+JonathanRL Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 The Pacific Incident View File The Pacific Incident Mod for SF2: North Atlantic IMPORTANT: This mod is made with some surprise in mind. If you do not wish to be spoiled, do not read the Credits (Under the Folder "SPOILER") until after you have played the mod. Also, you should refrain from observing the support thread as this is the official discussion thread with spoilers At the first of August, 1980, the USS Nimitz departs from Pearl Harbour with a small escort group. As bad weather looms on the horizon, the escorts are detached and sent back to Pearl. As the Nimitz sails head first into the storm, they discover a phenomena - a giant vortex - that nobody have ever seen before. It affects the crew, and the ship in a mysterious way. As the crew wakes up, shaken and disturbed by the recent event, they know that their duty is to defend the United States in the past, present and the future... Installation: Unzip into your Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 NorthAtlantic folder. Allow any overwrites. Please note: The Terrain is very unoptimized since TK did not leave any instructions for Stary. As such, even the heaviest computers can have some issues with the endless water (for some reason). Setting Terrain Detail and Terrain Texture to Low will fix this and allow good FPS. Enjoy! Submitter JonathanRL Submitted 07/09/2012 Category User Made Campaigns 1

+JonathanRL Posted July 9, 2012 Author Posted July 9, 2012 Great. Everybody is here for the Polka Hint. Play the Campaign and find out if your guess is correct instead of sitting in a finnish bar listening to Polka Covers! Aw, who am I kidding. SKÅL!
ataribaby Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 (edited) Holly cow! Small suggestion: Loved that Final Countdown flick as kid to death as i am true 80's cold war child :) Back to suggestion... It will be possible to add WW2 pilot? It bit kills immersion to see modern guys there. Found: http://combatace.com/files/file/13019-wwii-japanese-pilots/ [/spoliler] Thanks for epic idea! Very refreshing and finaly campaing where i can win. Edited July 9, 2012 by ataribaby
+JonathanRL Posted July 9, 2012 Author Posted July 9, 2012 Ooops, Atari. Minor oversight. I might put together a patch tomorrow and I will add that to the list. Another oversight is that the Corsair is not preforming its secondary roles.
EricJ Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Ran fine with my laptop, we on a posting restriction for a bit?
Wrench Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 jonathon: check PM. a note about some skins you might want to use
+JonathanRL Posted July 10, 2012 Author Posted July 10, 2012 Ran fine with my laptop, we on a posting restriction for a bit? No. The support thread is clearly marked as may contain spoilers :D So feel free to discuss the mod here :)
+Stary Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 So far it's easy on Normal, no one came even closer than few miles...
+JonathanRL Posted July 10, 2012 Author Posted July 10, 2012 (edited) Right, patch 1.1 included in package that I just sent for approval. - Made the Nimitz slightly easier to spot for the Opposition. - Added more of the Opposition. - Added Geos Enemy Pilot - Added Wrenchs Skins suitable for the occasion. Rivet counters, have a field day. - Removed parking spaces from hidden airstrips, so no more Intruders in the middle of the ocean. To include these changes, you have to RE-DOWNLOAD THE ENTIRE; GIGANTIC; 15 MB PACKAGE! The horror, indeed! Edited July 10, 2012 by JonathanRL 1
+Stary Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 15 MB??!! Oh noes! heh I wonder how many remember times when one had to download thrilling whole 3 MB WADs for Doom2
Wrench Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 gads, in the days of 56baud phone modems....i remember them (and probably have those wads archived on a zip-disc someplace!)
ataribaby Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Thanks for update. Polishing my F-14 HUD glass... Sure i give em chance... guns only :p
+dtmdragon Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 (edited) Nice work, I quite enjoyed playing something a bit different from the usual SF2. Edited July 10, 2012 by dtmdragon
+allenjb42 Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 These might come in useful. Jonathan if you want to use them in a future update please feel free. They were free downloads from the music company's website so there should be no sharing issues. MainScreen.wav SingleMissionScreen.wav
+JonathanRL Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 Sorry Allen, but I flatly decided against it. The point is that the player is not supposed to know what they are facing ;-)
+JonathanRL Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 A Patch 1.2 will probably be released when Cliff11 releases his new FMs. I tested one of them five minutes ago, and the result was nasty. I had three of them on my tail within a minute, something that has never happened before.
MURc Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 ok don't want to reveal much but Im flying TARPS recon second time now...dos it have a official ending or I will have to fly TRAPS till the end of the days :)
