Hey all!  I was wondering why the number four wingman (1-4) seems to never do anything, Is this due to the nation training level?  Seems to be more pronounced when flying for countries other than the USAF or USN.  Does anyone have a way to actually get Mr. 1-4 to drop his bombs or fire his missiles?

Same Problem here. I am ordering my wingman (1-2) to engage and he does. When askin to flight 2 (1-3 and 1-4), only the 1-3 know what to do. Usually the 1-4 only follow the 1-3.

 

The only thing i saw over time, is that 1-4 will engage if 1-3 have been put out of combat (destroyed).

It also depends on the skill level setting that you use for your flight, and for the enemy.  I set the skill levels of my aircraft FMs to a minimum of "veteran".  That helps, but does not completely resolve the issue. Likewise, running into an enemy flight that is setup that way can be a bit exciting  :biggrin:

1-4 will engage if 1-3 is out of ammo usually. Thats for ground role.

But.

Sometimes when am single mission with some ground attack (usually cobra in Nam or Israel) am giving order to flight 2 -attk my target, and .....suprise both 1-3 and 1-4 are attacking. But sometimes only 1-3 and 1-4 will attack when 1-3 is out of ammo again.

So...i don't care anymore. I'm just giving them orders and keepin eye on them so so whole flight will get back home.

But i remember some custom campaign I played before in VooDoo. And I always assigned some skilled pilot to 4th aircraft. And during combat 1-4 was also engaging enemy.

So again confused.

oh ok how do I set all my flights to veteran?

 

It's an entry that has to be added to the "AIDATA" section of each and every flight model, like so:

MinAIQuality=Veteran
MaxAIQuality=Ace

I quite seldomly see 1-4 doing something useful. Be it A2G or A2A. It seems to cover 1-3 and acts when he is gone. 

1-2 and 1-3 should definitely be active, though.
