23d Wing Pope AFB 1994 In the 1990s, the USAF experimented with composite wings that would have everything needed within a single unit for deployment into a regional fight. The 23 Wing was formed in 1992 to bring about this vision, as applied to direct support of US Army forces. By 1994, 4 squadrons were ready at Pope AFB NC to support the US Army's 82d ABN DIV at neighboring Fort Bragg. The 2d and 41st Airlift Squadrons flying the C-130E Hercules, the 74th Fighter Squadron flying the F-16C/D Block 40 Vipers, and the 75th Fighter Squadron flying the A-10A Warthog. As is tradition for the 23d Wing, which traces its lineage to the Flying Tigers of World War 2, every aircraft in the wing sported a sharks mouth. This mod brings together everything needed to get the 23d Wing into the fight. Complete aircraft (including a newly revamped F-16D Block 40 from ravenclaw007), period specific weapons, sounds and effects. Included Viper Team F-16C Block 40 and 75th FS skin ravenclaw007/Viper Team F-16D Block 40 and 75th FS skin Dels C-130E_SKE with 2d ALS, 41st ALS Grey and 23d Wing Euro 1 skins Various period specific weapons (actively in use 1994-1996) Installation unzip folder * drop into mod folder of your choice * allow overwrites Known Issues The C-130 and its weapons are primarlily eye candy. There are unfortuneatly no paratroop drop missions in SF2, and so if you want to drop say 1/325 INF onto a drop zone, you will need to select a recon mission and punch those partarooper out by hand I have been having issues getting the LAPES Sheridan tank to create a "crater" after dropping. it is still included for the visuals of puching a tank out the back of a Herk, and because there was still an Airborne Armor Bn at Bragg in 1994. I also changed several serials after determining that they were at other bases in 1995. The deduction I used to find the C-130 serials didnt work as well for the Hogs. But it is fixed and I even discovered two Tiger Shark Hogs that were still in Euro 1 camoflage at the time. The A-10A_93 features two skins for the bulk of the gray birds and the two green ones. ************************************************************* This is freeware; it CANNOT be distributed unless permissions are granted by myself. BOEING B-47E STRATOJET by COYOTE AEROSPACE This is a semi historical mod to represent the B-47E through its career as SACs most numerous bomber. It is semi historical because there were so many variations on equipment and markings across 1300+ aircraft over its 12 year career that it is impossible to accurately represent all of them. Instead, all major units that could be represented are (in other skin packs) and the general paint schemes used during the appropriate eras are modded for the forward deployments known as Operation REFLEX. Further, new nuclear weapons have been included. To keep file sizes down somewhat, unit skins will be release by numbered air force and available in the SF2 Skins download section INSTALLATION unzip installation folder cut and paste to desired mods folder allow overwrites (some effects and weapons mainly) IF YOU HAVE THE B28 NUCLEAR WEAPONS ALREADY FROM ANOTHER MOD use caution. I have set the nuclear weapons to a specific station code as NUC. Other mods featuring the B28 weapon do not have this yet, although i intend to do a comprehensive ini edit later this year across many weapons and aircraft INCLUDED B-47E(53) and B-47(57) aircraft Operation Reflex skins, and one unit skin for each aircraft) Period accurate M64 and M65 bombs B28 nuclear weapons, 350Kt and 1.1MT yields new Mk15 and MK39 nuclear weapons, 1.69 and 3MT yields short document on how best to employ the LABS technique in game with MK15 weapon CREDITS veltro2K .......................................... aircraft models daddyairplanes .......................................... skins, tgas, research, ini work on aircraft and weapons, constant nagging on models yakarov79 .......................................... testing and ini work GKABS ................................................... new MK15/39 nuclear weapon models russouk2004 ............................................... I have a method figured out for it, but we would need someone to