I played yesterday, no problems. I played today and CTD after initializating screen. No error, simply CTD, only difference is a new Harrier skin. BUT all my installs CTD no matter what, and I tried to rinstall and play without mods. Same CTD. Any idea?

Thanks.

Happened to me once, only thing I could do was to do a fresh installation of all SF2* and mods. Quite frustating...

Did you try moving your mod folder to a different location and start up any of the titles and let the game build a fresh mod folder?

Yes. Same CTD.

Hello Stratos,

Did you install Windows updates ?

Or new anti virus definitions  ?

Could you open event viewer. (enter eventvwr.exe in start run.)

And look under Windows logs \ application.

Is there anything regarding stike fighters 2.

I'm on a desktop. I'm trying restoring a old config, I doubt it will work, BUT it says Windows updated DirectX. Any idea of how I can proceed?

Stratos, is this the same issue you had in october 2013? An antivirus parameter?

No AFAIK, I cannot enter any menu, simply CTD at start.

Have you force dx9 enabled?...mebbe dx update now doesnt support dx9 ?  just a thought

No idea of how I could have done that.

Stratos, create a new user account on your computer.

Log on with the new account. And try to start strike fighters 2.

And dit you find anything in the eventviewer log files ?

Good to hear it's working.

consider to stop using avast, if it gives you such a hard time.

I'am using microsoft security essentials, and never have any problems.

It's a free anti virus software from microsoft.

Last time I send a letter to Avast telling the problem after a recommendation from Wrench, never got a answer. Maybe youre right and is time to move.

I have the same problem too with too installs, one on Windows 7 the other in Windows 8.

On both problem appeared with last updates two days ago.

As I use Avast also, I got it desactivated, no joy!

On TW forum, two users exposed the same problem yesterday with no answer from TW for the time being.

I got stung the last time with avast ....... But when it screwed my SF install then I was done, to be honest it used to be a great antivirus option but it was get bigger and badder with every update ...... Do yourself a big favour and get rid of it

I am also now using MS essentials and it is really great ..... No hassles , never gets in my way, and the price is right.

I've been using MS Security Essentials for about 2 years, and it works fine. Free to d/l , free updates, and it don't interfere with anything.

Ditch Avast; give them the one finger salute

Do you have Avast? If yes check the quarentine chest and or add a exception to the Thirdwire folder. Best thing will be to erase Avast and install something else.

I am very sorry all your installs have STD's.  You really need to sit down with your SF2 install talk about safe sex.
