1Patriot-of-many Posted December 4 Posted December 4 Any of you excellent modders, how about a Afghanistan mod?
+Wrench Posted December 4 Posted December 4 are you talking terrains or campaings??? Both terrains have been around for like, 10-12 years...
+Flanker562 Posted December 4 Posted December 4 Yeah, and I believe there are Taliban units too. I mean as Wrench said an Afghanistan map has been out for years, done by Gepard.
+Gepard Posted December 4 Posted December 4 Yeah. mine Afghanistan terrain was made for WoE (first generation SF). IIRC Wrench converted it to SF2. In the search section looking for Afghanistan in files and you find all what you need.
anunk47 Posted December 4 Posted December 4 Agree with Wrench and Gepard, I've playing a lot of them, both Afghanistan 79-89 and later (W.O.T/Taliban) Terrain. also GKabs Provided many of the much needed ground object such as Manpads crew or technicals. Both terrains also "light" to load, but have many "element of surprise". 4
1Patriot-of-many Posted December 6 Author Posted December 6 So guys can you explain in detail how I would install this stuff and run campaigns?
+CrazyhorseB34 Posted December 6 Posted December 6 I did a complete Soviet Afghan mod. I guess know one cares. 3

Maybe we can pimp it a little one day? We have some new assets. One way or another, the Soviet-Afghan war is much better suited for this game. Even if it is a more ground-pounding way. The next invasions of Afghanistan in-game would be way too one-sided. Edited December 6 by yakarov79
+Flanker562 Posted December 6 Posted December 6 During my 11 months they routinely (sometimes) hid during when fast air was on station, and attack helicopters. Don't mistake high technology being "one-sided" against a foe who earned a lot of respect, and frankly of course knew the country better than we did. So yeah you're right, but in the game the enemy infantry doesn't run away, so that's a major difference compared to what happened there. I don't know everybody who served in Afghanistan, but just because you got the latest tech doesn't mean you'll win, and we I saw that when simple terrain defeats modern targeting pods and the like.
+yakarov79 Posted December 6 Posted December 6 I meant in-game. Ground war in most of the sims is suffering. I liked it in IL-2 series and in Apache-Havoc... in the rest is just barely okay. 1

1Patriot-of-many Posted Tuesday at 01:34 AM Author Posted Tuesday at 01:34 AM Hey guys I was talking about a campaign, I have no clue how to stitch things together to create my own.

+Flanker562 Posted Tuesday at 02:19 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:19 PM Oh campaigns... Well you can check the Downloads and there might be something, but I don't remember a campaign being uploaded for that terrain.
+allenjb42 Posted Tuesday at 08:58 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:58 PM Gerard released a couple of Afghanistan campaigns in the SF1 downloads sections. And I’m feeling really old that I remember playing them on release over 10 years ago! 2

I just play single mission in each terrains, I don't play campaign mode. Mostly I'm flying using mission editor, create a scenario when we have to support ground force being ambushes or protecting convoy etc. 2
+Gepard Posted Wednesday at 01:56 PM Posted Wednesday at 01:56 PM My campaigns for WOE Afghanistan terrain: I'm not sure wheter they will work on SF2. 5
+CrazyhorseB34 Posted Thursday at 10:57 PM Posted Thursday at 10:57 PM This is the one I modded for personal use.
SUDNAVY Posted Friday at 03:28 PM Posted Friday at 03:28 PM Actually, I think the Kosovo War would be more suitable as an SF2 campaign.