model the horsecollar device with 33 JATO bottles - Not every upgrade to the Stratojet is modeled. Again, there were 1300+ aircraft built, and 6 phases for upgrades. The (53) roughly represents the aircraft after introduction, the (57) in between Phase 3 and 4. Anyone that would like to work any fakepilot mods to represent each of the 6 phases, as well as modifications like TEE TOWN would be welcomed. - while online sources state the 341st Bomb Wing operated Stratojets, veteran and book sources could not even find proof of operation, let alone marking information (they came through on all other Wings). Therefore I have not included this Bomb Wing in the mod. - The "afterburner" trick to use water injection on take off is in effect, from 99-100%. If you want realism, and to not be visible across the continent, dont exceed 97% power in flight. ************************************************************* This is freeware; it CANNOT be distributed unless permissions are granted by Coyote Aerospace. The Convair B-58 Hustler was the first operational jet bomber capable of Mach 2 flight.[2] The aircraft was designed by Convair and developed for the United States Air Force (USAF) for service in the Strategic Air Command (SAC) during the 1960s.[3] It used a delta wing, which was also employed by Convair fighters such as the F-102, with four General Electric J79 engines in underwing pods. It carried five nuclear weapons; four on pylons under the wings, and one nuclear weapon and fuel in a combination bomb/fuel pod under the fuselage, rather than in an internal bomb bay. unpack and move folders to their respective places Model: Veltro2k Sounds, Snum tgas in unit folders.................................... Copy the contents of the uncompressed "To_Mod_Folder" folder into your Saved Game mod folder. Overwrite any conflicts... Enjoy! Viper ------------------------------------------------------------- Original Readme: ------------------------------------------------------------- B-58A "Hustler" 7/8/2011 -- For SF2, Any and All -- This is a modification of Pasko's B-58 Hustler, to bring it more in line with SF2 standards. If you have the 2009 SF2 Update, just install this directly OVER your pre-existing folders, allowing the overwrite. If you don't, don't worry about it. Two skins are included (the same basic skin used twice), with all new 100% Historicaly Correct (tm) serial numbers, listing each operational aircraft that served with the 43rd and 305th Bomb Wings. Unfortunatly, I was unable to break them down each into which served with each of the 6 Squadrons in the 2 Wings, but this should do nicely. There are also 2 cockpits included: The original SF2 mod by Dave (USAFMTL), that uses the F-106 pit and, An extensivelly modified F-4 Phantom pit (stock 3W ini only -as the cockpit exists in all versions of the game). This one makes use of many 'moves' to drop items out if sight, and uses the physical external model for the windshield framing. Neither one is perfect ... this is elaborated further in the "Notes" section, with instructions on what to switch or turn off in the various inis; depending on which you choose. Right now, it's using the Phantom pit, as it really is quite a bit closer than the 106's. In the Loadout ini, several alternate loadouts are listed. These can be accessed from the 3rdWire mission editor screen (for post-Expansion Pak 2 users). Other ini edits repositon the running & landing lights, add 'virtual' flaps (as this aircraft made use of drooping elevons -without the original source file this is impossible to duplicate-), minor engine adjustments, and avionics tweeks. It could also stand a slightly improved FM; the changes and other comments are in the "Notes" section. Weapons are included, the nuke explosion effects are =NOT=. YOu should probably have them from the GunnyPak. Speaking of weapons, a "new" 8kt ARM is included; this is a fictional ARM version of the Genie, more in line with "Fail Safe" and the No.6 Decoy/EW/Escort aircraft, and gives you a SEAD load. Kill SAM sites DEAD!!! Since real decoys don't/can't exist....it's just for fun! There's also and EO version, that can be used for STRIKE or SEAD missions. As always, =READ= the