Posting what we all wish for isn't going to magically bring back TK and his interest in this game. I mean other than a project I working with Soulfreak and Co, I have little interest in the game anymore, or at least selective interest anyway. I mean there's just no indication that TK is going to work on this and maybe an SF3, or improve SF2...

So there you go Wrench, somebody did something about it.

SF2 only needs a couple of upgrades to be more competitive: native VR support and cockpit 3d model/texture upgrades for VR. SF2's lower gpu/cpu requirements run wildly fast in VR when you can get it to work using VorpX. The cost of upgrading the cockpits of so many aircraft variants to decent VR standards for a 360 degree view would be quite high. After spending all the time and money, how many people would buy it? The fact is that what is left of the jet combat sim market is dominated by DCS World. DCS has made great strides in covering jet fighters previously only flyable in the SF series. SF2 still has an overwhelming large set of aircraft, terrains, and historical campaigns which can be played on much less expensive hardware than DCS, but not enough people bought it when it was originally released and it will never get any useful number of sales in the future. I gave up on SF2 when TK did. In a very short time frame, DCS added the MiG-21bis, UH-1H, F-86F, MiG-15bis, and F-5E which sold me on migrating to DCS. The addition of the AJS-37 Viggen, AV-8B, F-14A/B, MiG-19P, Mirage F1, and advent of VR sealed the deal. DCS is still growing/improving. SF2 is still stuck with a late 90s terrain engine, no multiplayer, and no VR.

ya know, this just seems to be a trend of the world at large any more

"i wish x would happen"

well, the folks that can make it happen arent doing so. so ya either gotta change it yourself or adapt and accept what is.

in this instance, TK hasnt had interest in changing SF2 since July 2013 (over 11 years). not too many people come back to a relationship with anything after that long

so as i've said for a long time, its the modders that still have interest that keep it relevant

side note for the old timers that have been modding/skinning since the last patch

i for one dont want a new patch. pretty sure it'll break my mods

@PJB TK screwed modders here when he locked up the .lods AND .vfx files because of an CIV3 asshole stole Thirdwire .lods by claiming they're his. Since then TK hated modders as a whole. Before all of that, TK was in favor of modding.

I still think SF2 with its many mods is still a worthy historical combat flight sim. I'm not going to get into why I am not as enamored with DCS as others. To each their own and YMMV.

I don't have ONE favorite sim. I still fly Janes F-15 and F/A-18. Hell, I still fly Microprose Strike Eagle II and F-117. I'm also a big fan of Falcon 4 BMS.

I still fly IL-2 1946 and CFS3 for my WWII fix.

I feel bad TK decided to move on. On the the hand that is the perfect definition of a "champagne problem". My life or the world is not going to end for lack of a flight simulator.

i also fly falcon BMS flaming cliffs 3 and il2 sturmovik bat mod but strike fighters has its own charm so its my dream to see SF3 in a total new look and graphics it should touch flaming cliffs 3 quality

I am working on the SF3 project and have created a new folder in the UE5 engine.

The only problem is that I am short of 3 million in funding. Can anyone tell me how to get it other than looting the First World Bank?

either

release a series of deceptively named Onlyfans videos (with subject matter like a kitten playing with a banana on a string, or someone moving a golf ball with only their breath)

or

say something really dumb online and become famous

one last option would be to somehow get Henry Cavill into SF2 modding. we get him hooked, he's enough of a nerd to want to see it progress and rich enough to fund that progress. but first i think you gotta lure him away from Warhammer.....

Yeah good luck with that. He's a gamer though, so if you get a hold of him, let us know and we can flood him with vids and stuff, and get him hooked, then throw in the "SF2 is dying, PJB needs SF3, and we'll need some money." Gotta stretch it out though so he doesn't become aware of our plan until it's too late.

I don't know about that, he was just acting. But yes he isn't stupid. Maybe if we keep him away from here he won't find out...

You can consider imitating what some Chinese democrats are doing now: issuing virtual currency, maybe we can call it Simon Miller Coin:lol:

Simon will make his Onlyfans and after a few days you will see that it is unnecessary to spend money on a simulator when you can enjoy life...

I don't know,  nothing against him, but I don't want to lose my life savings over a volatile currency anyway.

Maybe I should explain that, there are many people in the Chinese Twitter community who are against the current regime. Some people use democracy as a means to make money, or more precisely, to defraud others of their money. Issuing virtual currency is one of the means to defraud money. Recently, a well-known person who opposes the CCP issued virtual currency to make money, which was considered a fraud by many people. I was just joking with Simon Miller.

I see, no worries though. I've read a book on crypto, but even then I don't think it's a safe bet either way. Yeah some people probably do good with it, but no thanks, and understand.

I absolutely agree that virtual currency is a complete scam. We should not use money for gambling. Virtual currency is different from stocks and futures. It is a kind of gambling. Stocks and futures have great risks, and the risks of virtual currency are even greater. I will only keep my salary in a bank account. Although compared with Western countries, our Chinese salary is pitifully low.

I'm sorry to hear that. Yeah that book I read tried to explain how it works, and it furthered my knowledge a bit, but I agree, it's too volatile to mess with. The most recent example being the Hawk Tuah incident, but yeah I don't blame you and I keep my money in my bank too.

Haha I wish I could share your optimism man, but overall I don't think it'll happen, unless TK changes his mind, but I doubt it.
