It doesn't look pretty but you could see that coming They fire OK Those three, each looking for a different radar. I think it would look better if i rearranged the attachment points so it looks like some kind of WW conversion, carrying a few fewer missiles. Either way, I think the missile load is likely to be more expensive than the plane at this point. The culprit seemed to be the absurd amount of them they carry. The base quantity was 2, switched it to 999, and now i can load 25 (instead of the 28, i guess weight or something)

You know, I just kind of proved it in a dumb way: Linebacker I, flying a Crusader. Right into the area, flight of, I think, A-4s underneath. A ton of Frescos swarm toward the Skyhawks, followed by some MiG-21PFMs. Burner on, fly on top of the MiG-17s, dive in a split-S to get on their tails. Predictably, i oveshoot, but manage to tear one's wing off snapping a burst of 20mm. Get back around, an epic furball...ask control for a vector to the flight I was supposed to be escorting. Became confused as hell when no option appears to ask for a vector to target, and keep flying straight, dumbfounded for a couple of seconds. Remember the mission was recon all along the same moment I catch a 37mm shell with my helmet.

If there was so much shit being talked about the ARVN regarding "cowardice" and corruption before the Paris Peace Accords, I guess they could have seen it coming. I don't think they would have expected supply/funds to be cut off and B-52s not being sent back for Linebacker 3 or something like that though.

Back when I was still fit and a paratrooper, one of the things we trained the most for were NEO (Non-combatant evacuation operations). From what I gather, heavy casualties were to be assumed. Wish them the best of luck.

Tried to do with the "cloned" bomb bay, but it just greyed out. Had to clean up a bit the SSD, will try something else. I'll try reverse-engineering Kevin's B-52s. Actually, I downloaded that B-58 for other ludicrous SAC in Nam ideas. Gave it TER on these stations, not very practical, had to make them only load outside to avoid clipping the tank so it only carried 16, but it was fun to be honest. WW Hustler looks better honestly than what I was trying to.

I would have to cool my laptop with liquid nitrogen to get it to run DCS, but even so I'm hyped about their Typhoon and the chance of putting IRIS-Ts on F-18s. Guess that's it, i shall marry, buy my own house and plant a proper gaming desktop.

I was trying to load AGM-78s on a B-47B to make a ridiculous SAC WW and purge clean the EM spectrum above Hanoi. I made it flyable until 1972, added the ARM entry to the corresponding line and had to switch the lenght limit by more than a meter, now the missiles appear in the loadout inventory but it won't load either Shrikes nor Standards, setting the station to EXTERNAL works, but of course, only allows 1 missile to be carried. Before I make 28 separate "external" stations, is there anything else you can do?

On the editor, point at the sea create a naval group, and make sure it has a carrier. Then click on your flight, and choose the name of said naval group as your starting point. If you don't have SF2NA (or the complete edition) I think you can "Create naval object", make it a carrier and choose it, but i don't know at the moment. Also, remember check Options and set it so that you start on the "Runway" or it will simply have you spawn in the air.

Treason anyone? If he was about to burn it down either way, at least he could have been bribed by some foreign "adversary". I wonder what the legalese is for defining the damages as "30 million", they had to decomission the whole damned ship.

What If Screenshot Thread.......
macelena replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Screen Shots
When the conflicts scalated into what has become known as the Far East War in 1968, the USAF found itself without the ability to field enough Phantoms to curb the swarms of J-6s fielded by the PLAAF, which led to a revival of the Starfighter in its intended role as an air superiority fighter. Out of the F-104G production lines everywhere, scores of F-104Ms were produced introducing improvements such as the uprated J79-GE-19 engine and a EW warfare suit to survive in the SAM intensive environments of Korea, Vietnam and the Taiwan Strait. Another significant improvement came about with the standardization of US Navy variants of the AIM-9 Sidewinder, which not only simplified logistics and production, but actually performed much better in combat. Still need to work a bit on the ECM stuff, they should also come with IFR probes. Skin by Wrench, terrain by Gerwin and Menrva, stock 3d stuff, blunders by yours truly Macelena -
Strike Fighters 2 Screenshots Thread
macelena replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Screen Shots
Had to pimp my ride not to get eaten by Uncle (Ho's) SAM This (kind of) configuration was tried in 1967, but it wasn't used. I guess they just gave up on the F-104s Source: https://www.i-f-s.nl/udorn-ecm/ -
I doubt i will be the most pissed about it here compared to people who got to deploy there, but after the withdrawal, is there anything doable to help the ANA keep the Taliban at bay? Allied Carriers, Bombers, Drones? I would guess they are capable of working with NATO CAS after 20 years but I don't think we can assume anything here.

Sorry to hear that Wrench, good luck.

Regarding variants and stuff, I just got sent back to isolation because i still was contagious. The docs seemed nervous, vaccinated people are getting the new variants, and while they don't get symptons, they can still carry it. I had Delta, and having been vaccinated with AZ (reportedly the least effective against this variant in particular) I didn't even know until tested. So if i were any of you, try to get any vaccine as soon as you can.

AN/ALE-40 installation on Phantoms
macelena replied to macelena's topic in Military and General Aviation
Thanks a lot. I wasn't sure how much of an issue would have been to get the whole wiring part done. -
I've been wondering how quickly could those packs be installed on Phantoms (or any other aircraft, but i was thinking about Phantoms specifically) in case these had to be rushed to a theater, and at which level of maintenance echelon it could have been done, as in, could it be done by the crews that service the aircraft routinely or should they have been sent back/higher up to be retrofitted?

Something about trebuchets on a cathedral and stained glass...