enclosed readme for full, detailed instructions. This package has been broken down into the various folders that SF2 needs/requires/should have, to make it a LOT easier to install. Also, as usual, the expected 'Notes and Other Nonesense' comments by me. This =IS= Required reading -- there are some issues that are addressed there. --------------------- To Install: As always, unzip the "sf2_hustler_pak.zip" to a temp folder or your desktop, or somewhere' else that's easy to find. Then, simply copy/paste the /Objects folder directly OVER the /Objects folder of your SF2 install of choice. All the folders have already been seperated out into their correct format that SF2 requires/wants/needs/should have for all mods. That's it ... Off you go! ----------------------- Notes and Other Nonsense: Ok, first and foremost of importance ...when carrying the Two Component Pod for Nuke strikes - DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES ORDER YOUR WINGMAN TO 'DROP TANKS'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!- This WILL cause the game to lockup/freeze for some reason, and the only way out is C/A/D to start the Task Manager and kill it that way. You, however, can drop your tank, exposing the multi-megation bomb, This is how it would have been delivered ... the tank was kept until the bomb run, jettisoned, and then the bomb dropped. Apparently, when Wingmen are given the 'attack my target' order, they should automatically dump the externals. (Unfortunately, during STIKE mission testing, it seems that giving your wingman ANY orders like - 'attack my target' may also freeze the game. Don't know what's causing it. Something releated to the nukes/TCP maybe??? Just be advised ... and let the AI handle ALL of these aircraft). They're quite fun for high-mach, low level flying. Don't forget, too, these aircraft would have operated alone on their missions into the Soviet Union, and NOT in formations. You may want to send you wingmen home on STRIKE, and do the job yourself. Your choice -- but just remember what happens. Also, the aircraft =REALLY= needs a new flight model ... IMO it has too much drag and not enough lift, and has a tendencay to 'tail stall' during hard turns. Of course, it's a frakking BOMBER, and shouldn't be making fighter-like manuvers. There ARE some clipping issues with the Phantom cockpit as used -- the side window frames disappear. As I'm totally opposed to fucking around the the games clipping distances, these have been left alone. You'll just have to not turn you head too far left or right. I've narrowed down the cockpit views to try and prevent this as much as possible, but it's a moot point. Which brings up another point -- my feelings are that even with cockpits and such, bombers should be left under the control of the Games AI -- it does a much better job of putting iron (or uranium/plutonium in this case) on the target. I'm may also update Pete "pappychksix" Fredrico's SEA camo skin, and will release that when it's done. It needs better decals! Howeve, given the excessively SMALL conventional load ... the aircraft may be better used as a Pathfinder, with high-explosive ARMs, LOTS & LOTS of chaff, and super-powerfull jammers. Essentially, and EB-58s, similiar to the EB-66s as used in Southeast Asia. We'll see.... ---------------------- -Swapping Cockits: If for any reason, you want to go back to the 106's pit, here's what you do: Open the B-58A_DATA.ini, and scroll down to the [NOSE] section. You'll see this: [Nose] ParentComponentName=Fuselage ModelNodeName=Nose //ShowFromCockpit=FALSE ShowFromCockpit=TRUE you'll note I already have the switch in place to turn off the nose, thereby removing the external windows/windshield framing. Simply uncomment the 'ShowFromCockpit=FALSE', and comment OUT the 'ShowFromCockpit=TRUE It would then look like this: [Nose] ParentComponentName=Fuselage ModelNodeName=Nose ShowFromCockpit=FALSE //ShowFromCockpit=TRUE Save and close the data ini. In the B-58A.ini, where the cockpit statements are, you'll see this: [AircraftData] AircraftFullName=B-58A Hustler AircraftShortName=B-58 AircraftDataFile=B-58_data.ini //CockpitDataFile=B-58_cockpit.ini <--- CockpitDataFile=F-4E_COCKPIT.INI <--- HangarScreen=B-58_Hangar.bmp LoadoutImage=B-58_LOADOUT.bmp LoadingScreen=B-58_loading.bmp LoadoutFile=B-58_loadout.ini AvionicsDLL=Avionics60.dll AvionicsDataFilename=B-58_AVIONICS.INI You do pretty much the same thing, commenting out the F-4E cockpit ini, and uncommenting the B-58 cockpit ini. Thusly: [AircraftData] AircraftFullName=B-58A Hustler AircraftShortName=B-58 AircraftDataFile=B-58_data.ini CockpitDataFile=B-58_cockpit.ini //CockpitDataFile=F-4E_COCKPIT.INI HangarScreen=B-58_Hangar.bmp LoadoutImage=B-58_LOADOUT.bmp LoadingScreen=B-58_loading.bmp LoadoutFile=B-58_loadout.ini AvionicsDLL=Avionics60.dll AvionicsDataFilename=B-58_AVIONICS.INI As stated above, NEITHER is a perfect choice .. the Hustler had a rather unique cockpit, and did not have the radar display or RWR in the pilot's compartment. These was handled by the Radar Navigator (aka Bombadaier) and the Defense Systems Operator seated behind him. For gaming purposes, this will have to suffice. You'll also have to rename the 'xCockpit' folder back to just plane Cockpit. This has all the F-106 cockpit bits. Of course, if one wants to convert to totally AI, simple comment out BOTH cockpt inis, and it'll revert to computer/game AI control. ----------------------- Sources: AeroFax #??? - Convair B-58 Hustler Warpaint #4 - Convair B-58 Hustler Credits: Pasko & Co for the original release; Dave & Co for the 2009 upgrade; ??? for the J-79 sound I borrowed/included (Ravenclaw? The B-47's primary mission was to drop nuclear bombs on the Soviet Union. With its engines carried in nacelles under the swept wing, the B-47 was a major innovation in post-World War II combat jet design, and contributed to the development of modern jet airliners. The B-47 entered service with the United States Air Force's Strategic Air Command (SAC) in 1951. It never saw combat as a bomber, but was a mainstay of SAC's bomber strength during the late 1950s and early 1960s, and remained in use as a bomber until 1965. It was also adapted to a number of other missions, including photographic reconnaissance, electronic intelligence and weather reconnaissance, remaining in service as a reconnaissance aircraft until 1969 and as a testbed until 1977. B-2A (Beta) by FastCargo. ********************** Version 0.90 *********************** SF2 Version for Jul 2013 Patch. Original model from tf3dm - 3dregenerator Modifications to import into TW sims by FastCargo Textures and most decals by FastCargo Cockpit, ModPilot, and Aces II seat from B-1B Redux Package by Dels, et al Included weapons from The Ordinance Shop II by 331KillerBee and FastCargo Hanger and Loadout screens credited to the respective individuals Thanks to ST0RM for high res photos allowing me to complete the area around the cockpit Templates for all textures and decals included Any errors are mine... Aircraft include: B-2A - All 21 tail numbers are included in the Block 30 paint scheme (operational). Notes: This release is a beta, and as such, is somewhat incomplete. The cockpit is from the B-1B. A new weapon has been included, the GBU-57 Massive Ordinance Penetrator (MOP). Big boom...but only one per bay. JASSMs have been slightly modded to have more realistic flight performance. The weapon bay loads have been built to realistically hold the proper number and types of weapons the real B-2A could carry. The FM has been tweaked to allow the player and AI to fly with reasonable accuracy. There are still a few bugs...mainly the AI likes to be nose down during the approach and landing. Also, there can be weapon bay visual errors when the AI is dropping weapons (ie the bay doors may not open). The weapon bay errors are limitations in the code that can't be fixed...it has to do with more than one weapon station using the same bay door animation slot. We are still working to squash the remaining issues...and one day we will have a proper cockpit for this machine. Have fun...report any crippling bugs (except trying to use it in SFP1/WOV/WOE/WOI...you're on your own) in the release thread at CA. FC 07 Jul 14

B-58A "Hustler" -- For SF2, Any and All -- This is a modification of Pasko's B-58 Hustler, to bring it more in line with SF2 standards. Good Hunting! wrench kevin stein
