Never seen it before. But i posted the screenshot in a german forum. Perhaps one of the old MiG-21 pilots or technicians will answer. I let you know.

The answer came fast. They say:

" Das ist der Hahn für die Luftversorgung der Flugzeugführerkabine. "

which translates into

" This is the lever for the air supply to the aircraft cabin."

Service in the USSR Air Force 1990 :ok:

cool! i think thats brings us to two that served on the "other side"   (not trying to be rude, most of the site member military veterans of that age are from the US/NATO side)

to let you know, its better etiquette when quoting to not include the pic, outside of extreme circumstances

but thank you for the corrections and the labels. its always good to get guidance from those that have been there and done that :ok:

Yes, I understand the nuance, but it is true nonetheless. It is a pleasure to communicate with former "opponents". Those days are long gone... (no politics). I am here for pure motives and interest. Many very good flight simulators (IL-2, LockON/LockON 2, Rise of Flight, DSC World) have Russian origins/Russian developers.
Best wishes to all. (Maybe my English is not very good, I studied it in 89-91 at service)

As a Soviet enthusiast modeler, I am happy to have another team member to correct my mistakes, which, in the end, are going to be beneficial to all of us.

@michaelk I may ping you separately for any help I may need, thank you in advance.

English is not my first language either, but as long as the ideas are understood, we will all be good!

...and just for grins and giggles after FINALLY figuring out how the TOD editor works, I've been looking over the India-Pakistan map, and rearranging the fugly TODs that I've hated from day one!! A major improvement in being able to have building ACTUALLY follow the street grid and not be all over the map (pun intended). Also will let me fix a bunch of things I never go right the 1st time

Ever tought in adding small low poly cars in roads? So they simulate real traffic?

Runs for cover... :stars:

Well, for that, I"d need a Rolls Royce, to leave (abandoned) in the Himilayan foothills, like they did on Top Gear

You can do that. But all TOD objects (houses and cars) must share the same single bmp or jpg file.

It was done in GermanyCE terrain and the result was pretty good.

true, but you have to either add dozens of very small patterns onto one jpg, or dozens of small patterns onto one huge jpg. either way can be time consuming

i am guessing youre talking about Rends Germany not stock

Gepard:vehicle traffic would depend on what your main use of terrain would be. for a future US-Canada war low traffic would be fine. but in and around suburbs and major cities, you'd want alot of traffic if it was peace time or long range war with Russia. take enough vehicles to boggle the European mind, double that then add three.  thats how much you should have on the smaller towns

yes we Americans love our cars  and it would take alot IRL for us to give em up. but i fully understand if you choose nto to populate the terrain with them.

I mean it would be nice, but you're really not flying for the cars. Even in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 I more or less ignore the animated traffic as I'm not driving (I'll drive in A3 though) around the map. But either way I don't really mind it though as I'll be free flying around it sometime.

Yes, Rends Germany IIRC that have buses, trucks and cars. Sorry but I never fully understood TODs so I don't know If my idea is feasible or not.

One problem with TOD per tile is, that the number of TOD, which can placed on one tile, is very limited. Simple X-shape trees you can have around 800 and for simple cuboid shaped houses it are 500. If you use houses with pitched roof then the number is down to 200 or so. This is for detailed populating of a city tile very few.

Only a question. Has someone already made this twin bomb rack?

67bf7b518c06b_BILD15WaffenstationenMiG-23BN.thumb.jpg.c04eb5a8b1be7fc84802c6e83c85b020.jpg

MBD-3-2UT-1  Soviet bomb rack for two 250 or 500 kg bombs. The original pylon had to be removed and was replaced by this rack. It was a time consuming job and thatswhy it was seldom used.
