Well not to worry Viggen I have 4 iran Iraq Campaigns already!

1- Project Dark Gene/Project Ibex- A long running low intensity campaign meant to be a semi fictional scenario of 1970-1979 border skirmishes with Iraq as well as Classified USAF and CIA recon flights over the Soviet Union for probing air defenses... Because the terrain doesnt encompass the Southern Border of the Soviet Union I simply pivoted the operation 90 degrees to Northern Iraq with Soviet interceptors

2- Iraqi Invasion of Iran, surprise attack low supply levels for Iran low replacement times on ground units, aircraft and weapons lasts till 1982

3- War of the Cities/Tanker War- LOTS of interdiction type missions hitting SCUDs, Oil Terminals, oil fields, lots of anti shipping missions.  Iran is better supplied with a new Squadron of F-4D's bought from South Korea, weapon/aircraft replacement is higher but a lack of pilots.  Ground war is a stalemate.  (Contemplating adding a squadron of Saudi F-15s as a surprise addition for interceptions only. 1982-1987

4- End Game (Not sure what to name this one)- Iranian units reenergized for large offensive to end the war.  Iraqi forces are depleted after losing a lot of soviet support.  Su-24's introduced to Iraqi airforce

And the full war also, I hope? :)

Unfortunately Centurion-1's project went dark, he was working on a 32 strategic node ground war. Spudknocker built another mod package using these new terrains as a base. So simply enjoy what we'll have to offer. Besides, I hope that once the terrains get released, we'll see updated versions of Operation Desert Storm, Operation Darius and maybe for the first time a campaign based on Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Hi, Stratos! Believe me, there is no such thing as fast terrain making. You're talking to the guy who spent almost three years on a small terrain (it's not even real size, it's like stock TW's terrains). Of course, I spent most of the time researching details, targets locations, and hand-tiling the whole Mesopotamia with rivers, lakes and so on. I think you all we'll be impressed with the results. I used satellite images as reference during all the development. If you're not seeking ultra-accuracy, especially with rivers and lakes, you can gain quite some time for targets placement and so on.

I only wish that the terrain could get a better tileset complete with new TODs once it is released. Some magic from Stary or other artists here would make the terrain really shine. Creating good-looking tilesets and TODs is also very time consuming.

Out of curiosity, IIRC, Stratos you were working together with Centurion-1 on a beatiful terrain representing Ecuador and Peru, a long time ago. Such a pity Centurion-1 is no longer active, he had so many interesting mods for SF2. But RL comes first, I hope he's well and all.

Really? Sounds like we could form a team to complete it in the future, but I'd wait to hear if it's okay with him.

Regarding Centurion I think we're in the exact same position as with Namibia/Angola terrain, so I will go forward, respecting credits, but forward without Centurion, I've tried to contact him during years without luck.

I will like to complete that theatre too, that's for sure. BUT I need to targetize my Syrian mod of Anatolia map first.

Hey Stratos do you want to PM me a copy of the Peru map? I can hopefully help out with finishing it off like I did with Angola!

We may have something for Perú, please don´t take it wrong, between all the ideas we have, details, RL, makes us to slow the release, in some cases we are waiting for just small stuff, in others, whole pits, but we promise something good, well researched at the end, i leave you some of the schemes we have for the Fitter F:

Stratos, do you have anything relative to Centurion-1's Iran-Iraq war mod too? He made various aircraft skins, terrain tiles, etc.

True, we can make it. To make a good terrain takes time of course. It will be worth the wait. I'd like to help with it as well, but not now, as I am busy with the Iraqi terrain instead. Maybe in the next month I'll find some time for it, i'd really like to contribute. BTW, in order not to hijack this thread about Iraq/Iran, let's revive this old one about Cenepa: http://combatace.com/topic/84630-equadorperu-terrain-project-wip-input-wanted-from-terrain-gurus/

Looking forward to any news about it there!

Okay, terrain preparations are complete. First terrain you'll be able to play will be part of Spudknocker's Iran/Iraq war mod package.  My standalone releases will follow in the coming weeks.

@Wrench, before I give Spudknocker the green light, I want to check if it's okay with you that I include your old ReadMe files from the IR and IR2003 terrains together with my own ReadMe. Especially because I might forget in the credits someone whose work has been included indirectly in my reworked terrain. Although the terrain is pretty much 99% new, few target layouts may be your work too, so I'll wait for your permission.

Great job with mapping and detil people. Still waiting for the campaigns. Also i found out there was also a Greece-Anatolia map readily available. I grew up in Turkey and remember the 1996 crisis, which almost caused a war. If someone is willing to make a fictional campaign or a Historic/Semi-Historic 1974  Cyprus campaign i can be of help on the historical research side

      Hi,
a couple of months ago i discovered this gorgeous total conversion called "Yankee Air Pirate", and that the "REVAMP" edition for SF2 (the original one was for WOV) existed, and other awesome total conversions like "Drug Wars" and "Flight School" too, so i got ready to download them, but since i hadn't enough space at the time, i waited.
Now i come back on the website to find out all the links and pages about the revamp are gone, there's only the original ones for SF1 series.
Do anyone of you know why they're gone? Will they come back? They're maybe updating the mods?
      Thanks

