DESCRIPTION:

Two new aircraft, four new skins with matching drop-tanks, with up-graded radar and avionics for the Starfighter.
New Menu screens and many more 'upgrades'
All as historically accurate as possible

INSTALLATION:
Assuming you have WoE (ie., "Wings over Europe"), the process is simple...just extract and place the folder named "Terrain" into the your Wings Over Europe Folder, and you're ready to go.
In all other titles, extract the watereffect.fx and the waternormaldot3 into the Terrain subdirectory of your choice.
In Strike Fighters, that would be "Desert". In Wings over Vietnam, it would be "VietnamSEA. In WoI, it's "IsraelME".
This effect is optimized for use with Brain32's WoE terrain using Cellisnsky's widesky 1.0 mod.
*NOTE*: I cannot guarantee that it will work to everybody's satisfaction with other ThirdWire titles, terrain sets, or environment mods.
KNOWN ISSUES: Cards that lack FULL DX9.0C support, such as ATI Radeon 9x -X1K series and the nVidia GeforceFX(5) series, may experience pixelation issues when close to the "water's" surface. The only workaround is to either turn off the shaders, or to break down and purchase a card that supports DX9.0C.
This effect is all but unusable in Windows Vista, due to its poor DX9 support.
The .FX files contained in the zip archive based on ThirdWire's original's, and re-compiled & debugged using ATI's RenderMonkey.

**********J-8 Date INI FIX********************
J-8 (Jian-8 Fighter aircraft 8) / F-8
Fixed:
1,The Rightwingstation is useabel now.
2,I used Jug's excellent J-8 Finback Lighting.
3,And thanks Wrench's Flashtime. :-)
***********************************************
The J-8 was the first PLAAF aircraft of domestic design, with design work beginning in 1964.
The overall configuration is a rather straightforward enlargement of the MiG-21/J-7 layout
to accomodate two engines. Although it resembled Mikoyan's experimental Ye-152A, contrary
to some early reports, it was not based on that aircraft. Production began in December 1979,
with about 100-150 units of the first configuration entering service. Design work on the
improved J-8-2 began in 1980, with production beginning in the late 1980. As with the cancelled
"Super 7" upgrade to the single-engine J-7, the J-8II completely reworks the front end of the
aircraft, adding a much larger radar and ventral air inlets, along with various other less
pronounced improvements. The best that can be said of the J-8 is that once upgraded it will be
no more than an advanced obsolete aircraft, comparable in configuration and aerodynamic
performance to the Su-15 FLAGON.
****************************************************
Installation
1. Install the latest Weapons Pak:
http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=2672
2. Extract the zip file and copy the "J-8_DATA.ini" into J-8 folder,and replace it.
Enjoy!

