  1. Grim humor...the new 5 ship. FastCargo
  2. AOC, Good on ya! That's the way to do it methinks! The nice thing is that though it's a lot of work, you should only have to do the major work once. After that, it's just incremental updates. FastCargo
  3. No s**t? That's cool that RCS now works properly, should make aircraft tactics based on stealth FAR more interesting... FastCargo
  4. Yea...bad things man, bad things! I would STRONGLY recommend doing a new, clean install, patch it up, BACK IT UP, then install the MF weapons pack ONLY. You can use weapons from Bunyap's and the WOI pack, but I would recommend installing those in a 'dummy' install and pulling the weapons you want one at a time over to your SFP1 install. FastCargo
  5. Folks, does everyone understand this has nothing to do with relationships among peers. What it has to do is with chain of command conflict of interest issues. You cannot have a unprofessional relationship with someone in your chain of command or who can directly influence your chain of command. Does anyone really believe that if you have a relationship (especially an intimate one) with someone in your chain of command (supervisor or subordinate) that it doesn't influence how that person deals with you or you deal with that person. Even if NOTHING is going on, just the perception of such a thing can cause morale and interaction problems within the unit. An example: Instructor A has a intimate relationship with Student B. Later on, Student B gets ranking with their class for post pilot training assignments. Student B decides they want to be an IP at that base so they can stay with Instructor A...even though their ranking was high enough to get a fighter assignment. Do you see the problem here? What does Student B's classmates think of the ranking Student B got? What do they think of Instructor A? How about Instructor A's fellow instructors, what do they think? Or Instructor A's supervisor? Does anyone honestly think there isn't the perception of a problem here? You substitute 'supervisor' and 'subordinate' for 'instructor' and 'student' and the problem is the same. (Oh, and the example I provided isn't fictional...it's just been sanitized) And this kind of perception can follow you through THE REST OF YOUR CAREER AND BEYOND. I've seen folks not get hired at post-military jobs because of stuff they did in the military, and the word got out. Not Article 15/BCD type stuff either. Everyone has heard of sparky's whining about manning issues of which most are based in painful fact. Do you think everyone has time to eval every single relationship to determine if it's inappropriate or not? And the military can't have influence on your personal conduct? Please...you guys should know better. Tell me how long you'll last if you attend a anti-government rally in a uniform. Or get a DUI or underage drinking on base. Btw, this isn't strictly limited to the military. Lots of other governmental agencies and corperations have the same sort of rules in place for the same reasons. FastCargo PS I was looking forward to seeing the six ship this weekend after I get done with my airshow participation...oh well.
  6. Yes, but not in this case. The early models of the F-111 had a 'splitter vane' (basically a large, flat piece of metal) between the inner wall of the intake and the fuselage. The main reason this existed AFAIK was to keep the turbulent boundary layer air from the fuselage from being digested by the engines and causing a compressor stall or worse. Later models of the F-111 got rid of this plate by moving the intakes outward 4 inches (.1 meter). The old F-111 LOD files did not have this splitter plate at all. Version 1.2 has them for the appropriate versions. Stator vanes on the other hand are something completely different and are engine specific. Normally, you only can visually see these on lower bypass turbofans and turbojets. They basically are the non-rotating airfoils within the engine. They may or may not be movable to help direct airflow. You normally won't visibly see them on large bypass engines (airliners) because they are hidden behind the big ol rotating fan. FastCargo
  7. I will also tell you the 'lack of speed' you feel is due to the default FOV for the sim. In order to keep the instrument panel readable on modest machines, the FOV requires you to be 'zoomed' in significantly more than real life. Try zooming out to easily encompass the whole canopy bow and then some, plus add a terrain shader and some trees like Fubar mentioned. I think you'll find it feels significantly different. Not that I would know anything about high speed low level flight of course.... FastCargo
  8. Monty, Please check your PMs. FastCargo
