Ok, all of my sources say VF-213 took the twelve navy F-4G's into combat in 1965, yet, the only picture I've found of this aircraft has VF-121 painted on its side!?

 

 

Only photo I have the code is obscured by a folding wing - but that states is was VF-213 also

There's a pic of a F-4G in Osprey's Combat Aircraft #26, where you can't see any squadron identifier on the Phantom, but it's still labeled as a VF-213 bird.

gustav, according to Spirit in theSkies 2 of the naval F-4Gs were assigned to NATC and the other 10 to VF-213. they were to be redesignated VF-116 but those orders were countermanded quickly tho not before a few jets were painted as such. cant find any record of a green VF-121 F-4G in my references. the NATC birds werent even painted green. hope that helps ya

Remember, alt+d (twice) for removing displays panels, white triangle and target square.
