Squid: First of all, I think we will be attacking Iceland, so there will prob be WP targets on the ground.

Also, last time I checked that dastardly file, there was Forgers in it ;-)

Carrier Vs Carrier (+ strategic birds)? hmmm why not ... maybe called to protect iceland and/or UK ?

btw i think NA might probably open the path to "Gen III" Cold War level, Hornets (alongside tomcats, corsairs, phantoms on yankee carriers) , later block vipers, Fulcrum & Flanker ? (hehe)

"Once upon a time the Soviets launched a massive offensive in Europe..."

Why this line I associated with "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..."

anyway

I started thinking about these big hunky A-S missiles under red birds. If I'm not mistaken next TK addon after Tomcat game will be Mirage F1... and his one of the main weapon is (was?) Exocet right? Soooo...

oh it could be still just my wild conjecture

If just the half of all those ships in the ground object list will be available. It will imply that quite a lot of Naval operations will occur. Maybe we will see a true carrier task force with the escorting ships. This will be a true breakthrough in this series and highly usable for us modders. At least the KAW mod will benefit from this if thats the case.

TK has stated he rather makes older jets then new ones, but that the general public (i.g his custumers) does not agree with him. However, I doubt he will make a Hornet for some time. The Avionics must be a nightmare... (guesswork)

If naval forces are simplified and can combat eachother, TSF will also benefit :D

beyond 80s? Not this company if ou ask me... there's no real competitor in the 50-80 (if we stretch it a bit) for TK, no point for him to go into Gen 4th

I agree. From the recent expansion packs it looks more like his is going more in the 50's direction. He added rockets A2A capable. Given us Mustangs, Spitfire's, Flora's F-100A/C and Meteors just to mention a few. Personal it suits me fine because I love this era the most.. I rarely fly later than the 1970's anyway

but 80s saw F/A-18A (& C) , F-16C (block 25/30), (F-15C?) Fulcrums and Flankers fully operational  ....

Many other games have those aircraft. What games have the F-100D Super Sabre and Hawker Hunter? ;-)

Problem with modern (Gen 4 and newer) fighters is those require new avionics.dll, also having Thirdwire's Hornet, F-15C or Viper 10+ would automatically require the complexity of avionics to go more towards Flamming Cliffs 2, which is in fact quite "lite" or survey compared to DCS series, but still involves next level of switchology from player than SF series.

And that's something TK simply doesn't want

i will scold him  he can do both time directions in parallel  he made one huge avionics step which initiated the most popularity i think with WOE and A-10 / F-15 (and completed with Israel and F-16). For me thats actually steping already for long time now deep in the main 80s cold war period very very close to Hornet, C Viper, Fulcrum & Flanker early days. It doesnt have to go beyond that. If he would upgrade avionics to some basic demands and to be able to include alpha Hornet , (which means also eg charlie Viper) that could perfectly model completely ( within the SF spirit ) the 80s-90s bubble - not much changed till now yet really except stealth anyways  (wishful thinking lol)

Too much Wishful thinking, Squid. TK has found his nishe and sticking to it. Loads of stuff he wants to do before even considering going late80s/90s

Not enough money nor staff.

can we just sit down and patiently wait for F-14A Tomcat... you know, another title from Thirdwire that's in the making...

Not many at all. actually none for some. Hornet nada. F-16 only Falcon 4 which is a no go for majority of people (including me) even in current BMS breakthrough. Fulcrum and Flanker i admit ofcourse are WONDERFULY offered by Flaming Cliffs, but since even the current SF2 status of avionics could perfectly model those two so why not ? (one day) (i have to admit though that i cant think what more i could ask from TW comparing with the current 3d party addons for those two .... wonderful work guys)

Not all of them mate. I like the Third Wire era as it is and would only wish to go back to 1950 (or 1945) than go forward from 1982. The glass cockpit era leaves me cold...

personally i really like it all ....

will wet my pants if i see a TK Korea ..... same too when i will see a Reds title .... and i adore the century fighters era

But i cant escape the strong attraction of either the era i grew up in .... Tomcats, Hornets, Harriers, Jaguars, Tornados, Vipers, Mirages, the "mystery" and well hidden Fulcrums & Flankers ....

i can't really grasp monogamy

Yep, TK's genius was middle Cold War, jets you couldn't see anything out of (lol almost anyways). For some reason he had to go "F-15" on us, like Oleg had to go P-51Dora which just copy~pastes the Microsoft games. TK and Oleg seemed to have somewhat forgotten their roots.

My rule for a combat flight jet TheSim::

No HUD.

No MFD.

Poor cockpit visiblility.

Only a few minutes in afterburner

NO GUNS (...just kidding lol)

etc... all :good:

I'm convinced it will happen after the next flurry of activity (SFTuna and F-1). The Thunderstreak, Meteor and Mustang were a massive lurch in that direction and I can see us all sticking chewing gum on the inside of the windscreen...

Well thats just dandy isnt it. I was one the phone with one of CA's members last night and he brought up a good point. If TK was to fold up shop and leave now, we would still keep going. If CA was to fold shop his fan base and word of mouth would drop off then his sale would tank. This site gets 90% of its traffic for the SF1/2 series, which in turn has generated money for TK. How many newbies have came here asking about the games etc and we send them to Thirdwire to get them. We have been free advertising for them for years. What really pisses me off is that we can't even get TK to stop in and say hi, we wanted to do an interview, nada. But the first time we or I say something against the grain, DanW leaves. Here is the kicker, all this talk about this new game on this site is going to to get TK sales anyway. There is no two way street for him at all. There is no scratch his back and I'll scratch yours. All we want is a little communication, does this game progress, does the game have this type of avionics, how will the AI handle jamming and AWACs with the aircraft we have seen? People are tired of getting the same thing. That is why I for example havent been doing much, I'm bored with the game. We are working on the Vipers but I can't get motivated for anything new. Sundowner is another example, he is burned out. ST0RM is the same. I can list more. Yes I want his game to do good, just what's new? Why should we tell people to buy it? I know him and DanW look at the site and I know they are watching this thread. Now TK does not have to say anything at all, that is his right. However A site that spends about $11,000 a year to run and generates money from the fan base should get some common courtesy from the person who the site is mostly built around.

It would be nice indeed. BUT to make a good Korea he will need a lot more of new aircrafts.. Trust me I know how many new aircraft a KAW tittle requires
