  1. All you need is an .obj or .fbx exporter. Almost every 3D package can import/export .obj.
  2. It is Vought's mockup of their F-14 design.
  3. More Iceland fun using my own wip hacked-together tileset
  4. It's still higher resolution than an Xbox360 or Playstation 3.
  5. Looks like overexposure from the screen to me. Besides, didn't he already state they were using middleware (ie: Unity 3D) for the mobile stuff?
  6. Well to be honest, back then technology was moving at such a rapid pace that the filled polygon graphics of Falcon 3 were obsolete at almost the time it came out.
  7. The fun thing with Streakeagle's rant about ARMA becoming a zombie game is that DayZ is much more hardcore simulation than stock ARMA2 ever was and that's exactly why it's so popular. If anything DayZ is proof that hardcore sim done right can be very successful commercially.
  8. The Eurofighter is already obsolete. Stealth is such a major gamechanger which is why Russia and China are investing huge sums of money into developing VLO fighters that can fight on equal ground with the F-22. Against T-50 or J-20 Eurocanards will do as well as the Fairey Battle.
  9. He's also changed his businessmodel from selling a moddable final product to the DLC model. I called this already back in 2011 when the DLC store was introduced. It is obvious that DLC is a non-trivial part of his revenue, or he wouldn't keep doing them. Locking down the game forces customers into buying his content since he can now hold a monopoly on visual quality.
  10. I think the current combat sim community as reflected by the DCS and ARMA crowd is an unimaginative one. Just look at how they whined that ARMA3 was going to be set in the future. It sucks because there are so many other avenues of air combat that could be explored but are commercially unviable as the only available platform around is DCS.
  11. Obama is a muslim communist so go figure.
  12. That has nothing to do with 'realism'. It's the same old as with the subsim people talking about 'realism' when they're really talking fidelity and historical accuracy. I don't see how what-if is less realistic if the design is well-documented and well-researched.
  13. What kind of bothers me is that the DCS audience might not be very interested in anything that isn't 'modern fast-mover'. I'd be inclined to port over my Model 200A VSTOL jet along with a sea control ship.
  14. Hey Spinners, have you given thought at doing up a Tu-95 in SAC markings as a stand-in Douglas 1211J?
  15. I find the Secret Projects books to be entertaining for the sheer volume of oddball designs featured in them. Once I get a fulltime job I'm going to order a truckload of new books.
  16. There is a whole chapter devoted to F-108 in American Secret Projects: Fighters & Interceptors 1945-1978 You'd do well to pick that up as well as the companion volume on bombers.
  17. Make it the original delta canard variant without the ventral fins.
  18. Yes but you still have smoothing errors because you have awful kinks and bends in your mesh flow. Make sure the edges flow properly like they would on the real airframe and as I've drawn in blue below:
  19. Fix the smoothing errors. Do autosmooth >45dgs
  20. I always used to get 75% duds firing AIM-7's. That is, missile fails to guide and explodes after 5 seconds.
