My 2 cents with a view from the other side of the iron curtain. The MiG-21 had proofed to be able to outturn all jets which the US used in Vietnam in real combat. That was the reason, because the USAF cried for a lightweight fighter. The most agil plane in US inventory was the F-8 Crusader, which was close to the turn performance to the 21F-13. You must also understand, that a lot of vietnamese pilots were physically unable to bring the MiG-21 to the outer limits of their performance range. Soviet flight trainers said, that it happend very often, that the vietnamese pilots fall into blackout, while the soviet instructors still had not had problems with grey or blackout. If you talk about the MiG-21 you must say, which version of MiG-21 do you mean. While the MiG-21F-13 was so agil, that pilots said: "if you only think to move in a direction, the MiG is always turning from itself.", the MiG-21M was so stable and agil like a lorry (truck for our US guys). The MiG-21PF was called MiG-21 Sport or MiG-21GTI for its outstanding performance, while the MiG-21MF was not as loved. The flight performance of the MiG-21 versions depends a lot of fuel volume and flight altittute. MiG-21F-13 data by sources of the east german air force LSK (confirmed by MiG-21 pilots): below 12.000 meters the speed limit was set to 1.000 km/h (with armament or tank) or 1.200 km/h clean above 12.000 meters the speed limit was set to 2.150km/h clean and 1.650 km/h loaded. Its astonishing for me, that such an old guy was able to penetrate the outer skin of the Tiger in cockpit area with a simple axe. I always thought that a combat helicopter should withstand rounds till 12,7mm calibre but this crazy aussi showed us the contrary.

Russian developers tend always to made russian (soviet) birds, weapons tec better than they were in reality. And american developers do the same but with american technic. Look to SFP1, in game it was very easy to outcurve a MiG-21 with a F-104. In reality it never happend. No need to worry about it.

The flame ball was caused by the cover material. They used a lot of straw to reduce the blast wave. But the forgot to make the staw wet (or not wet enough). So the bomb explosion not only blow away the straw, but also ignit it. So it came to a lot of minor fires.

Vielleicht liegts auch am Grafikkartentreiber. Aber wahrscheinlich hat die Grafikkarte einen Hieb weg. (Kommt mir irgendwie bekannt vor. Meine letzte Grafikkarte hatte auch solche Allüren, wenn sie zu heiß wurde gabs zuerst ein paar Anomalien (violette Punkte in den Wolken) und irgendwann wurde der Bildschirm schwarz.)

Its not ussual to detonate bombs of WW2. Normaly the bomb sweepers made the job to remove the detonator fuse. More than 100 times a year here in Germany. In Munich it was a long time delay fuse which worked on chemical base and it was to corroded to remove. So it was decided to explode the bomb. For such detonation the bomb will covered with light material to reduce the blast wave. In case of this bomb it worked not as it was supposed to be, so that some houses were dameged. Two of them beyond repair.

Mock combat between german MiG-29 and american F-15C showed very different results.

Theoretically you can do such a terrain. You must merge both tilesets into one tileset. But: But practically i dont see a way to avoid a lot of handtiling of the terrain.

I'm a little bit confused about the Cobra versions. Especially the Q and the S version of the Army Cobras. Some folks say, thet the AH-1Q had had the Lycoming T53-L-703 engine. While others say, that it had the old Lycoming T53-L-13 and the Lycoming T53-L-703 fittet the Army Cobras versions AH-1S, P, E and F. Now my question to the wisdom of the net community, whats correct? :helpme:

Irgendwo habe ich gelesen, daß man selbst wenn man sich jetzt durchringen würde eine Bordkanone einzubauen nur 40 Schuss Munition mitführen könnte. Zu mehr ist in der kleinen Nase des deutschen Tigers einfach kein Platz.

Warum die Form? Zuerst hatte ich an eine Kokarde gedacht. Außen schwarz, dann rot und in der Mitte gold. Aber Kokarden gabs schon en masse und ein Farbenblinder hätte eine schwarz rot goldene Kokarde vielleicht mit der belgischen verwechseln können. Eine schwarz rot goldene Raute ist auch sehr schön, war aber das DDR Hoheitszeichen. Wobei: 1955 gab es die NVA noch nicht und alle DDR Flugzeuge flogen noch mit dem roten Stern herum, also hätte man schon die schwarz rot goldene Raute nehmen können. (Übrigens gab es in der DDR zunächst Zoff wegen der Form des Hoheitszeichens. Schaut euch mal die Umrisse der DDR Raute und des Hakenkreuzsymbold der Nazi Luftwaffe an. ;-) ) Dann habe ich mir gedacht, ein Dreieck ist außergewöhnlich (hat nur noch Östereich, oder habe ich jemanden vergessen), es ist einfach zu identifizieren und von anderen Hoheitszeichen zu unterscheiden. Die Farbewahl ist ja wohl klar. Die Dreiteilung in drei gleichgroße Farbabschnitte war geometrisch auf diese Weise am einfachsten zu erreichen. Naja und fertig war das ganze Ding. Wenns Euch gefällt, dann ist es doch Klasse. Wer will kann ja ne Petition zur Änderung des Hoheitszeichen von EK auf Dreieck beim Bundestag einreichen Und wenn jemand Lust hat kann er sich ja an dem Tarnmuster versuchen. Mir schwebt so ein Lozettentarnmuster vor, wie im ersten Weltkrieg oder, oder, oder ........

Als Hoheitszeichen vielleicht so etwas: Und in den 50er Jahren wurde an Tarnbemalung doch gar nicht gedacht. Da war doch so gut wie alles Silberfarben.
