    1. The Sukhoi Su-30MKI[3] (NATO reporting name: Flanker-H) is a twinjet Multirole Air superiority fighter developed by Russia's Sukhoi and built under licence by India's Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the Indian Air Force (IAF). A variant of the Sukhoi Su-30, it is a heavy, all-weather, long-range fighter.
Development of the variant started after India signed a deal with Russia in 2000 to manufacture 140 Su-30 fighter jets.[4] The first Russian-made Su-30MKI variant was accepted into the Indian Air Force in 2002,[5] while the first indigenously assembled Su-30MKI entered service with the IAF in 2004.[6] Additional MKIs have been ordered to increase the total to 272. The IAF had 200 Su-30MKIs in service as of August 2014.[1] The Su-30MKI is expected to form the backbone of the Indian Air Force's fighter fleet to 2020 and beyond

    2. Republic Aviation P-47N 'VPAF' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2

This is a very simple mod of Russouk2004's P-47N Thunderbolt to give a fictional P-47N in service with an embryonic North Vietnamese Air Force.

      BACKSTORY

The Viet Minh artillery attacks against the French airbase at Dien Bien Phu on March 16th, 1954 resulted in the destruction of six French F8F Bearcats , five MS.500's and two helicopters. In addition, several French P-47N Thunderbolts, F6F Hellcats, SB2C Helldivers and PB4Y Privateers were damaged and could not be flown out. This setback was immediately compound by a failed air-drop to help sustain the besieged French garrison and before long the Viet Minh insurgents had overrun the garrison despite a very brave defence by the French forces.

Immediately following the Geneva Conference of July 1954, which recognised the 17th parallel as being a provisional military demarcation line dividing the country into two zones, North Vietnam soon started the development of military aviation in the new Communist state by sending a number of trainees to the USSR and China for pilot training and aircraft maintenance training. In September 1954, Vice-Premier Pham Van Ðong ordered the immediate formation of the North Vietnam Air Force mainly using aircraft left behind by the retreating French forces but soon bolstered by equipment from the Soviet Union. Sufficient P-47N's were scraped together to form the 921st Fighter Regiment based at Thanh Hoá Air Base who were declared operational in February 1955.

      INSTRUCTIONS

      1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the P-47N_VPAF folder into your main Aircraft folder.

      2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the P-47N_VPAF folder into your main Decals folder.

      3. From the WEAPONS folder drag and drop both folders into your main Weapons folder. The SHAVR is simply a fictional Soviet version of the HVAR created as the stock S-24 is too big and heavy.

      CREDITS

As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim.

Thanks to Russouk2004 for creating the superb P-47N and for making the equally good template available.

Installations: So here we go...there are 3 ways to install this mod...

      1) Cowboy (also called the "Damn the torpedoes!") method...
      * You backed up, right? This method changes some common effects shared by all planes.
      * Unzip the new mod and copy the contents in the "To_Mod_Folder" and "Optional_Effects" to your SF2 mod folder.
      * Overwrite when prompted.
      * You're done, see if you like the new planes and effects.

      2) Veteran Viper Pilot method...(You already have Viper Team F-16's installed)...
      * Even veterans know they need to backup...Right?
      * Unzip the new mod and >> COPY ONLY << the contents in the "To_Mod_Folder" to your SF2 mod folder.
      * Overwrite when prompted.
      * If you want to try out my new optional effects, copy the contents in the "Optional_Effects" folder to your SF2 mod folder. These are common effects that affects most planes in the game...this is why these are optional.

    4. F-4 Phantom II in Royal New Zealand Air Force service ('What If')

      Background (factual):

In mid 1964 Operational Requirement No. 5/Air called for a tactical combat aircraft to replace the Canberra. Specifically a long range aircraft with the primary role of counter-air/interdiction and secondary roles of close air support and air defense.

In June 1965 The Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice-Marshal (AVM) Morrison was quoted as wanting 18 F-111 aircraft for the RNZAF at a cost of £1.5 million per aircraft. The public and media supported the idea but the Chief of Defense Staff (who was a Naval Officer) and the acting Prime Minister publicly opposed the purchase.

In August 1965 the Chiefs of Staff Committee rejected the idea of acquiring long-range interdiction aircraft and in September agreed that close air support should be the primary role of the new combat aircraft.