      Notes about the installer
Beware, the mod is available only in the ISO format. You can either mount it on a virtual drive, burn it on a DVD like in the good old days, or unzip it with 7-Zip or equivalent software.
The installer will automatically detect your installation of the required Strike Fighters 2 games by reading through the registry keys. Game folders that are copied from or manually moved from where they were originally installed are not supported. You need all three aforementioned Strike Fighters 2 games and they must be installed with ThirdWire's original installers, not manually copied from other sources nor moved elsewhere after installation to other folders or drives. If you do not meet any of these requirements, installation cannot proceed and you are on your own. If you install all required games properly, the installation of the mod will proceed correctly as intended. The installer then lets you choose where to install the mod folder; you can even install the mod on a different drive or partition than the one where Strike Fighters 2 is installed. No further user input nor manual edits after installation are ever required; the installer takes care of creating all proper links to your desired path for the mod folder. After installation is over, simply run the mod by using the created Desktop and/or Start Menu links.
If you have a previous version of the mod installed, please use the uninstaller to remove it completely. Clean installation is mandatory. You might want to make a backup of the Controls folder, so that you can easily restore your controller settings afterwards.

      Suggestions on common issues
Make sure that you are using your dedicated GPU. By default, Strike Fighters 2 usually selects the integrated GPU you may have on your CPU, which is much weaker in terms of VRAM. In case you have frequent crashes or black/missing textures, I highly suggest you download and install the DXVK graphics wrapper (x86 DLLs) into your Strike Fighters 2 game folder: https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk. You need a Vulkan-compatible GPU. The wrapper can greatly improve the experience with the mod. With DXVK I can play the mod on a mere Intel UHD 710, whereas without it the mod would always crash to desktop. Go to Sound and set Sound Channels to 32. We got reports that 16 is not enough and will cause crashes on some systems, due to the higher quality sounds included within the mod. The mod is pretty heavy for the game engine despite huge optimizations. Strike Fighters 2's engine is 32bit only and apparently does not manage VRAM properly; consecutive campaign missions might show black/missing textures on objects or cause crashes to desktop because the game does not release the occupied VRAM from the previous mission you played, thus the more missions are loaded consecutively, the more easily you may run out of memory. Set Ground Objects to Medium or Low, Horizon Distance to Near, and Shadows to Medium or Low. These are the most troubling settings. Avoid Unlimited settings as much as possible. If the mod used to work and suddenly crashes to desktop, updating or reinstalling video drivers should help. Make sure that DirectX June 2010 Redistributables are also installed, they are included inside the ISO disk image of the mod. Inside the mod folder, you'll find some extra text files. "(Coalition Order of Battle)" should be of your interest; the mod's terrain covers the entirety of Iraq, at the cost of not having all of Saudi Arabia; this means that a number of important units are based on airbases that are beyond the in-game playable area. With those units you always spawn near the target area, you'll never get to start from a runway nor to land on the assigned runway beyond the invisible wall. You have an entire list of the affected units in the aforementioned text file. By pressing ALT+N, the plane returns to base automatically. The mod is fully compatible with the Campaign Customizer and Mission Editor DLCs by ThirdWire. The Campaign Customizer might be an alternative way to experience those off map units I mentioned previously, since it assigns you to a random airbase of the in-game flyable area. Escort missions are often broken, this is not an issue of the mod, but a bug of the stock game; sometimes the AI flight you escort does not engage its target and keeps flying in a straight line instead of following waypoints, thus the trigger for mission success will never happen. Abandon the mission or retry it if the issue happens, sometimes it works. Pray for ThirdWire AKA Tsuyoshi Kawahito to work on a 64bit version of Strike Fighters 2, maybe even with support for DirectX 12. With that done, any out of memory issues should become an old memory. Can anyone help me with this campaign for ICELAND02 V2?
I took an existing Campaign for ICelandNA, edited all the bases to existing bases in ICELAND02, changed the strategic points too, to the same or similar locations on both maps, but when I go to start it, the aircraft/squadron I chose is run over and the game puts me in a random Hawkeye.
Before I changed all the bases, etc., effectively converting one terrain to another, just changing the terrain from one to another, the campaign started normally without any problems regarding the aircraft/squadron I chose, the only problem was that after a single mission the campaign ended. , saying that the strategic objectives had been achieved.

I've attached the files below, if anyone can test them and eventually help me, that would be cool.
If there is a campaign already made for ICELAND02 V2 and someone has it, I would also be grateful.

      Hi everyone,
I was wondering how to customize the numbers after your callsigns, since it always gives me the same ones.
I think i managed somehow once, a bit of time ago, but now i forgot and have no idea how to.
I'm not talking about how to customize the callsign name, but the unit number after it.
As you can see in the Roster and in the picture under, i get "Fast Eagle 1-1" and "Fast Eagle 1-2"
      Here are some examples:

The numbers on the tail, wing and nose numbers are customized, cause i managed how to change them, choosing them individually for each unit in the mission file by changing "AircraftNumber=" and typing the number, like "2" (as for 202). It doesn't change by typing the whole number tho, like 202 by typing 202, but it goes by typing the number that corresponds to the list of numbers you have. For example, In a list that goes from 200 to 400, you will have to type 10 to get 300. Here i just typed "2" and "7" since the list starts from 200

IIRC, in the past i just used to type the Aircaft number just like that, and in-game i had the proper number after the callsign, like "Fast Eagle 102", not just the number displayed on the plane livery.
How do i do? I'm pretty sure that it's possible to have "Fast Eagle 102" on my screen HUD and in the Roster
Thanks in advance for helping me.