  9. You're overthinking it just a bit is all. Looking at the entry for the terrain: You can see that for each 'season', you can adjust the dates (from Nov 1st to Jan 31st in this example), and adjust the probabilities that each type of weather will occur. The only thing I don't know if it's possible is changing rain to snow 'on the fly'. CA_Stary did it by changing the 'raindrops' into snow clouds...but I don't think the engine can do that based on what time of year it is. However, if there was a way to make a 'new weather' mode...or adjust one of the other weather modes, that could work (after all, each terrain can have it's own EnviromentalSystem.ini file, which specifies what each weather mode looks like). It's funny you mention storms through...I know Fubar512 has been playing with lighting effects, and I have an idea on how to create thunderstorm clouds, just haven't played with it lately... 10. You didn't ask a dumb question, it's actually a very good question, which started this whole thing about changing seasons in terrains. It was your idea about changing seasons that allowed me to bring up the fact that First Eagles already does it...and all we needed to do is apply it to the WOx series. As far as I can tell (and I did a search) no one ever brought up the idea of doing it in the WOx series until you asked. So, not a dumb question by a long shot. I was responding to the statement about adding a year suffix to the date ranges...it isn't necessary to do that because campaigns have specific start dates, and you can pick the year in single missions. The date ranges in terrain files are in month/day format. FastCargo
  11. Why? There's no reason to do that. You can already specify the year in single missions, and campaigns have specific start and stop dates. FastCargo
  12. False, I used a chainsaw instead. The person below me wishes they could stay 'up' longer...because they never have enough 'fuel'. FastCargo
  13. I'm pretty sure you can update your own upload. Look for the options in the lower left of the screen. FastCargo
  14. That's been fixed with the Oct2008b patch. FastCargo
  15. I thought that didn't look right...thanks for the link WK. FastCargo
  16. Sweet idea Wrench...not like you don't have enough on your plate already... FastCargo
  17. OMG...the guys who made Team America have a WWI movie coming out! FastCargo
  18. Commander31, I am resisting biting your head off only because I've just finished eating. These mods are done by folks in their spare time. If they constantly had to update each and everyone of their mods (especially for some who are prolific in their mods) and reuploaded them, they wouldn't have time for anything else. You get these mods for free, and it is not up to the original creators to update them as the game engine gets patched and advanced. If they do it, that's great and we appreciate it. But they are under no obligation to do so...and don't assume you have ANY right to demand it. You are being rude. Wrench, The has given you the tools to fix it yourself. Learn by doing. FastCargo
  19. Yep, that's it exactly. The engine seems to like it that way. FastCargo
  20. There were in fact several MAX files...one for each version of the F-111. However, most of them had the same 'core' group of meshes, with only specific things added or deleted. The current plan is this will be F-111 version 1.2. It is NOT a full up rebuild of the mesh, but more of a repair. It is planned that there will be one unified MAX file, only having to hide and unhide particular meshes in order to get the version of the aircraft you want. It also means all mapping will be very similar. The one version not to be included (so far) is the F-111B. Things changed include: Almost all 'holes' in the meshes have been closed up...including filled in polygons, welded vertices, sealed edges. Mapping completely redone to a more logical layout (will require higher resolution bitmaps though for max effectiveness). External model of the cockpit closed up (no more seeing through walls). Canopy frame now 3-d (includes opening canopy animation). Gear wheels/tyres smoothed out and better shaped. Speedbrake/main gear doors, bombbay and nose gear doors redone with no gaps. Wings partially rebuilt...no more 'floating' spoilers or gaps in the slats. Wingtip shapes more representative of the real aircraft (include wingtip position lights). Fuselage mesh now 'symmetrical' in shape (sliced mesh in half and mirrored, then resealed). Intakes completely rebuilt...'tunnel' is longer, smoother, engine 'bullet nose' is 3D, and experimental 'spinning blades seen behind stator vanes' animation added. Intakes will now have 'splitter vanes' depending on which model had them. Several significant limitations will remain however, but may be worked on in future iterations. FastCargo