In December came Air Staff Requirement No. 12 with the following requirements of the new combat aircraft:

      - Ability to provide effective air support to ground forces.
      - Highly reliable and robust
      - Self defense capability to evade or counter supersonic interceptors and surface-to-air missiles.
      - Long range.
      - Ability to operate closely with American and Australian forces.

By May 1966 the RNZAF had finished evaluating six candidate aircraft:

      - F-4C Phantom II
      - A-7A Corsair II
      - Mirage IIIO
      - F-5A Freedom Fighter
      - F-104G Starfighter
      - A-4E Skyhawk

In August 1966 the RNZAF officially asked the government to purchase 16 F-4 Phantoms at a total cost of £19 million.

Now remember AVM Morrison making it known he wanted the F-111? He would later go on to admit he never wanted the F-111 he had wanted the F-4 all along but given the cost of the F-4 he wanted to make it look more attractive (cost wise) by putting it next to the F-111.

The minister of Defense then announced the final stage of the evaluation had been reached and a decision was a few weeks away. The purchase of the F-4 seemed to be all but done...

BUT the Treasury department now intervened and recommended purchasing the F-5! The RNZAF High Command was furious! But ultimately powerless to halt the path to purchasing the A-4 Skyhwak that had just begun.

Over the next year the RNZAF, Cabinet Defense Committee, Treasury, the Finance Minister and the Chief of Defense wrangled over purchasing the F-4 or an alternative (F-5 or A-4). Then at the end of 1967 the New Zealand Currency was devalued and a squadron of F-4 Phantoms was now instantly out of New Zealand’s price range. It was either 11 Phantoms or 16 Skyhawks. So the Skyhawk it was.

So if the Treasury Department hadn't intervened in the procurement process towards the end of 1966 it seems entirely likely that New Zealand would have placed and order for the F-4 Phantom II at the end of that year!

And so I give you the F-4D Phantom II in RNZAF Service 1969 to 2002.

I chose the F-4D as when the order would have likely been placed in late 1966/ early 1967 the F-4D was the current USAF production model as the first of the F-4E models were only just being built as part of the USAF F-4D contract.

The RNZAF F-4D models are built to the same standard as the last USAF F-4D coming off the production line in the late 60's. However like the A-4K in real life they are 'fitted for but not with' ECM/ RHAW equipment. This means the wiring, sensors and cockpit RHAW display are installed but the actual 'black box' control units are not.

The reason for this (as in real life with the A-4K) was not an economy measure as most references state (including the Third Wire manual) but because the equipment was in such demand by US forces for use in Vietnam. So the aircraft were delivered without them but with the intention of fitting them at a latter date. However that day simply never came and this is possibly where the additional cost of purchasing/ installing them played a part in it not happening.

The Kiwi F-4D Phantoms are capable of caring the full range of the USAF Phantom arsenal including first generation smart weapons. However only the Mk 82/83/84 series bombs and unguided rockets are used by the RNZAF. For the air-to-air role the SUU-23/A gunpod, AIM-7E and AIM-9E are chosen with the AIM-4 Falcons performance in Vietnam causing the RNZAF to steer well clear of it.

      Four separate Aircraft:

F-4D Phantom II RNZAF - Initial aircraft delivered in 1969 fitted for but not with ECM/ RHAW equipment.

F-4D Phantom II (72) RNZAF - By 1973 the redundant RHAW display has been removed from the cockpit as well as the empty IRST pod under the nose that was to house the RHAW gear.

F-4D Phantom II (78) RNZAF - Second hand attrition aircraft from USAF stocks delivered in 1985 in preparation for the project Kahu upgrade of the fleet.

F-4D Phantom II (88) Kahu RNZAF - In 1986 a comprehensive $140 million upgrade program is undertaken. Known as project 'Kahu' the heart of the upgrade is replacing the old AN/APG-109 radar with the modern AN/APG-66(NZ) multi-mode radar. The cockpit is modernized with glass displays, HOTAS and a Ferranti wide-angle HUD. Survivability in increased with the ALR-66 RWR and ALE-40 countermeasure dispensers. The MIL-STD 1553B databus and Litton Industries LN-93 inertial navigation system are also installed. The airframes and engines are completely stripped down and given a life extension with almost all of the aircraft wiring replaced. A smoke abatement system is added along with low voltage formation lights.

The aircraft also receive armament upgrades including the capability to fire AIM-9L, AIM-7M, AGM-65B/G and GBU-10 Paveway II laser-guided bombs. The old F-4 Phantom external center drop tanks are also replaced by the F-15 600 gallon HPC tanks as on USAF Phantoms. By the end of 1991 all New Zealand and ex USAF Phantoms have been upgraded to the 'Kahu' standard.

