Marcelo's is the Kiev, which is a VTOL-only aviation cruiser. That might be Julhelm's project 1143.7 (Orel).

If that's the case, it's still a WIP.

It's obviously not in the same league as the others in this thread :salute: , but you can always try my recently uploaded stand-in, which can be found here: Kuznetzov

Hey Fubar, Whats the word on the Kiev? About a year ago you were teasing us with some screen shots of it and the Yak 38.... then it just kinda faded away.

The Kiev? It's been relegated to escort duty

Seriusly, I've asked Marcelo's permission to release it as is...we can only wait for his OK.

Since they look very much like E-2, I'd say it's Yak-44

I didn't know the 44 had contrarotating props like the Bear.

IIRC, they only finished one prototype of the '44 before scrapping the project.

Yes indeed it was only a prototype, like many other projects it failed with the SSSR. I think they are considering AN-140 now for that role...

Too bad it's not the real deal, though I really don't missing taking off the LOMAC version...

Make the catapult end position higher than the start position. I have done this for the British carriers and can get the Sea Harriers to fly up and off the ramp pretty accurately.

Hrmm does the slopped ramp deck work?

In a word, no. One can neither set the mesh, nor the cat, to follow the profile of the ramp. If you adjust the catapult end-stroke elevation, the aircraft appear to be jumping several meters off the deck at the begining of the cat shot.

However, MarcFighter's Su-33 is endowed with the ability to get airborne after a short run, making it appear as if it were following the ramp slope angle. 30 knots worth of virtual wind across the bow helps, too

ok, so i guess Im not the only one having a problem setting the collision mesh?

i think i was looking at a ramped deck ship in max one day, and figured, short cat that ends right before the ramp and just have the plane go up and off the ramp, or something like that.

In LOMAC? Oh yeah, you had small retractable chock blocks (for lack of a better term) and you revved up to full 'burner. Then you either hit a button (it's been so long...) or it automatically retracted, and you flew off the deck, watching it go from like 30m to like... 5m depending on your load or whatnot and flew away. Landings I didn't mind but taking off I never did.

A short video I made in order to show off the Ulyanovsk's AAA batteries, which consist of 8 twin AK630 30mm gattling guns (4 Kashtans per side), and two single turrets sporting single AK630s on sposons just forward of the fantail. BTW, the Kashtans also mount 4 SA-19 missiles each.

In real life, the Ulyanovsk was planned to carry 24 navalized SA-11 "Buk" missiles, in VLS tubes.

The gun axis are still a WIP, hence you'll notice an occasional mismatch between barrel positions and gun fire effects.
