website so slow

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have noticed that the website is slow to respond. It takes a long time to load the page, even when posting or sending a PM to other members. Am I the only one experiencing this issue?

Same here, I had some borked downloads because of the site stability. Which is what it is and is slow sometimes when doing inane stuff.

Perhaps a problem with the bandwidth. If to may people are on this site it slowed down.

Same here. took almost 2 minutes (i timed it) right now to have the site open. When I uploaded the terrain and ground objects yesterday, there was no issue with the uploads themselves; but it took almost a hour for the refresh to happen.

It's been happening for at least 3 months (?). Many of us have tried contacting Erik, but he hasn't responded. We all hope he's ok.

If something bad has happened to Erik ( hopefully not) this could well be the end of the site completely.

Sorry if I sound full of doom but it's entirely possible.

I hope not, but you're totally right.

If anyone knows how to reach Erik outside the forum, could you please get in touch and make sure he's alright?

We can't just sit here; we gotta figure out how to check on him.

The machine that runs mysql was nerfed after an update. I'll monitor it when I can.

Thanks all but we're not out of the woods yet and my time is severely limited. I'm trying to triage everything and I will get to your questions in due time but it won't be immediately. I do appreciate your DMs and for now all I can do is scan them. Right now lets work on the health of the site. The real solutions will have to be addressed when I have the time to dedicate to them, we should plan for that.

I need feedback how the site is performing. Is it fixed for everyone or still slow?

Thank you for everything, and for me, the site is working great. :good:

PS. except posting takes a longer time to send.

The site is working faster now,

okay I'll let mysql run for 24 hours and see what the new fixes do for load but I fear the most important fix will be to update that machine, sigh.

Yes, like Ant said, it takes a very long time to refresh an upload. I did two today, and it took nearly 40 minutes.
