Guest ansons2 Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 WOW. Being Italian and having worked in Corsica, the map is awesome. Venice is perfect, Cagliari (sardinian women areq uite beautiful) and the shepherd in corsica. Awesome. Which airports are you planning to include? Anyway thank you , this is awesome Hello Canadair To answer your question about airports, I have put one for most of the main towns Italy: Napoli, Roma, Bologna, Milano, Torino, Genoa Sardignia: Cagliari Corsica: Ajaccio, Bastia There are other towns without airfields like Bonifacio, Oristano, Venezia, Rimini. I hope you will enjoy the map ! Italy , Sardignia and Corsica are beautiful countries. Flying at treetops and visiting the towns in the Map (Pause + Ctrl F12) gives me the desire to visit them ! I hope you will enjoy the map once released. Best regards anosns2 Quote
Guest ansons2 Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 nice, nice... but try making the trees less saturated, no these really stand out from the background, make the graphics less vivid. I'm refering to Corsica shots, to be precise anyway I like it! Hello Stary, I considered you as the Master for trees ! I will give a try at the end to make them a bit less vivid but for now my main goal is to have contrasting landscapes thru the Map, thus for North Africa and Italy I am using your trees (thanks for them) and other ones for the other countries, I am quite happy till now with the differences. About the qty of trees, the screenshots have been taken with Terrain Detail set to unlimited. I like to have forests looking like real forests even with a bit FPS hit. I hope you will enjoy the map once finished. Best regards ansons2 Quote

Not nitpicking, just an advice from my side  but blend them with background, blend... like here: notice how the trees are matching the overall saturation and ground pallete of the set in the example, looks quite good I'd say Quote

Examples of added towns/harbors: Nantes, Saint-Nazaire, Orleans, Lorient, Brest, Cherbourg, Toulon, Marseille, Saint-Malo, Caen, Ouistreham, Le Havre, Caen, Rouen. I am currently working the Seine river towards Paris. The total number of tiles will likely exceed 800. the Map takes now a bit time to load but I can still fly it with my old rig. Still a lot of work to do, but I want to have it completed. Here a few screenshots of the newly added tiles/towns. Trees and Buildings will be added later ! Guest ansons2 Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Beautiful tiles Ansons But can you have more than 256 tiles? Hello Pureblue, To answer your question : yes, I have currently ~740 tiles in the Map (I have merged SFP1 Desert, WOE Germany Tile sets + many custom made tiles for France , UK) and the number of tiles will continue to grow as I have still to add towns , harbors and roads ... I have sized the tiles to 256K to keep the memory usage as low as possible and to have them usable in the Terrain Editor. ansons2 Quote
