list, they were already "quarantined"... so, had re-install SF2. http://combatace.com/topic/80293-and-so-sf2-decided-to-crash/

Strike Fighters 2 Screenshots

Hello, I'm digging this thread up because of the in game freeze issues. When flying single mission in Rends Germany scenario (which is outstanding by the way) on SF2 NA, merged install, after a few minutes / when a few more aircraft approached my flight, the game always freezes for several different tries on that mission. Always at the same point, and had to hit Ctrl + Alt + Delete to get to desktop. The apparent cause: Tweaking with the Mother Board settings and selecting - " CPU spread spectrum: Disabled " After putting it on: " Auto ", no freezes happened again. But wouldn't the disabled CPU spread spectrum help in overclocks ? Thank you.

Hello Antares81, I hope so, but why are you so sure ? Because I also was expecting that Aerosoft F-14X was complete of all avionics, and it didn't. For exmple: relating AIM-9 target acquisition modes, it only featured "Boresight" mode, and it's known that the Tomcat also has SEAM mode.

Very good Eric! For me, a jet fighter; avionics; weapons sighting systems; enthusiast, this post pretty much said it all. I was convinced that "T" (red box) designation had more importance to designate the target, than the padlock... but I didn't experiment much yet. Indeed you guessed my next question - the padlock feature and a somewhat similar use as HMS or JHMCS. For me, just the capability to selecting targets / locking missiles besides the HUD or Radar system (if the weapon allows it), reflects more "reality" factor to the sim - very cool feature expecially in this "light sim". So, the Russian missiles? Remember that after the 2 Germanys reunited, the R-73 Archer was seen as a rude wake-up call to western military. (I read that somewhere.) Do we have Python-5 missile in SF2 ?

As my actual doubt is also about MIssile parameters, I decided to post it here (and dig this one up) instead of creating threads at will. If i'm not mistaken I remember reading somewhere, that: in SF 2 the heat seeker missiles lock will be on the target closest to the center of aircraft boresight line (when existing multiple targets within the missile FOV and in range). So I've been experimenting with the Malaysian MiG-29 N and the R-74 Archer air-to-air missile, which can be fired on targets at high off-boresight angles. My doubts are : 1 - sometimes I managed to designate the target most off-boresight rather than the target closest to center line of aircraft ? 2 - it doesn't always work, but does using " T " letter "choose closest air target" have some effect ? 3 - does "F4" padlock as anything to do with it ? Check the images below and the missile trail showing it follows the target off-boresight.

LOL ! Those guys are on some other team's payroll !

Hello, Well, I have "Jane's: How to fly and fight in the F-14 TOMCAT", which my uncle was kind enough to send from the USA. Although this one is not "a bible" about the Tomcat, it sure has a lot of knowledge and interesting material. I recall also that: "Dave Baranek's: Topgun Days" must be outstanding from reviews I've read. Try to get MigBuster and Caesar's opinion, as they can give you very good insight. Hope it helps.

Ok, so if I match the "new" name also in the main .ini I can keep the 2 aircraft ? Explaining better: - what I aim for most of the times is for instance, add to my merged install some brand new MiG-21 from CombatAce, but already having other CombatAce MiG-21 versions; - eventually some files and folders will have exactly the same name, so my point is: I want to keep both aircraft, whitout having to overwrite any files or folders in order to not corrupt textures; airframes; camouflages; etc. How should I do that ?
-
Yes, I've seen that sometimes the original (or first modded) folder already there, is even bigger than the new one and has some more images and a different LOD file within. For instance: folders inside the "Pilot" folder. Sometimes I choose to not overwrite some files / folders, but when you have a message asking you to confirm that, on 30 or 40 of them... I was thinking about renaming same name files / folders according to each different aircraft, but that might be tricky, as then one would have to rename accordingly every other files in which they are related, like for instance: " MIG-21SMF_DATA ". Is that right?

Hello everyone, would appreciate your "enlightment" on some doubts please. 1 - After installing some modded add-on aircraft on my SF2 merged install, eventually when installing another aircraft some files and folders ask to be overwritten. So is it natural, that because these frequent file / folder overwrites, sometimes in game some aircraft camouflages get corrupted ?

Very good!
