+Gocad Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Happy B-day, Spitfire! May you keep flying for another 70 years. I do not think that another aircraft should be named Spitfire...ever. There is simply no need since there are still plenty original Spits around. Quote
Nesher Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 congrats to the spit! a sight for sore eyes <S> btw, the one in the IAF museum is absolutly beautiful!#! Quote

+BUFF Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Got myself a copy of The First of the Few this week :) A Spit is truly a thing of visual & aural beauty. Quote
Mannie Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 (edited) KUKULINO. these are for you. sorry about the small size. As far as I know, they came from Czechoslovakia in operation "Velvet". The black spit was the one flown by the late chief of the IAF and later the president of Israel Eizer Waisman. Cheers. Edited August 4, 2008 by Mannie Quote
kukulino Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 (edited) Thank you Mannie Spitfire is nice on smaller pictures too Yes, famous Black Spitfire. We sold Mk-IXE version to Israel and our pilots flews Avias S-199 than Eizer Waisman trained on S-199 in Czechoslovakia too. S-199 were first fighters delivered into Israel from CSSR, as we know. But there were another Spitfires delivered to Israel from another countries too. Edited August 4, 2008 by kukulino Quote
Mannie Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 (edited) But there were another Spitfires delivered to Israel from another countries too. I really don't know about it. (shame on me!) Will have to look at some history and find out about it. About the S-199, I think all in all there where four of them, but I can't be sure about the numbers. Anyway they where only few of them. kukulino Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Maybe I mix up my Czechoslovak Spitfire knowledge with some Mustangs delivered into Israel from Sweden. So my mystake maybe Anyway, one of the nicest planes ever made. BTW: is somewhere hi poly 3D model as WIP? It is extremly hard plane for modders I suppose Quote
Mannie Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 For me, any of them is impossible to make. I think, to be a moder is a gift of god. (it looks like science fiction to me. ) Quote
+Brain32 Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 UGH, I use to like the Spitfire, now I can stand a freakin look at it... HB anyway, it's not the planes fault Quote
Longestpants Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Happy Birthday to one of the greatest warbirds ever made. Quote
+allenjb42 Posted August 4, 2008 Author Posted August 4, 2008 It seems....did RAF wish give F-35 a name called "Spitfire II"? I always thought that they should have named the Eurofighter 2000 'Spitfire', instead of Typhoon. Quote
