Must have mods for the SF2 series.....Anyone?

Hey Guys,

I know alot of you guys have more experience with this game then me so I thought I would take a leap of faith here and ask about addon mods. I have all of the SF2 series games and expansions. What I would like to know is, Can you guys give me a list of must have mods to add to the game. I would like to compile a list so that way in the future any new pilots can see my post and it will help take some of the guessing out of the work. You guys have the experience with these mods, can you please give me your input on what you think is a must have mod....

 

Anything from pilot addons to weapon packs to sun, moon, sky and any of the SF1 series to that work in SF2....ect etc.

 

My system specs:

Asus P5Q motherboard

Duel Core Quad 2.8 Ghz process.

4 gigs of 1066 DDR ram

GTX280 video

Creative Sound blaster Xi Fi Extreme sound card

First, get the Vietnam Ground War Expansion for SF2V. Then, get the NATO Fighters 4+ for SF2E, but be careful with adding the Lightning 6 and the Firestreak and Redtop missiles - they will conflict with Exp 2's versions of the same thing. As for individual add-on aircraft, I would recommend the A-4m, A-5A/RA-5C, AV-8B Day Attack, F-101A/B/C, and the MG-21 Cockpits 1.7.

I recommend the AFX mod as well as its variant pak as it has a good futuristic pit and sound. Handles quite well. Check my pics in the screenshot thread. Also, razbam skyraider and banshee. You would have to tweak the props and canopies possibly and set your settings to unlimited until razbam released a conversion. His f-102 is good and he mentioned to me he is releasing his A-7 pak from FSX to sf2. See thread here under razbam. Only downside is ya gotta pay money. But well worth it.

By the way, before intalling all those awesome mods, I'll wait for next official patch, and new fixes for the big mods (NATO, Vietnam, 48-56 wars) because Expansion pack 2 have done some changes affecting some mods (effects, propellers, some weapons, etc)

what about going the other way and telling us first what you think is missing, or may be improved, from your game for you to have fun?

 

That way, the local experten may formulate pinpointed advices.

 

To say it with another words, I'm not convinced that there are mods that you really must have to have fun. On the other hand, there are very well crafted mods around, certainly those suggested by the other posters, but there are so much mods available that if you don't wanna spend days installing them, you have first to ask yourself what you wanna improve, in my humble opinion, of course.

 

 

If you are already satisfied with your game but that you want write somekind of a mod guide for the greenhorns, I would suggest to elaborate it like a flowchart.

Stary's upgraded Israel Terrain is stunning.

Also I've been having a lot of fun recently with Guyran's Six Day War and Yom Kippur War campaigns, that let you fly for the Arab side.

The Migs are great fun to fly, and it's a good way of discovering the capabilities and limitations of aircraft you'll tend to be flying against in other campaigns.

I'm really surprised no one has mentioned the various and sundry add-on terrains themselves. Great having all the toys, but without the actual playground ... well, you get the idea.

I did this because I for one enjoy spending my time installing all kinds of mods in my games just so I get the most out of them. That's all. Now I have been a member of many forums on Flights simming: Falcon 4, IL2, Janes. etc etc. I am just putting together a basic list of what most guys think are "Must Have Mods". Nothing more and Nothing less. For newer pilots I know that this will be very helpful.

Terrains... One of the best terrains IMO is Formosa (Taiwan) by Gepard, even better with new tileset (by me) and additional fixes by Wrench also try East Africa/Madagascar

 

Oh, and of course The Range for delivery training

 

In fact every terrain by Wrench is worth a try too

You have F-15 Super Pack twice.

 

Also, you might want to be specific as to which F-84 you want. The F-84B,C,D,E,G are undergoing some changes and are not in the F-84F Super Pack.

 

If you want a quick,easy simple mod to install that will educate you on how the file system works, try the Classified Mission Mod. The instructions are easy to understand and have gotten good results by folks new or not very knowledgable on how mods work.

 

Plus, it's a fun little mission, though I'm not sure how it works with the new expansion pack.

Thanks for bringing attention to the mistake **Fixed. Also I know how the mods and file structure works, I just wasn't sure of the correct Folder Structure due to some of the Mod Author's making type errors in their Readme files included in their downloads.

My A/F-24 and especially my North Dakota tanker. It replaces the stock cargoship with a much nicer model. Also F4D Skyray if you like teh early jets.
