  1. For a new helicopter, maybe the Bell Jetranger/OH-58 Kiowa, or if you want to stay Euro, how about the SA Dauphin or Westland Wasp or Scout?
  2. Awesome screenie. I thought it was a photo!
  3. Something for the Persian Gulf terrain. From ACIG: Iran acquired 24 Mirage F.1EQ/BQs when these were flown by defecting Iraqi pilots to Iranian airfields, in January and February 1991 - together with three plane-loads of spare parts and weapons. By 1993 all were introduced in service with the IRIAF, and based at TFB.14, Mashhad, in eastern Iran. Iranian Mirage F.1EQs were used extensively in the fighting against Afghani and Pakistani drug-smuggling bands, as well as against Taliban - inside southern Afghanistan. Still got a bit of decal work to do and permission from whomever did the base skin (it's from the IranIraq pack, so I'll have to have a look at the readme).
  4. RIP
  5. But why attack a nuclear facility that's being used solely for peaceful purposes?
  6. Looks great FC. Presumably you could also do a 1980s deck with F-14, A-6, EA-6B & A-7, and a 1990s deck with F-14, F\A-18, EA-6B & A-6 too? E-2, SH-3 & SH-60 are DAT models only at present so they couldn't be included, but maybe the S-3 could be added too? Does the model have folded wings?
  7. Personally I subscribe to the cock-up theory. I think TK disabled runway starts when he was testing the patch so that he could start with the plane in the air, and then forgot to enable it again when he finalised the patch for release.
  8. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-12106753 RIP to a fine actor who may, or may not, have been Keyser Soze.
  9. Iran's Revolutionary Guards have shot down two "Western spy drones" in the Gulf, a senior Iranian commander has been quoted as saying. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-12105225 Looks like we're going to need Gepard's Persian Gulf terrain pretty sharpish....
  10. Thanks Eric. I converted the ISAF flag to an icon.
  11. Not as such, but if you download the excellent SF2:V Air & Ground Expansion Pack there are flyable A-6s included, and you should be able to convert the FOTI A-6 to make it flyable in SF2.
  12. So I've made a Wings Over Afghanistan install (number 32, but who's counting :wink2: ). Great work by Gepard and Eric on this terrain. Got Soviet and Western aircraft and ground objects, with the Soviet stuff having an end year of 1989 and the NATO stuff starting in 2001. I've beefed up the Afghan air defences from 2001 onwards to include some more SAM and AAA types (there's a lot of ZSU 23-4s now!)on the basis that they may have been supplied to the Taliban via the 'Stans to the north or the usual suspects in Iran - it makes life a lot more interesting as the missions are exclusively A2G. Anyway, what I need now is an icon for my desktop - anyone using anything nice for their intalls, if they have one? Thanks in advance.
  13. http://military-machine.blogspot.com/2009/04/battle-for-falklands-3-air-forces.html Some good pics and profiles in this book.
  14. Looks like mustaches are standard loadout for these pilots!

    Birthdays

    Many happy returns guys!
  16. If they're going cheap maybe we could buy some, build a hangar in the basement of the Combatace Tower and a lift to the helipad on the roof?
  17. Very sad news. I suppose he ate the fish.
  18. Only four? http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/h/richard-herman/ Anyone read the new one? I've only just noticed it was published this year. Kevin, in Warbirds there's a mention of stealth recon planes operating out of a remote desert in Saudi's 'empty quarter'. Perhaps a cameo appearance by the F-19 in the campaign would be in order? And then we can relive the old Microprose stealth missions against Iran too
  19. A new player for my Wings Over Timor install (amongst others). Thanks for the great job Eric.
  20. Many happy returns!
  21. Yes I've read that passage many times, but in that case wouldn't the F-20s have been painted in desert camo like the F-5s? http://combatace.com/files/file/2805-sauditigerzip/ Also on the web I found a modeller's attempt to make a Tiger Force F-20 and he says he actually corresponded with Barrett Tillman, who said that he envisaged the F-20s to be wearing the same colours as the Saudi F-5: It was my intent to do this particular plane as a member of the fictional Tiger Force, but there was one slight problem—I didn’t know what the paint scheme was. The book’s interior painting was not much help as the artist drew up the F-20 in the prototype color of BMW metallic grey. I spent an evening flipping thru the novel to find marking information, but I couldn’t find any. Out of desperation, I emailed the author, Barrett Tillman, and got a quick reply. Mr Tillman explained to me that he saw the F-20s using the same paint scheme as Saudi Arabia’s F-5E Tigers. http://modelingmadness.com/reviews/mod/us/leef20.htm Having said all that, for the reasons in my post above, I still think that they should be grey! @Riley64, have you read any of Richard Herman's novels, starting with 'The Warbirds'? IMHO they're tailor made for campaigns in the Thirdwire sims.
