Is it just me, or is anyone else with ATi cards getting CHOPPY framerates? it starts out smooth as butter...then it slows down-speeds up-slows down I had to revert to Aug 2011 because of that... SidDogg Good that you tell it, then i won´t install Sep11 patch. Which OS are you using and what are your system specs.? Quote

+Sundowner Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 I've got an ATI 4890 at the moment, no issues at all, had lots of ATI cards with no issues, depends what you get used to useing me thinks. Quote
+Brain32 Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 I've got an ATI 4890 at the moment, no issues at all, had lots of ATI cards with no issues, depends what you get used to useing me thinks. I have ATI 4850 same opinion here Quote
Bossco82 Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 I've got an ATi 6970, no issue's whatsoever. Infact SF2 runs much much smoother with this than with my previous Nvidia GTX 470. Also you would be suprised just how much vram a modded install of SF2 will use if its available. 1 Quote
+SidDogg Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 ...oi, wakatta. I have an HD 3650 on Windows Vista, so..... ....must be the rig! Been needing a new one, anyway SidDogg Quote
Bossco82 Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 Hi SidDogg, From your description of the symptoms if its smooth but then choppy then smooth again I don't think it would be a coding/driver issue. Sounds like somethings getting too hot or maybe getting a little old. Cheers Quote
+Dave Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 Instructions for ATI cards, 1. Open package 2. Drop directly in toliet 3. Flush..... Quote
Slartibartfast Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 Instructions for ATI cards, 1. Open package 2. Drop directly in toliet 3. Flush..... Thats what I did with the last NVidia card I bought... damn thing was useless... seriously I reinstalled my old card and took it back to the shop and bought a new ATI Card which worked perfectly... As they say Horses for Courses on what you prefer Quote
+Brain32 Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 Price/performance is all I'm looking at and last time, nVidia lost. Sure most games theese days are written for nVidia, but with the amount of money you need to shell out for a decent nVidia(because games still work like crap on low end ones ofcourse) I can have two kick-ass ATI's in crossfire...atleast that's the way prices are here Quote
Bossco82 Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 To be honest I was an Nvidia faithfull. A few years ago I was dissapointed with a 512mb Ati 3850. I replaced this with a Nvidia 1gb GTS 250, then chasing more performance a GTX 260, a GTX 280 then a GTX 470. All of them were superb, then I had two faulty GTX 480's in a row and got put off. So I tried an Ati 2gb 6970, i've been really impressed with it. I really don't think there is much between the new generation of high end graphics card. If I ever wanted to upgrade I would consider either. Quote
Gr.Viper Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 You wouldn't believe how many things can still run on GF 9800. Quote
+SidDogg Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 Instructions for ATI cards, 1. Open package 2. Drop directly in toliet 3. Flush..... ...you folks are too much as you all have CLEARLY seen, my computer has served me well... ...these two and a half years. SidDogg Quote
EricJ Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Dave you're just not SOI enough for this topic... Just ran a CAS mission and looks like my wingnut is banned from LGBs and related ordnance, as he proceeded to just treat them like iron bombs, but he did fire his only Mav, so it's back to giving him the missiles and I use the real stuff... +SkateZilla Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 (edited) gonna test my brother's system now.. Edit: Everything Maxed, still pegged at 60Fr/sec (vSync). however, I did have a dip to 17 somewhere according to debug screen, i didnt notice it, might been when I ATL+N'd into the combat zone,, even still, it never did that before, His system kept the game at 60 Frames/sec regardless... so it dipped with Sept.
