Let't try to keep our WOI discussion in this thread, as there is bound to be a lot of interest. This will make it easier for people find all the info they are looking for.

TK has given us the go-ahead to post screenshots from the current build of WOI, which hopefully will be the release version.

In addition, I've updated my SF Version Comparison chart with information for WOI:

I'll be back in a bit with some screens.

I love that F-106 shot at the top of the linked page!

Maybe an odd statement considering the topic, but I had to get it out there.

Very nice chart, BTW, a lot of good info. Can't wait for the screenies, and especially THE RELEASE!!11

OK, these aren't the most spectacular screenshots ever but I did not want to leave you hanging overnight.

First up is the excellent cockpit for the F-16A Netz.

And an external view of the Netz. Note the very nice terrain textures. They are the best stock textures so far IMO.

Here is the Kfir C2 cockpit.

And an external shot of the Kfir. One of my favorite planes done really nicely by TK and Co.

And finally a couple of shots of static aircraft at an Israeli base and an Egyptian base. A really nice feature brought over from FE. Its VERY easy to get target fixation when you are trying to strafe these!

We'll get some more shots up as soon as possible.

It was a tough one to find, what with the pointer directly by it.

And that Kfir above is just awesome.

New land textures, etc.

The more I look, the more I want!!

There are improvements that screenshots won't show...

such as radar ECM/ECCM.

Radar doesn't work so well near the ground any more.

Doppler radars like the F-15 don't work so well when targets put their beam to the line of sight.

In short, radar missiles are a whole lot less effective than before if the target is low or turns 90 degrees to the direction the radar is moving.

The terrain is especially impressive at medium to high altitudes over the mountains.

WOI is what SFP1 should have been.

There is always room for improvement, but WOI raises the bar in a lot of little areas besides the obvious terrain and planeset additions.

I saw...*caugh* modern HUD and *caugh* ground radar! :clapping:

And I must definitely say that terrain looks great :good:

Is it a higher resolution terrain(tiles)?

It most certainly looks great...

Glad to see medals have been added to a pilots' record, YAY! Those cockpits are about the nicest I've seen in any sim. Man, this series is just gettin' better all the time.

Does this statement -- especially the low level radar performance -- apply to Player plane only, or to both Player and AI aircraft?

I'm thinking that AI aircraft sharing low level radar restrictions might allow the Player to use new tactics.

The terrain and water textures look excellent. And the populated airfields are just screaming for a recreation of Operation Moked

Populating the airfields -- NOW that' what I'm talking about!!!

The AG radar is the answer to MANY prayers!!!

The medals screen is nice, too.

Excellent nice of him to give us these features - can finally riddle the place with static stock planes without using single missions (i think)

Not really important but before anyone else asks - can you turn the engine off

Wonder if TK will still be supporting the original Strike Fighters with the next service packs.