      Requirments:

you will need one of the SF2 games with the F-4D as well the Third Wire DLC A-4K Skyhawk for the decals.

      Bonus:

Included in a separate folder is a RNZAF F-4D for use with the SF2V Air & Ground War Expansion Pack. This is the Kiwi F-4D fitted with the required ECM and stores for operations in the Vietnam War.

    5. C-17 Globemaster III Upgrade
      by daddyairplanes

This mod upgrades Veltro2k's C-17 Globemaster III to incorporate all tactical USAF and all foreign users. It has skins for all 9 C-17 operators as well as time specific in the USAF and a couple of fictional skins (15 in all). The base skin has been updated by Flogger23 and myself, and ini updated by yours truly.

      ***************************** Installation: ********************************
unzip, copy to mods folder, allow overwrite if needed.

      *****************************Known Issues********************************
-The cockpit is nonexistant. These are mainly as AI and the mission set for transports is limited so this will probably not be fixed soon
-while cargo statements are included in the data.ini, there is a wall at the back of the cargo bay that prevents the interior from being seen. If this is remodeled, i will include cargo "weapons" and tweek the positions.
-the Qatar VIP skin does not have "Qatar" decal on the bottom. It left a mark on the right side as a tga and was too screwy looking being on the seam of the skin so i left it off.

      *********************Contibutors and Thanks to: ********************
      Veltro2K- created the original model
Flogger23- reworked the skin for better looking panel lines and other features
Lazarus1177- pointing out to use jpeg rather than bmp. Learn something new everyday
daddyairplanes- tga work, ini editting, stubborn determination to see more than just one unit on a skin
      airliners.net- loading and hangar screens
Dave, Muesli, Flogger23, Viggen, Lazarus1177, allenjb42- other sets of eyes to catch what i screwed up on

I hope you enjoy this mod and airlift the troops right to the enemies doorstep.

      ******************************WARNING*******************************************************************************
this bird is rather old, and has its limitations. it is not meant for flying on recon missions,
but rather mainly for eye candy and somethin to possibly intercept or escort. while you CAN
fly it, that does NOT MEAN YOU SHOULD. that said buyer beware all quirks of this bird like the pitch
down on gear and flap retractions and the non moving control surfaces.

      ****************************USE OF THIS MOD*************************************************************************
I will allow fairly free use of this mod in any other mod. What i (at this time) request is that you do not
create a new skin based airline for it. the airlines are on as tga so that many airlines show up at one time.
A seperate say "Pan Am" skin will ruin the effect and there will be 8-9 Pan Am birds on the tarmac. Any airline
you would like to see, pm me and i will either tell you how to make it or time allowing make it and add in. Thank
      you.

again, thank you for downloading this and i hope you enjoy it

    7. CFM E-3 Sentrys
      by daddyairplanes

This mod adjusts Veltro2k's E-3D release to add all 3 E-3 versions that used CFM-56 engines. Included are the RAF's D model, French AF's F model and Royal Saudi AF's A model.

      Installation
Unzip. Install into desired mod molder. Allow merging and overwrites

      Known Issues
No there is not an ESM kit for the E-3F at this time. If a 3d modeller is able to assist in the future one may be added via fakepilot. However the French birds are the only ones to use that bit of equipment, so it is somewhat low priority.

      Aircraft Included
      Sentry AEW.1 (E-3D), E-3F Sentry and E-3A Sentry RSAF

      Credits
Veltro2k: original model and original hangar screen for the E-3D

    8. In 1965, due to the rising tensions between the Kingdom of Dhimar and the Empire of Paran, the Royal Dhimari Intelligence Service started Operation Mockingbird, in wich it planned to illegally acquire second-handed Soviet equipment from an undisclosed nation. The RDIS managed to buy 15 MiG-17F aircrafts, that once in Dhimari power, will be renamed MiG-17Dh. Based on Megnah Airbase, once ensembled, insignias and cockpit labels where changed, and the aircrafts enterded official service.

Installation is as usual. You will need Stary's great MiG-15/17 cockpit. It is not included, you can find it here: http://combatace.com/files/file/12684-mig-15-mig-15-bis-mig-17-cockpit/
It is a MiG-17F with a modified Somalian Air Corps skin made by Wrench.

Thank you very much Wrench and Stary!!