AVG Skinpack v1.1
For P-40 Tomahawk by Wolf257
Thanks to Wrench for sharing his superlative Template, and for the use of his new, improved ring-bead gunsight and cockpit.ini file. Cheers Wrench ;-)
Thanks also to Wolf257 for his AVG camo pattern which forms the base colouring of this skin set.
Decals, .ini edits and so forth by Baltika. There are a/c numbers, tailcodes and squadron markings for 100 of the AVG Tomahawks. Where possible I have tried to match these up with actual serial numbers, but the sources of information are often conflicting.
What you get are three separate folders, one for each of the AVG Squadrons, "Adam & Eves," "Panda Bears" and "Hell's Angels." Just drop the the 1AVG, 2AVG and 3AVG folders into your Tomahawk folder and you should be good to go.
There is also a folder called "AVGKills" which also goes into your Tomahawk folder. This contains kill markings for up to 50 kills. If your pilot has more than that you will need to start a new pilot to get them to show up.
You may want to add the following entries to your SquadronList.ini - what, you don't already have them. . . ? ;-)
Add to SquadronList, renumbering from the last in line:-
[squadronxxx]
Name=1AVG
DisplayName=1st Sqdn AVG - "Adam & Eves" - Sqdn. Ldr. Robert Neale
Nation=AVG
[squadronxxx]
Name=2AVG
DisplayName=2nd Sqdn AVG - "Panda Bears" - Sqdn. Ldr. John Newkirk
Nation=AVG
[squadronxxx]
Name=3AVG
DisplayName=3rd Sqdn AVG - "Hell's Angels" - Sqdn. Ldr. Arvid Olson
Nation=AVG
Also, make sure your NATION.INI (in the /Flight folder) has the following entry - I'm not sure if this is stock with the upgraded Nations Pack, or Charles' WW2 Formations mod, but here it is just in case:=-
[Nationxxx]
Name=AVG
DisplayName=American Volunteer Group
Alignment=FRIENDLY
PlayerFlyable=TRUE
Mercenary=FALSE
PilotNameList=NamesUS.lst
RankList=RanksUSAF.lst
CallsignList=CallsignsUS.lst
Formation.Fighter=WW2USFighter
Formation.Attack=WW2USMedBomber
Formation.Bomber=WW2USBomber
Formation.Transport=WW2USMedBomber
Formation.Tank=USTank
Formation.MobileAD=USAD
PilotTrainingStandard=GOOD
GenderRatio=0
DebriefSuccessMusic=DebriefSuccess.wav
DebriefFailMusic=DebriefFail.wav
DebriefKilledMusic=DebriefKilled.wav
SpeechFile=USAFSpeech.cat
SpeechTextFile=USAFSpeechText.cat
Medals=MedalsROC.ini
MedalTextFile=MedalsROC.str
I have also included a new Flying Tigers themed loading screen from a "collage" I found somewhere on the web. Drop it into your Tomahawk folder and edit the Tomahawk.ini file to include the following line, replacing the old one, if you want to use it:-
LoadingScreen=FlyingTigersLoading.bmp
Unfortunately I can't find my note of the name of the person who made this so I can't give proper credit. Sorry! It was freely available for d/l on a "fair use" basis, so I don't think I am breaching their intention by including it here. If you recognise it, please let me know and I will add a credit, or remove it if the originator so wishes.
You will also see a Ring-bead sight .tga and cockpit .ini which were built by Wrench, and are gratefully included in this package. Here's the instructions from Wrench's original Readme:-
****************************************************
= To Install Gunsight/Cockpit ini:
Rename your original Tomahawk_COCKPIT.INI by renaming it somehing originnal, like "ori_Tomahawk_COCKPIT.INI"
Drop the new "Ring-Bead_Sight.tga" into the cockpit folder.
Drop the new "Tomahawk_COCKPIT.INI" into the main Tomahawk folder.
You're done. This will give you a nice, standard fixed sight (done in black, with a gold aim bead). It might take a little getting used to, but it's much more historically accurate, as the reflector sights didn't appear until the D model.
As usual, I can be reached at the emal below, or on the SimHQ, Colum5 or CombatAce message boards. With thanks to Wolf for creating this bird, and to everyone else who has expanded our gaming experience into other times and places!
Enjoy!

That's all folks!
Any problems, questions, complaints about these skins, you can get me at combatace. I am a fully signed up member of the "Fair Use" modding agreement at combatace, so feel free to modify these as you wish. Credit where it's due (remember the original template is by Wrench, The) and no payware, but otherwise these are fair game.
Burma Air War 1942 campaign coming soon. . .
Cheers,

Strike Fighters/Wings Over Vietnam/Wings Over Europe etc Mi-24 skins readme
All credit for these skins goes to their creators as detailed below. All I've done is to re-format them for SF\WOV\WOE and add a textureSet to each skin.
Not all of the countries for which we have skins are included in the standard NATIONS.ini list, so I've left those as Soviet. It doesn't make any difference to the skins' appearance as there are no decals to worry about. If you have the New Nations mod that includes these missing countries then feel free to modify the relevant TextureSet.
All you need to do is to extract the skin to your Objects\Aircraft\Mi-24 folder, then go fly and blow up some stuff.
Thanks must go to the A Team for making the Mi-24 for SF\WOV\WOE, Tim Conrad for the original Mi-24V, and of course TK for giving us these great sims to play with.
This skin is based on Mike Pearson's textures and converted with his kind permission.
Enjoy, and good hunting
Allen
ps You can use these skins in any mods, campaigns etc, but please name check me and the original skinners in your credits as a courtesy. Thanks
