I'm working on the big french base of Creil. And i found a little problem, when i checked out the base by sat pictures.

Creil.thumb.jpg.87da439bd92588af48e037c5871a2cbb.jpg

I If you look to the lower left side you see two buildings, which are forming a SS rune. I don't know, whether it are old buildings from the time of german occupation or the French did not realize what they have built. If i would place this buildings in that shape into the terrain, i would violate german laws.

Aerodom Creil, as could have been in the 1960th. (Parking planes are not yet at their correct positions.)

Google Earth gives sat pictures from 1985, which is washed, and then from mid 1990th. So i had to guess which dispersal areas would have been active in the 1960th.

This constructions are by purpose, or just by coincidence? Because if the german law don´t make this distinction, and ban everything who resemble something, its a problem, I imagine...

Paris Orly (WIP), run- and taxiway layout made after an air photo from 1956.

img00252.thumb.JPG.2604b0b684369fa5661a8a5ebf620ec6.JPG

I had to make the airport a little bit smaller, so that it fit into the 2 x 2 km tile.

what we really need are static model of aircraft to add to the airports. They can be 'date stamped' to start like their real world counterparts. And other birds, too. Expecially on the Red Side -- static transports, helos, civil birds. etc

Boeing 707, 727 and Caravelle would be welcome. A 747 i already have, but it does not fit in the timeframe of the terrain.

707 I got DC-8 also

I agree, a 727 and Caravelle would be nice  im guessing your time frame is outside the service of the A310 though

Yes, Airbus is outside the timeframe. I make the terrain for the 1960th. After the experiences of 6-days-War in 1967 nearly all european nations added hardened shelters to their airfields in the 1970th. For the timeframe of 1970th and 80th an other rebuilt of the terrain would be neccessary.

Aerodrom Guyancourt, a smaller airfield with two parallel runways. Civil used.

Not possible to downgrade the existing airliners to static objects?

If the original authors of the various civvy airliners available for SF2 would be okay with sharing the max source files with me (not to be distributed any further), I would gladly convert them to static terrain object LODs, this is something I have been hoping to do for a while.

No it is not possible. The center of the LOD is different for static planes and flyable planes. If you use a flyable plane, like the Boeing 707, as static model, it will look in game as it would be half sunken in the soil.

What Gepard meant is that there are different requirements for it to be a static model, not that it wasn't possible.

I mean you must convert the LOD file by editing the center in the MAX file. So you can make a flyable plane to a static plane. You cant use one LOD for both, static and flying.

Does someone know whether we have a british Marconi Type 80 radar anywhere? I need it to replace the old WW2 radar net with a british radar of the 1960th timeframe.
