    My escorts were an 8-ship of USN F-4's who were supposed to do.....something. All they did was rile up the locals, and by the time we got there, they were well & truly pissed.

    I think with a well-trained pilot, versed in the abilities of the Flanker and can compensate for any perceived weaknesses vs it's opponents, it would be a nightmare to fly against, and would make quite a difference.

    I'd forgotten how much fun this bird was to fly. No missiles, no bombs, usually no one shooting at us: just making holes in the sky, and turning JP-4 into noise & pollution. Using the runway on the FWS school map presents an interesting takeoff challenge at the EOR. Wingman flirting with the trees... Just fun to fly...
